Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Reflux - I had severe reflux before surfery, but nothing since. I did have a very large hiatel hernia repaired at time of surgery and that is what made a big difference in not having reflux. I think I may be at or near my sweet spot. definitely limited to about 3oz of hard protein if that much. Eating 3 meals and a few snacks is my routine. but I do know if you don't eat hard protein you will be hungry sooner and want more..and that is a killer on your calorie count too I was eating around mt band with softer fooeds and gained weight, so am trying to be super aware of what I eat -
Lots of snow!!!!!! I remember times similar in Rochester,NY. Your area is getting slammed, sorry about all your other issus, none of them fun to deal with. Vacations, here it comes!!!!

After a visit to my surgeon last wek I have tried to get back to basics... seems to be working: by Friday I was down 2#... gonna keep myself on track, a swift kick in the pants.. I so want to continue to lose and get to goal... And my goal seems to change.. all depends on my menatal state... gee 150# would be great, but I am satisfied here at around 170-175#.. Need to keep on the losing track.. -
buying new clothes in smaller sizes is always a lift to ones demeanor. Bet it was fun sending the pics of the new you ff to your sisters.

Since going to the DR on Tuesday I have been good about folloiwng the "rules" and lost 2.5 #.. Great incentive to keep on track. It was a difficult few weeks. I was eating out all the time. refrigerator was out of commission and had to wait 2 weeks for parts and repairman...UGH.. that was tough on weight loss, but I am ready to get my A$$ back in gear.. Good news. I have a new gentleman friend. Great guy, he only knows I have lost alot of weight I did not tell him about the band yet. That is alo a challenge, we eat out occassionally, but there i am able to order appropriately.. Have a good weekend everyone, stay healthy, be safe -

Katy - so sorry for all the problems you are having. My prayers are with you. It is a good thing to have gotten to this new surgeon, but very upsetting to hear about the track record of your surgeon who did the band in the first place God Bless and only good thought for you -
Great NSV Harley. I also vote to see the ad..

plateaus=frustration simply said. Working hard to keep on track Sweets, chocolate are my downfalls lately,,, need help to get out of that rut!!!:mad2: We can all do this-say YES I CAN!!!

Is that the conference from ObesityHelp.com? I had looked into tha tone March 20, 21, even if I drove up and shared a room the $$$ at this time would kill me. Lay-offs predicted at work...a hospital, no less!!!!!! So have to watch the budget. I was really looking forward to it though. Yes, we are all ready to celebrate out band-aversary..yippee!!!! We all can say we are a success, choosing to go for the surgery, following the guidelines, making lifestyle changes. WTG for all of us!!!:mad2:

PLATEAUS - do suck. I have been at the same point, give or take a few pounds for 2+ months. My surgeon told me yesterday to get back to the basic: portion size, protein, exercise. She asked if I had been eating around the band. and I did have to say yes, at times. knowing I could have discomfort makes me choose softer foods. she said not to do that. Eat regularly. slow and chew..Wants me back in a month to see how I am doing.. I have lost 75# and always said I was looking for the 100# mark. I will admit I am comfortable where I am now, but do want to lose 15-20 more...but am taking things back to basics and go from there.. -

I know that when the pain comes I have definielty over sone it... too much food I usually start to burp when i have had too much food. If I base my intake in measured amounts I do better.. I went to my surgeon yesterday and got told to make sure I measure, track my food and eat solids. I have been sliding down foods lately...therefore eating more than I should..so I have to go back in a month,,, my 1 year bandaversary and see how I am doing...I have to get my mind around this again 100% I can come up with all kinds of excuses, but the bottom line is I have been slipping and need to get back to the program.. -
Fenton - how about a nice walk in the crisp morning mountain air....brrrrrrrrr
-
Fenton - gym at 6am... WTG. I know I could go at that time before work , but opt for after work. the gym is on my way home..one reason that I joined there. I am looking forward to the time change so I can go walking after work. I miss being outside and the dog enjoys the walk too. Trouble with stress and excess tightness in the band.. very sensitive in the area around the port, too. lots of ?? for my surgeon at Tuesday's appt.

I have an appt with my surgeon tomorrow. I know I will not be getting a fill. but will have questions on the sensitivity in the area around the band. Exercise does make it twinge, but there is discomfort at other times too. Stress is my enemy with the band. It tightens up...and there has been plenty of stress lately... Wish I couldget past this palteau. I have been the same weight for more than a month.. Katy, thoughts are with you as you wait your appt on Friday -

NSAIDS - I was also told not to take ever. and with a flare up of my bursitis in my shoulder I was concerned.. I ended up with a cortizone shot to remedy that pain.. I may ask my DR tomorrow about short term use, just to know for future I have had lots of pain around my port area: has anyone else experienced this?? -
Congrats to all on their weight losses. Still struggling here..

Katy - I would definitely have a lonng dicussion with my GP.. ask about other surgeon options. go prepared with ???? Is there anyone else in the surgeon's office you could speak with before the scheduled appt date? -
I am getting very frustrated, another week of no loss, no gain either ...which is good... but still frustrated at no movement on the scale at all.
-
Cathy - Happy Birthday, enjoy Fenton - you never know what a bunch of women will talk about. We have all learned so much from each other.. Weigh in today - yuck I am dreading it. No exercise this week, eating out, still no repair for my refrigerator... I will get on the scale... hesitantly!!! Happy Valentine's Day a day early!!!!
