I know the groups take away from exercise time, and I do enbjoy the walks, I wish the meetings were at 7:30pm, we could walk and then go to them :w00t: but that is wishful thinking I am free every night this week, but do plan on attending both meetings, at least for now. I may try to get a walk in during the day on Tuesday. I am working half day and have a lull in detween my 2 doctor appts. anyone want to go to the dentist for me :tongue2: See those who are walking Sunday 8:45am Longwood gardens is a great place to visit, I have not been there in years

Kim - we missed you? we waited until around 6:15 and when you did not show we headed out. Lisa showed up too. planning on 8:45am on Sunday, same place.. Lisa - I got home, showered and was out the door and after I got home from dinner I thought it might be too late to give you a call. So I'll try SAturday morning to get hold of you, or you can give me a call. Who else is planning on the support group meeting at APEX building on Tuesday night and the other meeting Wednesday night with Dr. Wynn?

Another 2.7 miles tonight. I feel great. There were 3 of us walking, all banders...we agreed that walking with someone else is so much easier than alone and being able to talk about what is or is not working for us and sharing in the SV & NSV. We plan on heading out again Sunday morning. I haven't done any other types of exercise, but am happt with the walking. I have my exercise ball and will go an dbuy some resistance bands and gonna start working on my arms and mis section..... Want to look my best for my nephew's wedding 5/18. fist time i have seen family since late January...... The positive comments from my co-workers are a definite NSV. I guess the word got out while I was out of work for thoise 3 weeks. That is ok. because that also gives me extra incentive o be on task with my eating at work!!!!! Thinking positive +++++ each minute, each hour, each day is one more step to a healthier life. -

just want to say without this site i may be having a tough time. I am doing great with portion control and even getting in some exercise. but never know if i have any restriction. I am so conscious of not ewating too much that I have not really given myself a chance to know if there is restriction. I am able to eat just over 1 cup of food now and go to my DR on 5/9. Guess she will decide if i get my fiest fill. I am still losoing 2# per weeks and have lost a total of 30# since January, and of that just about 15 is post op.. guess that is about average and I am happy. Please give me some feed back as to if I am expecting too much too soon or on track Thanks so much -
More NSV congratulations. Me too. I wore a pair of pants to work yesterday, only the 2nd time I had them on. I wore them 4 1/2 weeks after surgery and they felt pretty good. The other day, 6 weeks pot op, I felt like I was loosing them all day. So off to the clothes swap pile. Fenton - such an eloquent PB description.... A feeling we all will never forget. I find if I do not eat several small amounts throughout the day I tend to eat too fast. So luckily I have string cheese, yogurt, protein bars and some protein mixes at my desk. Just keeps the edge off during the day. And I am able to keep within my guidelines for intake.. Walking has been a great incentive for me, Have been walking with a local group, Delaware, and try to go as often a possible. we manage 2.7 miles in around 50 minutes. That I feel it a great NSV in itself. Getting through the path and not huffing and puffing all the way. I am with the others, this site is a great benefit and inspiration to my lapband journey to a healthir life.

Count me in for walking Friday night and most likely Sunday AM. 6pm Friday, ok, if not let me know, I can possibly get there by 5:30pm this Friday, just let me know I just got home from my administrative assistant dinner with the bosses. We went to Carraba's up in chadds Ford. I was good, some baked scallops and shrimp and a few fried calamari. I passed on dessert and had decaf coffee. It was so good and I ate it over a 45 minute period so it was not an issue with any pbing or feeling too full. Talk wit you all later. Look forward to another fun walking evening.

isn't it great to be able to bend over, stretch, and just move easier. Not having that extra stuff in front of you, even though I still have plenty to get rid of, and the way clothes fit. I am having such fun pulling things from my closet and wearing them. it is like a whole new wardrobe,, I am getting into clothes I bought over a year ago and said to myself, I know I'll be in them soon. Well, saoon is now, YIPPEE......

