20,000 mg of biotin + minoxidil has helped me. One to slow the loss and the other for regrowth.

Anyone tried Monat hair regrowth vitamins for thinning hair after WLS?

Biotin works for me. My surgeon said you can take up to 20,000 mg per day. -

I don’t have any pre-surgery. I’m 16 months our, lost 50 lbsand currently weight 156 lbs and wear 8-10 pants. I work out 3-5 days a week at the YMCA. -
Try 20,000 biotin a day. I also used minoxidil on my scalp and washed my hair with Nioxin shampoo. I think the biotin helped the most but it takes a while.

I had a lot of hair loss. You can safely use 20,000 mg of biotin a day. It has helped me a lot. At my worst I washed my hair with Nioxin and used minoxidil on my scalp. I got a shorter cut about 2 months ago and things are growing back nicely.

My story of very MINIMAL hair loss
Dawnislas replied to Blue Door's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My Dr said I could use up to 20,000 mg of biotin safely. I use Niacin, minoxidil, and the biotin. After heavy hair loss mine has finally stopped. I think the extra 10,000 mg of biotin did the trick. -
Always seeing myself the same fat girl

Congratulations on your loss. You look amazing. Just know that it takes our mind a little longer to readjust to the changes in our physical appearance. I remember thinking the same as you but then one day I passed a mirror on a store and had to stop and take a closer look. This journey is psychological as well as medical. Everything in us needs time to readjust. Just keep going. -
Help Me pack my bag!
Dawnislas replied to hernandez776's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A pillow is very helpful for the car rides to and from airport, home, and probably even on the plane. -
It seems many people had the “what did I do” thoughts right after but most change to “ why did I wait so long” not long after. To not only lose weight but have more energy, ditch meds, and just all around feel better sends any regrets out the window.

Nervous about being sleeved 9/25/2017

I am 1 year out today. Head down, no distractions, do not talk about it to others, only close family and I advise not too much. You have to get your head wrapped around the journey you are about to begin, I spent a lot of time on the Gastric Sleeve website reading about others journey. I can now wear 6-8 pants, off all medications and feel great. The hardest part of the journey is the head games. Keep your focus. Good luck. I will pray for you -
Congratulations the sky [emoji292] is the limit now.

8 months out and I am down 56 lbs. I have 20 more to go for goal. I bought a swimsuit tonight at academy and it only took me 20 minutes. Big NSV for me. Bottoms are 10 and top is 14. Of. course I have flabby arms and thighs but granddaughter won't care when we are at the pool together. Yea all of us!

PRE-OP AND MORE SCARED THAN EVER!
Dawnislas replied to Debbie9966's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would think they would have you lose more weight to improve your sleep apnea in order to make you a safe candidate for the surgery. I don't think they would cancel at first just delay until you get the issue better controlled. I remember when I had to lose weight pre- op I put myself in a "zone" of controlled thinking about no carbs, protein & protein drinks. I was able to lose the needed weight to be approved. Good luck to you. -
No one has mentioned when to add solid foods do hopefully the plan someone posted for you has that information. You have to follow the plan to heal your new tummy and prevent a leak. Do not try to advance to another level of eating until the plan tells you too. I recommend the Mayo Clinic as a great resource. Good luck to you

Help! My parents and friends are skeptical!
Dawnislas replied to BabyPandaloup's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It was the best thing I ever did for my health. You can have the surgery, go through counseling to get your mind set to keep the weight off and go on to live a healthy life style. I wish I had found out about this surgery years ago. I don't think you are too young. Good luck to you Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I've had that too since my surgery in September. I bought some Nioxin shampoo, conditioner, and scalp treatment. It has slowed down the loss. I also take Biotin and only wash every 3 days to control the loss. I'm really thin in the back of my head but I still have some that I can do a comb over Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

The first time in my life
Dawnislas replied to Carrie1122's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For the first time in my 4 month journey I had a coworker who asked me my name. She said, I thought it was you but I had to make sure. That was a surprise to me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Looking for alternatives to soda
Dawnislas replied to Robin Weinrich's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I buy grape and lemon lime Proteinex from Bariatric Choice website. It is 18 gr of Protein in 2 tablespoons. I mix it with water and sometimes add diet cran grape, cherry, or mango juice. No bubbles but I really like it and it adds the extra protein that I need. I very rarely drink straight water anymore. It seems too thin or something. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
You're losing so fast hormones are flooding your body and you are still recovering from surgery. Get lots of rest, eat your Protein, and get all your liquids in. It will slow down and stabilize. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Have you tried a Simply Fit Board
Dawnislas replied to Treadmillwalker's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I bought one last night and I am going to love it. I bought mine at JCPenney (39.99) and it came with the workout DVD. My 6 year old granddaughter loves it also. We watched every workout and then found some on You tube and the simply fit Facebook page. I may have to buy another one because she likes it so much. I can feel the burn now. For @@genn the high weight is 400 so you're a long way from breaking it. I can use it on my laminate floor without a carpet square but it would wear out the carpet and real hardwood floors. I had my first burger 4 months post op. It was 1/2 of a junior burger and I ate the bun on that half. It was my first bread also. I lived through it but I don't want one anymore. You just have to be careful and pay attention every day. Somehow today I let my stress take charge and ended up eating an old snickers bar I found in my desk. It took me a while but I did it. I am .4 away from a 50 lb loss so I am back on track to never do that again. The honest truth is you have to live in the world and you must understand your triggers and pay attention every day. But you can certainly eat out. Just plan ahead every meal every day. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Darn, this depresses me. Water has made me nauseous and about the only liquid I can stand is OJ. I'll have to find something else! I mix my water with diet cranberry juice or Powerade zero. It helps me get in my liquids. It is usually 3 parts water to 1 part juice. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
