Hi all, I'm hoping for a bit of advice. I'm 7 weeks out of surgery...lost 12 lbs the first to weeks and then stopped losing completely. Then had my first fill about 2 weeks ago and lost 6 lbs in like 4 days and I've been at the same weight since. I have a feeling that it's due to the fact that I'm having a really hard time eating anything in the mornings. I just have absolutely no appetite. I've never really been a Breakfast person, but I know I should be getting atleast 60g of Protein a day. They also say that it's best to eat breakfast within an hour of waking up to kick start your metabolism. I've tried it all...protein shakes (I'm so disgusted with them), slimfast shakes, eggs....I can't even get down a cup of yogurt or a cheese stick. I'm just grossed out. I can't explain the feeling. And then noon comes around and I'm starving. I do get in most of my fluids through just plain Water and sometimes crystal light. But I'm really struggling here and not losing! It's been almost 2 months since surgery and only an 18 lb loss. I see others losing SO much more and it's so frustrating. I do have a little restriction already but I definitely need alot more. I'm just aggravated... Any suggestions anyone? Anything would be appreciated...thanks for listening to my rant.

Shamrockgirl, I just wanted to let you know that I had my surgery done at Lahey on June 5th by Dr. Nepomnashy...he was amazing and the after care is phenomenal. Especially right after surgery...just know that you're in the best hands! This is the best hospital experience I've ever had and I would do it over again in a heart beat! Good luck!!:thumbup:By the way...I've lost about 30 lbs in 7 weeks in case you were wondering! -
Yes it is! For me atleast. I had my surgery on June 5th...I lost 12 pounds 2 weeks after surgery and then came to a complete stop! I was just trying to maintain for the last month so as to not gain any weight back. And I stuck to the diet the doc gave and I didn't. But I also didn't lose anything. I went in for my first fill last week on the 16th and I lost 6 lbs in 4 days!!! It's really crazy. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones...I've already got some restriction. Good luck!

I wanna come too!!! Somewhere beachy does definitely sound most appealing...maybe because I haven't actually been to the beach in over 4 years because I refuse to put a bathing suit on. :crying: It really sucks because I love the ocean soooo much...and I need a tan big time!! haha Count me in....Vegas is really not my thing, I gamble enough at Foxwoods so I'd rather stay away! I'm sure alot of you were self pay for the surgery (I wasn't thankfully) so Vegas is not the best place if you're trying to save money (or in my case, paying off alot of debt)!!! -
Good luck with getting off that horrible shot!!! I had gotten one shot and then decided that I didn't want it anymore...and I bled for 10 months straight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It really messed up my body!!!! My best advice would be to stay the hell away from that shot if at all possible!!!!!

I agree with Cathy! I'm almost 4 weeks out and I have no pain whatsoever...but the first 2 weeks were hell!!! Had to have hubby or anyone else around help me up. It really does take a good couple of weeks to feel completely normal and pain free again. Hang in there, you'll make it!! Try taking some tylenol, I hear it works for many!

Sirius I'm on the exact same page as you...had my surgery June 5th and I've lost 13 pounds. But I've been eating...I don't know about you guys but this mushie diet has been hell for me!! I just had a turkey burger (no bun and just a bit of ketchup) for lunch today. I'm sooo full. I'm supposed to wait another week to eat solid foods but I can't do it. Doc said it would be ok to start the next week's diet a few days early. So I've in essence been eating everything under the sun. Chewing really well and very very small portions, but nonetheless eating. I'm also really disgusted with the Protein drinks and the new "bullets" that I've been taking...which is probably contributing to my hunger!! I guess this is "bandster hell" as they say...can't wait to get my first fill!! Best of luck to you all!