First of all, I think we were all in posting withdrawal yesterday. I look forward to reading the posts and had nothing ..... So glad things are back in working order. Today will be a food challenge for me. For administrative Assistant week the bosses are taking us to dinner. We are heading to Carraba's. I have never been there, but thankfully their menu is online and several of their items are listed in TheDailyPlate website. I think I am gona stick with baked or broiled seafood. NO PASTA, I hope. I dread reaching a plateau. They have always been my weight loss downfall. But at least when I reach one this time I will not be able to realy binge eat. The band will remind that I am not to do that and keep me on track. So far 30# since the first of the year, 16 of it is post surgery... Off to a long day at work and then dinner. Have a great day, everyone

Kerri - thanks for the link. I took a look at it and they seem simple enough. I already have the exercise ball so need to get the reisitance bands, but definitely something I can work on at home.

i get little fiber into my diet. I have not tried any fiber bars, are there any that actually taste somewhat good? I will admit I do not ned fiber to go daily, that is never an issue I will have bloodwork done end of May before post op appt with endocrinologist...see what my cholesterol is then. I still take lipitor and bp meds, along with vitamins, but nothing else. it is great to go from 8 pills down to 4 -

I am still amazed at the 30# total weight loss since the first of the year. I see my DR 5/9 and hoping for a fill, I am eating more, but not too excess. And there are those times that even 1 or 2 bites of something will bother me. but am learning more each day on what is best to eat and how to manage it all. I am so glad I decided to get the band. To think back in December when I was going through all the pre op appointments I was not sure it was for me. Also, being a WW gal, I have so many recipes and portion references that I am able to use. My l;ast diet success was South Beach. I lost about 20# and then sabotoged myself. So another reason I am happy to have made the choice to change my life for the better. -
I am planning on walking Wednesday evening, around 6pm at 896/40 path in Glasgow. Anyone else gonna come along..?? Just let any of us know. Kim, come join the group. HopeInApril and I walked last evening...were able to complete it in about 50 minutes, and before any rain. A few times while walking i felt a few sprinkles, but no real rain. Next week I am hoping to get to the gym here at work a few times a week and work on my arms. The facility is free for us and I want to make use of the services Well, better get back to work Catch up with you all later Lynn

another 2 # in the past week.. I am so happy. total loss since beginning this process is 30#, and almost !% of that is post surgery. Continuing to struggle with carbs, but am trying hard to keep the # down. Exercise is picking up.. and I am actually enjoying myself. Well, have to get back to work Lynn -
I agree, get rid of the chocolate. I have been so tempted myself to but just one candy bar at the grocery store checkout. I have a great alternative: you can get a great chocolate pudding cup, South Beach Diet Living. Find it in the grocery store where the jello pudding cups are. It is my treat when i am having that chocolate craving. Today is my weigh in day. first thing when I get to work this morning. I am retiring some clothes, at 6 weeks post op. I am so excited. I broke down and bought a few new shirts to treat myself. I wanted to have something a bit more fashionable than my boxy blouses, and getting them a size smaller... yippee :biggrin2: My walking group is great. We try to go out whenever possible and with 4 of us walking now we usually get at least 2 of us at a time to get out there. Last night another night if 2.7 miles in 50 minutes and not being winded felt so good. Still trying to post my picture, but it gets on here so big....any hints Fenton, congrats on the book, I definitely am going to read it. I love to read!!!!! and to all, congrats on all the weight loss and accomplishments. Keep up the good work Lynn

I have just begun with a group of Delaware banders. Hope to walk at least 3X tims week, usually just under 3 miles in less than an hour. I will adnit I have a tough time getting anything else added in. Carbs more than calories are my downfall. Seems nearly impossible to keep that to a decent number. Everything else seems to fall into place. I have figured out that in order to get enough veggies in I need to make that a priority. Tonight for dinner I had a Birds-Eye veggie dish and added a bit of cheese for protein. Very filling and great flavor. Weigh in will be Tuesday AM, so anxious to see how I have done in the past week. -
I see the dietition on April 29, but may call this week to see about the carbs. I am at about 800-900 calories a day, depending on what I eat. And I do agree, the carbs are high in cottage cheese and milk, and bananas...guess I'll cut back a bit on them.. I'll see HopeInApril and anyone else tomorrow night at 6pm, 896/40. I am mixing mushies and soft solid for the next week-10 days. I am supposed to have "real", regular diet a few days before my next appt. with Dr. Wynn, 5/9. There are times I think there is restriction, but beginning to think it is from eating too fast...My main problem with food, as well as portion size..I know that is what helped me get to this point. I am interested in how my weight loss is doing.. I'll step on the scale at work Tuesday morning Delaware, thanks for posting the next 2 meetings. I have been looking for my paperwork with the dates...

