I feel like my partner isn't even trying to eat better
allies journey replied to Foxy_lady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Consideration for your feelings is one thing but this is about your choices, your health and your journey. I have a husband of 44 yrs has never been overweight and is a junk food junkie. Hes very supportive of my choices but I don't expect him to do a lot of changing. I have to do that, it's how bad do I want it??? That being said, if he were dangling a piece of my favorite pie,or pizza in front of me saying "Come on you know you want it" I'd be the first to smack it out of his hand.lol But him eating my favorite foods that may also be his he isn't at fault. Find some new favorite healthy choices and if you're in liquid mode preop or post op.Walk away. . The best things in life are.worth the wait. Just sayin! ! What to tell people?
allies journey replied to mcmom2016's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mcmom2016,what your doing is taking control of your life and health. Not something to be ashamed of telling your family and close friends. It's awesome to be in control of your health and well -being. Not sure why you are so secretive but just sayin! ! Be proud of what choices you make. .Good luck to you. Get well soon and I totally agree listen to your body. The surgeons have been doing this for a long time and the only dumb questions are the ones you don't ask. Haven't had my surgery yet but will definitely keep you in mind and your experience. . Allie Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App -

I got approved today!
allies journey replied to mimigettingskinny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The waiting for approval seems like the worst (mine was fear one of my 2 insurance companies would say Nope not gonna happen. ).After all the time doing the pre required thing's .I know a lot of them make ppl wait for 6 months to a year so I am not complaining. If you're still waiting hang in there. . Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App -

I love the premier Protein shakes chocolate is okay but banana cream is my favorite. Hard to find that flavor so apparently lots of people like it.I like it because it is very Lil sugar as well and 30 grams of protein per drink. Pay attention to the amount of protein and sugar in the drinks some of them are high sugar and low protein. Allie Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App

a couple questions for all the sleeve veterans
allies journey replied to mollydeez's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh congratulations on date I finally got mine too. I go on October 25th for sleeve. I wasn't told to lose weight but was 270 first visit with surgeon. I am now 252 but started making small changes when I left Dr.office that day trying to prepare myself for after surgery. Lil changes like from regular coffee to half caffeine and now decaf. Whole milk to 2% and now at 1% (which I use 4 coffee or a rare bowl of Cereal ),from white bread (several times a day ),to 100% whole wheat and now at least 2 Protein shakes a day (I use the Premier Protein Shakes as they have 30 grams of protein per drink). I didn't think about measuring myself the first mo.but from July 30th to August 30th I lost over 16 in along with the weight. But depending on your Dr.whether it's 2 weeks or 4 weeks prior to surgery the preop diet is to help you lose a little bit to make your liver go down and make the surgery easier for the surgeon and you. I take 17 pills a day and had a med . change which made me gain as I had gotten down to 249 .So of course I told my Dr.no way!!!Went back to original medicine and been trying to get the weight back down. If you can make small changes now that would benefit you for surgery and success I think. Good luck with your journey! ! Allie Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App -

I had my consultation today!
allies journey replied to jaadan79's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have done tons of research on all of the surgeries and this website has helped me prepare for the surgery. My date is October 25th and so glad to finally have a date. I started by changing things a little at a time since my 1st appointment. Like going from whole milk,to 2% and now at 1% ,eating 100 % whole wheat bread (although I eat almost no bread now ),I went from country crock margarine to I can't believe it's not Butter. Caffeinated coffee, to half calf, now decaf. I have lost 22 lbs since June 8th, so I am doing ok. I have also lost 16 plus inches since July 30th and actually moving alot more. Just trying to get more steps in my day was avg of 300 steps a day now avg.3000 a day. Do what works for you and you will be fine. Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App -

Got approval today
allies journey replied to fancypants11578's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was praying for early approval, got mine 12 days after Dr.submitted paperwork but now 5 wks wait for surgery. But good luck to all of you and I know too well the grief of losing your loved ones. I have lost 5 siblings, a niece and both parents all since 2000 and the fear of not being here for my own children and grandchildren is what keeps me focused on the way I have to take care of myself. I am 61 and plan to reach 90. That being said focus on the positive side of the effects the surgery is going to have on your life, be strong and determined to gain and keep control of your life and health. .
