5 days post op gas pains
RonnieBob replied to BrookeTiffani's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would suggest Gas-X Strips to cope with the gas pain...if you haven't already tried them. This is a post I just received that provides a solid overview of the issue of gas following bariatric surgery: Gas Relief After Weight Loss Surgery -
Thanks for clearing up the term "Full" liquids for me.
-
I'm not sure what you mean by "Full" liquids, however, my bariatric team recommended sugar-free beverages such as Crystal Light, Propel, Fruit20, Powerade Zero, Sugar-Free Kool-Aid, etc. Personally, I relied upon, Propel and Crystal Light. Hope this helps.

3rd day R-N-Y oost-op protein shakes question. Premier Protein shakes OK?
RonnieBob replied to Roadblock's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Nutritionist and Bariatric team strongly recommended Premier Protein both pre and post for easy protein. The only drawback to the Protein shakes were they made it necessary for me to begin mixing in some additional Fiber to my yogurt and other soft foods. In addition to Premier Protein, I've began to also use EAS Myoplex Original with 42 grams of Protein. I drink 1/2 to start the day and then the other 1/2 later in the day. I especially like their chocolate Fudge flavor. I just had my 5 week post-op visit with my doctor and the bariatric team and I am down 64 pounds from my HW and 28 pounds from my weight on the day of my procedure. -
How do you take medication post op?
RonnieBob replied to bostonmama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was advised to take them with unsweetened applesauce, however, I soon began to add them to Oikos Triple Zero Greek Yogurt and that added an extra 15 grams of Protein in the morning and another 15 grams in the evening. I have a mix of pills with some needing to be taken in the morning and others at night before I go to bed. -
Excellent advice from what I've been advised.

You are a brave one, Heather! My RNY was on September 19th and "bread" is not anywhere on my immediate horizon or the program laid out for me by my Doctor and Bariatric team.
-
I just celebrated reaching four weeks post RNY. I was heavily restricted to 1 oz. each 15 minutes for the first 10 days, however, after that, I have had absolutely no problem consuming a high volume of liquids. I try to base my water/liquid intake on proper hydration levels adjusted to my gender, age, height and weight and by doing that my ultimate target is over double the much trumpted 64 oz target. There are numerous hydration calculators available online.

Ugh so much going on with my body
RonnieBob replied to kblanc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 29 days out with my RNY. During the early phase, I relied on Premier Protein shake, EAS Myoplex and Oikos Triple Zero Yogurt for protein. Still using a combination of them to get an early boost of protein to start my day. If I use the Premier Protein Shake and an Oikos Triple Zero Yogurt to start my day, I have just taken in 45 protein units. If I use the Myoplex, I drink 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 later in the day with an Oikos Triple Zero Yogurt and it gives me 36 protein units to start my day. Hope that helps. -
Walking is an important element in your recovery and program. There is nothing to say you can't get your steps in by walking inside in your home. Break it down into 5 minute blocks and try to do two of them your first week and increase it by two more in week two, three, etc. If you have a pedometer or fitbit it can keep fairly reliable track for you and record your progress online. Don't let your parents or others get you down! Just take care of yourself by taking care of yourself and following YOUR program.

Glad to be able to add a little light to your day!

What's everyone's weightless so far?
RonnieBob replied to BonitaMamiixo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
HW = 428 Preop = 419 Day of Procedure (9/19/16) = 392 10 days post-op = 383 Today = 378 Total of 50 lbs. -
My RNY was on the 19th of September and the Doctor has me crushing all pills until the 19th of October. I can hardly wait to bypass the foul tasting ground up meds. I've been mixing with unsweetened Applesauce or Oikos Triple Zero Yogurt

I DID IT! 9 days Post-Op!
RonnieBob replied to taurus71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just got the go ahead for this stage yesterday and had 1/4 cup of fat free refried Beans with a sprinkling of low-fat cheese for dinner last night. -
You are not the problem, Yani. Your Primary Doctor is a major problem if they would rather yell at you than support your efforts. I can remember when my mother's doctor saw her purchasing pies at Marie Calendars for a party she was hosting and accused her of "cheating" on her diet without ever attempting to discover who they were really for or the back-story.

Four day past surgery
RonnieBob replied to mayday305's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My RNY was on the 19th with no complications. I wasn't cleared for mashed potatoes ( 1 to 2 oz or 1/4 cup max) until last Friday the 30th when I moved to Phase 2 of the post-op diet. I would check with your bariatric team or your bariatric nutritionist. -
Which oil to use for scrambling an egg?
RonnieBob posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just cleared for phase 2 of the post-op diet and would like to know if it is alright to use olive oil for a scrambled egg? Not sure what other healthy options there are at this stage?- 9 replies

RonnieBob replied to KatB5331's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use OptiSource. 4 chewables a day for the rest of my life. The bariatric team nutrition suggested I take two in the morning and two at night. They don't have to be spread throughout the day. -

Bariatric Cream Soups and Phase 2 Post-Op Diet
RonnieBob posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
During phase 2 of the post-op diet, meals are limited to 1-2oz or 1/4 cup. The bariatric cream Soups are 6 to 8 oz when mixed. Since they are also "liquid" meals, does this mean I should consume 1/4th cup for a meal and consume the other 6 oz over 3 separate meals or if it can be consumed until full?- 12 replies