so many to read and catch up on and I was only away fro 1 1/2 days!!!!! I too feel my port, but it only bothers me when i push on the area too hard. And there is a nagging pulling sensation on my left side, just below my ribcage. I am a faithful Tuesday AM weigher. The first thing I do when I get to work is hit the scale. I weighed on it the day before my surgery so use that as my guide. I think mt DR scale is a bit different, but as long as I see it go down in ### I am happy. I swore I would not buy any new clothes until my nephews, wedding in 1 month, but broke down yoday and bought a few shirts. Most of my pants I have been wearing will still pass, but are feeling much looser. Fenton, There are always piles of clothes of differing sizes in our closets. I think we all can agree with that. I have a little bit for the next 2 sizes smaller, but not alot, and unfortunately the seasons of the items are a bit off with mother nature..:confused2: Not looking for a fill until my next appt, on 5/9. I can eat small ampunt at times and other times feel like I want more. I am getting better at reading the signs of when to stop. I just have to remember to eat a little bit every few hours and not wait until i am starving. I find that to be when I run into eating too fast and feeling lousy. There ia a group of us Lapbanders, here in Delaware that have formed an informal walking group. Hoping we can keep each other motivated and get out there on a regular basis. Yesterday I walked a 3 mile course for a MS fund raiser, and did it in just over 45 minutes... Now time to get outside for some gardening, UGH to all who have to still deal with the snow!!

I am up for walking on Monday and Friday. And if anyone else wants to walk Wednesday I am game for that too. I drove around behind College Square, the area you said had the walking path, but saw nothing. How is it marked. 6pm is the best time for me, no matter what night, if anyone else can make that time. Just let me know where for Monday night. I got back from Lancaster late. It was raining there so I stayed a bit longer. Hope your walk this morning was envigorating! I tried do hard this weekend to stay within the eating guidelines, and think i did fairly well. I don't know how we are supposed to keep our carbs around 30g, i find that near to impossible. Is anyone else having trouble with that? Lynn

I would love to walk Sunday. I will not be back from Lancaster until about 1pm.. so if you go in the afternoon let me know. I am still planning on Wednesday night if anyone else is up for it? Just send me an e-mail or post it here, I will check the site when i get home. I did the 3 mile MS walk this morning. and we finished in just under 50 minutes. It frlt good. I will admit by the time I gopt home I was getting stiff. Hit the shower and relaxed a bit. I went out to dinner tonight, baked (5)scallops and crab cake, with some cottage cheese. I did bring most of the crab cake home, So dinner for another night is set! Does anyone else have trouble getting in their veggies? Talk with everyone tomorrow Lynn :tongue_smilie:

I made sure I had sf jello and popsicles, lite & fit yogurt, I had the healthy request or redued fat campbells soup, I would have the broth but not the veggies, meat and noodles. Don't forget your vitamins, calcium and multi bit. everyone says the flintstone gunnies are great. I opted for a generic children's chewable, and yuck... they are going to my grandson... If you take medication regularly also have a pill crusher/cutter. and of course a supply of protein mixes and a blender or magic bullet to mix everything. Good luck on Monday, you will do great -
I had my surgery 3/19 with Dr. Wynn. I am not sure about self pay, but there are ceryin preop clesrances that they do require and most insurances will cover them, cardio, pulmonology, endo. Talkw with HopeInApril, she was self pay for surgery. The seminar is very informative. And if you have insurance, payment questions they will have you talk with Misty, she is the insurance wizz of the office. I was told no lifting over 10# for 4 weeks, and have just hit that mark. Good luck, and let us know how things are going .. Lynn

lost another 2# this week. total loss since I began this whole process in November 2007 is 28#, of that 13# is post op. so I am happy. Since begining the mushies last week it has been a bit difficult to get everything in in the right amounts. As well as getting back to work. Luckily I have a fridge in my office and can bring all kinds of right choices. My foos journal is a god send. Without I would be at a loss. TheDailyTable.com HopeInApril, looking forward to our group walk Wednesday, and hope we can make it a regular event. Next visit with Dr. is 5/9 and maybe my first fill. Right now I am eating about 1/2 - 1 cup permeal, and that depends on what I am eating. Another week or so for mushies, then onto more soft foods. This has been the best thing I have done for myself in such a long time. Moving forward to a healthier life Lynn
