Hi there! I'm dangeroussummer11 ^_^
I was referred by my family doctor to the Ontario Bariatric Network back in December 2015. My orientation session for gastric bypass was on February 24, 2016. Admittedly I was very hesitant - 23 years young and told that I need to go have this extreme surgery was an emotional blow that I wasn't ready for.
I've been to a few more appointments, sessions, and have read a bunch of material. Through those experiences, I have decided that this is something I need to do for myself and my health. It is no longer a way of life that I should be living. Suicide by fork and knife is never something that I wanted for myself. Even when I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer when I was 18, I never expected my body could get any worse. Reality check - it did.
Food is my best friend. The kind that helps you get through tough times, the kind that makes you feel good, the kind that explodes your mind with the type of places it can take you. But at the same time, it is also the worst kind of friend. It makes you feel terrible about what bad stuff you've put into your body, it makes you hate shopping, it makes you fear someone seeing you in a bathing suit, and most of all...it makes you start to hate yourself.
So from here on out, I am dedicating my time to making sure I make the most of this journey. I hope to see everyone on the other side!!
