RonnieBob replied to RonnieBob's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, that makes sense. I've just connected a vivofit and myfitnesspal.com and was pleasantly surprised at the depth of the food database, including the Bariatric Pal items. -

Surgery was yesterday!
RonnieBob replied to KatB5331's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for the kind words, Kat. I was able to return to work on the 8th day because my wife was willing to drive me the 45 miles to and from work. We just made the same trip again today (9/30) for my first post-op doctor's appointment. All is progressing fantastically at this point. Pain free. Lost 9.2 lbs. since I checked in for surgery on the 19th. Cleared to move to phase 2 of the post-op diet and drive today. Now comes the fun of trying to determine when to drink the liquids around the "meals" (30 min buffers on both sides). Still wrestling with determining if a Premier Protein is a meal or a liquid. LOL. Cleared for Elli Quark and Oikos Triple Zero Yogurt (both of which provide added protein - 80 cal and 14 gr protein for Quark or 120 cal and 15 gr protein for Oikos Triple Zero Yogurt). Also received some Bariatric Pal creamed soups and hot chocolate to try (each has 15 gr of added protein). Wishing you every continued success, Kat, and I'm here to support you along the way. -
Any Sept. surgeries?
RonnieBob replied to SkinnyGalinFatPersonsBody's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just got home from my first post-op followup on my Sept 19th RNY. I was given the go ahead to move to phase 2 of the post-op diet and discovered I've lost 9.2 lbs since the morning of surgery. New weight is 383. Total loss from high point of 428 is 45 pounds. To this point it has been a matter of just putting one step in front of the other and moving forward. Wishing all a fantastic weekend . -
I've been told chicken soup with noodles or rice are no-nos for RNY post-op. Best check with others to be sure

Any Sept. surgeries?
RonnieBob replied to SkinnyGalinFatPersonsBody's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To get proper hydration, I've found it helpful to use Propel throughout the day. 2 bottles provide almost 38oz and 3 1 oz shots of ProSource liquid Protein (45 grams total) and 8 oz of 100% apple juice provides base of 49 oz hydration. That is supplemented by sugar-free Gelatin, sugar-free popsicles and decaf coffee to increase the hydration level. -

Surgery was yesterday!
RonnieBob replied to KatB5331's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations, Kat! Take it one day at a time. I just finished my first day back the university in the classroom following my RNY last Monday. Can't wait to meet up with the bariatric team on Friday to check my progress and add a bit more variety to my menu I ordered a fitness watch to keep track of my walking and remind me when it is time to do whatever I need to do. As someone a week a head of you, never hesitate to reach out if you need a buddy to chat with about the journey. Sent from my SD4930UR using the BariatricPal App -
Any Sept. surgeries?

I feel the same, my surgery is Wednesday. I've been able to lose 40 pounds on my own, so I'm questioning if I really need it. But then I think that I do need it, but then I worry ......hope all goes well for you tomorrow! Wendilin I feel the same, my surgery is Wednesday. I've been able to lose 40 pounds on my own, so I'm questioning if I really need it. But then I think that I do need it, but then I worry ......hope all goes well for you tomorrow! Wendilin I had my RNY done last Monday and was discharged late Tuesday afternoon. No issues before, during or after. My bariatric team has been first rate! The doctor has been doing these procedures for years and has developed a bariatric bible for his patients to follow and refer to throughout the process. He is very thorough and conservative in his approach. Trust your bariatric team to help you get to where you've always wanted to go but we're unable to get there. Whenever I started to have a doubt, I reflected back onto a statement made by my primary doctor: "I can't remember ever treating a 300 lb 80 yearold." -

Any Sept. surgeries?
RonnieBob replied to SkinnyGalinFatPersonsBody's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thoughts and prayers for one and all. I had my RNY on Monday the 19th and am home doing remarkably well. My new mantra is walk-sip-walk-sip... I suggest you keep on top of pain management and follow post-op schedule as strictly as you did the pre-op liquid diet. The toughest part for me is the 1oz of clear liquid every 15 minutes (48+ oz in the day). I am using ProSource Berry Liquid Protein for 3 1oz protein shots throughout the day and doing my 30 minutes of walking in 3 10-minute sections in different day parts. Keep a pillow handy to cover your stomach with for coughing up post-op "guck". Feel free to reach out if you need someone to chat with in the days and months ahead. -
6 Days Post Op How Many Oz A Hour?
RonnieBob replied to ShrinkingJassy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on my way home from my RNY yesterday and have been told drink 1oz of clear liquid every 15 minutes with a target of 48oz in 24 hours. The whole idea is to not over tax the new stomach. Time to sip on my Propel ???? Sent from my SD4930UR using the BariatricPal App -
Take a look at Elli Quark instead yogurt or Greek yogurt. It has fewer calories (80) and higher protein (14g). It is available online and Hy-Vee stores in my area. It is available in 12 flavors. Sent from my SM-P900 using the BariatricPal App

It looks like we share surgery dates. My RNY is tomorrow the 19th at 8 am. I am interested in your insights about iron and infusions. My brother-in-law had a sleeve procedure done in May and he had to have an infusion this past Friday. Sent from my SM-P900 using the BariatricPal App