I'm sorry but I couldn't help but laugh when I read your message. I was making dinner for my hubby and parents the other night and without even thinking about it, I popped a piece of romaine lettuce into my mouth while making the salad. Boy did I make a mistake!!! That sucker took 45 mins to get down and it hurt like hell!!! Evil lettuce! hahaha Also, the other night, I had a piece of watermelon....now I know I'm not supposed to be having these things but I'm at about wit's end with this mushie diet already!!! My doctor's diet is alot stricter than most people's that I've read on here!!! 3rd and 4th week is only oatmeal, cottage and riccotta cheese and mashed potatoes!!!:tt1: So it's been really hard not to stray. Anyhow...I ended up having a major PB...I finally know what PB and SLIMING is...and it was gross!!! But I have to say, I did feel better afterwards. It just sucks cuz I love watermelon...and I'm not sure if I'm ever gonna want to have it again. I just hope I didn't do any damage to my band during my healing process. :tt1: This band journey is gonna be one hell of a ride... Good luck to you and hope you're feeling better! -
So today I've started my SF FF pudding, cream soups, V8 juice and LF yogurt! How excited I was to finally get some flavor...but now I have no appetite for some reason...I'm not even hungry! I forced myself to have some soup and I've been sipping on the V8 and that's about it! I go to see my Surgeon in an hour...let's see what he says. How's everything with you?

Tomorrow will be a week for me and I'm already feeling better...and planning on going back to work for atleast a half day. Wishing us both a speedy recovery!!! ~H -
Thursday, June 5th...I'm sooo nervous!!! HELP!
Love2Lose replied to Love2Lose's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi All... So I promised that I would check back in when I got home and let you all know how things went. Surgery went very smoothly...and I woke up in the recovery room with alot of pain. So they had me on a morphine drip that I could press the button any time and get a dose of it. Later on in the evening they took that off and put me on liquid Roxicet. I was up and walking from the moment they brought me up to my private room...but I was also in alot of pain and I couldn't pee until about 8PM! Well, the pain hasn't really gone away yet. It's Friday nite and I'm still having a really hard time. I've also found myself to be very hungry...the broth and Jello just aren't cutting it. I started my Protein drinks as soon as I got home and I feel like either I'm having too much fluids or I don't know what. I feel super bloated. I can't stand the after taste that the sugar free Jello is leaving in my mouth and I'm starting to really get sick of the broth already. And I still have until next Thursday for the Week One diet! Yuck! Does anyone have any suggestions of what I can eat other than the jello and broth? I'm feeling queasy at times as well, but I think that may be from the Roxicet. That, or I'm having too much jello and broth!!! Guys...I really must say, I'm glad I went through with this and all...but I'm in ALOT of pain! The surgeon's assistant told me that the younger you are, the more intense the pain is. Is that true? I'm really hurting here!! I can barely get up or sit down on my own. The getting up is especially hard. I guess I just didn't expect this much pain. Anyhow, I'm going to try to get some rest now. Talk to y'all soon! -

Hugs to all of you!!! ~Hilda -
Hi All, Well, I've been on this site for a while now but this is my first actual post. I finally hit the required 15 lb weight loss that I needed to get booked for surgery a couple of weeks ago, quit smoking since Feb 25th, and I saw my Surgeon (Dr Nepomnashy, Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA) on Tuesday and he gave me the green light for June 5th. Like most of you, I've been overweight most of my life. I am 26 yrs old, 5'9, 252lbs and I'm really looking forward to having this done. I haven't told many people about it...just my hubby, immediate family and my boss. I really want to keep this private. But everyone who does know has been really supportive. So as the date is getting closer, (5 days away now) I'm starting to get really nervous. Do I really want to go through with this? Am I going to regret this decision later? Am I going to FAIL? I think that's the part that's scaring me the most...getting the band and then FAILING. I just can't bare to hear anyone (my mom in particular) saying that even after getting banded that I failed because of lack of self control or whatever it may be. And then I've been reading about people getting the band removed due to erosion and gaining the weight back. I don't think I could stand to go through that!! I guess I'm looking for some words of encouragement from people who have been there, done that. I really haven't even considered backing out of surgery...I'm just scared I guess. Did anyone feel this way before surgery? It's not the surgical part that's scaring me at all...it's the HUGE LIFE CHANGE AFTER!
