Chewing but not swallowing
mrsNilla replied to atzvsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To the op and anyone else who didn't like the sound advice given, albeit several times. What you may or may not realize, is that there is a lot of people just reading and not posting. What the veterans are doing is making sure that they don't start any self destructive behavior, in addition to giving advice to the op. Eating disorders or doing something that can damage your newly operated pouch or sleeve will be adressed firmly, since it can lead to dangerous situations. If you want private advice, don't post on public board. Simple. Nilla -
Stupid things people say when they find out you've had surgery....
mrsNilla replied to Awjones28's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My eating buddy switched topics when I told her. The only comment I ever got was to let her know I made it thru surgery. Hubby is great, he supports me. Even to the extent that he told me that my pre-op was going so great, maybe I don't need it anymore? My blabber mouth Mom who always wants to make sure she weighs less than me just knows I'm on a diet. My skinny assistant was happy, because now she got a weight loss buddy?!? All the extra check ups I had to do with my regular drs went really well. Everyone were so supportive. I thought I would share my wls with everyone, but it will be limited to those people who really have an interest. But I won't lie if someone asks. Maybe some snarky answers would be good to have as a back up for ignorant ppl... Nilla -
Am I going backwards?
mrsNilla replied to SleeveMeAlone214's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try the bariatric timer app? You insert the times when you eat and drink. Then just get into the mindset that the app will tell you when to eat and drink. And no seconds! I think it takes 2 weeks to get used to a new behavior, so just stick to it. Nilla -
Sorry, no celebrating here. My outfit that evening was hoodie, sweatpants & wool socks underneath a sherpa blanket. "Soon to be former obese person watching tv"? Nilla

How about some NSVs!?!?

I can't wait for my tighs to keep to their own sides!! Nilla -
Thank you, likeminded people! I'm still pre-op for about 17 days. I have been staying off this site and chosen the posts I read carefully. I have made a plan for my wls journey and I don't want to stray from it because someone else makes self destructive choices. I got worried that the bad attitudes would catch me like a cold. When I first joined, I found it amusing to read about the tacos, t-bone steaks by mistake and swedish fish beeing soft food. All the things you should know not to do if you did your research, even skimming through the basics. Lately I have been talking to people who have just had their surgeries, read up on complications and really thought about my choice. I find that more valuable than trying to talk to the people who made their bad choices already and end their posts with "no negative comments allowed". But then again, I need the people that make the mistakes, so my odds of reaching a healthy weight increases... Thanks for being here and please hold me accountable if I stray off my intendend plan! No fuzzy feelings or pretty packages required, I need to make the most of it! Nilla

Past life drive through foods...eye opener!
mrsNilla replied to The New Kel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My pre-op diet lunch, while I was reading your posts: salad, 1 egg, 2 slices of serrano ham and 1 tomato. It added up to 145 cal, 22g Protein, 3g carbs and 8g fat. The fat content and calories are really a little bit less, since I removed the visible fat from the ham. It was yummy! Ok, a little high on the sodium... Nilla What a shitty pic!! Sorry, at least you won't get hungry ???? Nilla -

Surgery 11/25 any advice?!
mrsNilla replied to Anastasia02119's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! I'm Nov 21st, all the way in Europe. There is a private fb group called RNY November 2016, if you want join. Just make a request and I'll add you. Most members are from the US. Nilla -
cheese lover here too! For now, snacking on a lower fat Magre. I also love local hard cheese that has red wine in it. Wine makers special... It's like a parmesan, but not as hard with a delicious red wine note. Yummy! costco is ok for cheeses. We usually get the sliced Finlandia, because it's closest to European cheeses. We are spoilt here! Nilla

I'm still on my pre-op diet, but I figured out (finally!!) that carbs are my enemy and Proteins my friend. Pretty basic, right? I ate carbs, I got cravings. I eat proteins, I stick to my diet. I'm getting rny on Nov 21st and my diet is going so well that my hubby asked (very nicely, I might add) if I really need it. It'll be my insurance, in case I get some stupid ideas. Nilla

Pre-Op liquid diet day 1
mrsNilla replied to BrookeTiffani's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started my diet on monday, but mine allows for some veggies and lean meats, but in restricted amounts. The first days are usually the trickiest. I distract the cravings with flavoured tea like blueberry cupcake and apple cinnamon. Maybe try freezing a shake and eat like icecream? Haven't tried it yet, but I will at some point ☺ I have to say I have had a suprisingly easy time with my diet. Maybe because I put myself on a 1300 cal limit for a month before this final diet? My personal pre-op story. Enjoy!
mrsNilla replied to khalid151's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm getting the rny, but I really enjoyed your story. You have a very vivid way of describing sounds and feelings. Personally I'm just too curious to keep my eyes closed, even though I've seen op theaters a few times already. Good luck with going forward and peeling layers off the real you for the world to see! Ugh so much going on with my body
mrsNilla replied to kblanc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can I have regular yogurt while on liquid diet Sent from my HTC Desire 626s using the BariatricPal App Can I have regular yogurt with liquid diet Sent from my HTC Desire 626s using the BariatricPal App Check your plan or ask your surgeon or nut, since it depends on where you had your surgery. I would go with plain greek yogurt diluted with milk, add sweetener if needed. (if yogurt is on your plan) Nilla -
Ugh so much going on with my body
mrsNilla replied to kblanc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Which brand and where did u buy it Sent from my HTC Desire 626s using the BariatricPal App GENEPRO unflavored Protein powder seems to be popular. You can mix it to almost anything. Just be careful not to heat it, since it can lose some of it's potency. You can add it to warm broth but don't put the protein in the microwave. It also mixes to cold stuff like milk or yogurt. Use unsweetened almond milk if you have problems with lactose. Nilla -

Surgery date Nov 21st!
mrsNilla replied to mrsNilla's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a rare disease that might make me bleed more easily, so they want to check to be sure. Didn't matter that I already had my gallbladder and appendix removed, along with a few more surgeries. I never had a issue, but I go along so they can be more comfortable. I'm quite used to beeing poked by now... Nilla
