Pre surgery bloodwork shows borderline anemia. Should I still go for RNY or switch to sleeve?
allies journey replied to punkyisland's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think that if your surgeon says you can still have the RYN and isn't overly concerned about the bloodwork you should go with your original plan. Especially if you have GERD.Good luck and trust your doctor. Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app -

From Denial to Appeal to Approval
allies journey replied to CharlotteWebb's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I lost 87 lbs and went from size 24w to 12/14 ladies but never have reached my goal. Lots of other medical issues with other surgery so have not been able to exercise at all until recently. I just want to feel better. Allie in SC Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
From Denial to Appeal to Approval
allies journey replied to CharlotteWebb's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am now in process of getting approved for the RYN due to the reflux disease that I have had for 30 years it's way worse than it was before the sleeve 2 plus years ago. Now taking 10 pills a day just for the reflux and the meds are not working properly at all. I'm either totally nauseous or vomiting all the time. Having lots of tests to get data for insurance company to backup the doctor saying it is necessary for me to do this. I did sleeve surgery going by the surgeon advice and wasn't told that I had the option. Anyway my sleeve surgery went fine but the hernia repair is now back as well. Can you tell me how long it took to get approval?? Good luck to you. Allie in SC Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Your experience was horrendous and that nurse should be fired.Shes supposed to show you support and not degrade you or your family. Please notify the hospital director and your surgeon as i am sure that he will want to make sure that never happens to one of his patients again.. My daughter is a nurse and would be mortified if I or anyone she was caring for were treated like you were. I had the sleeve and I am waiting for approval for the bigger full bypass surgery. I hope you and your family don't think every one is like that nasty woman. Good luck to you. Allie Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Bypass v’s Sleeve..... help!
allies journey replied to MinnieSD's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hey, I had the sleeve 2016,no complications from the surgery or recovery process. But my Reflux disease has gotten much worse because of it.My gastrointestinal doctor says I should of had the complete bypass. So my bariatric surgeon now agrees as instead of taking 2 pills a day for reflux disease I am now taking 10 pills a day. Am currently waiting for approval from insurance company to get the big surgery. Hopefully you are doing great. Good luck with your journey. Staying positive. I am NOT happy
allies journey replied to Spectra13's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My goodness, you are really struggling. I am so sorry. .I am having my sleeve surgery in 13 days. I feel like it's my only hope. Although weight loss is a super big bonus for me it's about getting my health on track and off over Half the meds I am taking. Are you doing your protein drinks? ?That should give you energy. MAYBE you should talk to the nutritionist. . Have you lost some weight? ? Maybe you should see your Dr.too if you're not on antidepressant maybe you should consider it for a while. Gosh , I hope things get better for you. Good luck and just keep your chin up. Set small goals and focus on the end result not so much on what foods your currently missing. I know easier said than done and I have not experienced it yet but this is a lifestyle change not a quick fix . Again best of luck. . Allie -
I am 13 out from getting the surgery, so glad you posted today. We're you anxious B4 surgery? I am not worried about the actual surgery, just about how I am going to deal with drinking small amounts of fluids after surgery. I am so used to drinking constantly and always thirsty. But it's great to see someone doing so well. Good luck with your journey! Allie

Do male loose weight faster than female?
allies journey replied to etorres's topic in The Guys’ Room
My experience with weight loss and men is yes they do lose weight faster than women. No matter what diet or exercises they do. NOT FAIR, lol but do what surgeon and dietitian tells you and be amazed. Not sure if guy's get what they call a 3 week stall like the women do but don't get discouraged if it happens. .. Allie Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App -
