  1. So I've lost 117lbs and now I have a slip. My surgeon removed all the fluid to see if it gets better. I don't need to lose anymore weight but I'm nervous that I'll start gaining. I moved out of the state so I don't even have my surgeon anymore. I was traveling in town and got him him to see me. I also lost my job and insurance recently so my options are very limited. So worried about this...

    Be Honest, ARE YOU HAPPIER??

I too am defanitely happier. I have lost 57lbs to date. I have also had episodes of PB's but only due to eating inappropriately. If I stick to the guidelines given I have no problems. I wouldn't change it for the world. I would defanitely discuss your situation in detail with your doctor. I wonder if your getting the type of support you should be from the medical staff. Yes there are alot of people who have had issues but I think most of them would say it is probably because they didn't follow the guidelines and the ones who did are the exception. Good luck to you and hopefully you will find what will make you happy!!!!

    Lost my band - forever

I'm so sorry to hear that. Did you have any symptoms prior to the fever and pain? Any difficulty swallowing or anything at all? How devastating for you. I had my band in March of this year and would be truly traumatized to lose it at this point. Again I am so sorry

    Kind of Sad

I know it probably sounds silly but I'm really quite sad lately. I'm down 43 pounds now and I should be really happy about that. But a part of me won't let me truly celebrate this as I can't share it with my mom. She passed away unexpectedly in December. Three months before having my surgery. It's strange to not be able to share the important things in my world with her. This in particular she would have been so happy about. I still find myself wanting to pick up the phone and call her and it's like a slap in the face when I realize I can't do that. Anyway, thanks for letting me express my little pitty party with everyone.

So much for friendly support from other bandsters. Ouch! Let's all take a breath and relax. We all have a common goal. Can't we all just get along

    10 days post op

Yup sounds very normal. Most docs will say not to really count weight loss until you are off the liquids and onto regular food. My doctor said to count that as bonus weight. And the longer post op you will probably find yourself hungrier. It's the hardest part for most as you havent had a fill yet. As for the BM, your not eating anything solid so you will probably have much less in the way of BM's. I will sometimes, even six months out, go two weeks withough a BM and will have to do something to help things along  The sodium in soups can defanitely be an explenation for weight gain. I will carry up to three pounds just in water retention if I have too much sodium. Up to five pounds during my period. Try some mom to move the bowels and lower your sodium and drink lots of water and see what happens.

    Kind of Sad

Thank you all for your support. It is good to know that their are others who do know how I feel. It has been a tough year all around a actually a tough couple of years. I lost my dad two years ago and my only sister a month after that. it's strange to have so many around you but still feel very alone. I understand that is a very normal part of the grieving process (I'm an expert at it by now). Again, thanks for the kind words and thoughts. I'm so glad I found this site so I have others to go through this journey with me

Sounds like a call to your surgeon is in order. Even if it turns out to be nothing better safe than sorry!!!!

    Sticking after fill

Thanks all for the replies. Perhaps I will go back to liquids for a couple days and see what happens. I do wish I knew how much my doc put in. He won't tell as he doesn't want patients comparing amounts. He did tell me that I needed to be careful now as I am tighter than I have ever been. So we shall see!!!!! Thanks again.

    Sticking after fill

I had my third fill this week and am having trouble eating much of anything. It seems like everything I eat is sticking. I can usually keep it down but it is very painful for a good half hour after I eat and I have a lot of sliming (yuck). Anyone know if this should get better or should I go in and get an unfill? Don't really want to do that as I have not lost anything in the last month before this fill. Thoughts????

Any other banders in 20's-30's in Az

I am also in Glendale and would love to get together with other bandsters. I'm a little late in posting so if you haven't already done something please let me know....I'd like to be involved when you do!!!!!
  17. Seven hours and still in pain? I would think this may require a call to your Surgeon. Better safe than sorry.

What foods can you NOT eat since the surgery?

I am three months in and have had one fill. So far I have only found two things that cause any issue at all. Oatmeal I can't eat at all and scrambled eggs can be difficult. I have no problem with any meat, bread, pasta, rice, just about anything I want. I am very careful about how much though and chew very well.

    RE: Vacation After Banding

I went on vacation just three days after banding. I didn't do a lot of physical activity though as it was for my mom's funeral. At three or four weeks I would think you would be alright. I had infection issues that kept me from healing for awhile but would have been fine otherwise. The hardest part was the liquid and then soft foods while traveling. Good luck

    any other az bandster's?

Hi there, Just putting in my experience. I had my band done March 19 by Dr. Terry Simpson. So far my exprience has been very good. He is incredibally accessible. He makes himself available though his personal email at all times. I called the office with a concern the other day and was put through immediately to the Dr. Himself. He is also a very nice man. Just my thoughts.

First Fill Today -- Positively PAINLESS!!!

I had my first fill yesterday and I too was surprised at how painless it was. My doc however will not tell me how much he put in. He wants his patients to judge how they actually feel and has seen people psychologically decide they need a fill because someone else got more than they did. It makes sense I suppose but I was still a little frustrated. I mean, it's my body right. I also have gone two weeks with no weight loss to all of a sudden losing three pounds almost over night. I guess it will come off when it's ready to come off.
  23. If you are already experiencing issues with the office staff it probably would be a good idea to look elsewhere. This type of procedure requires so much support and after care with fills and such that having a difficult support staff can make the whole process so much more difficult. It may not be a bad idea to let the surgeon know the reason behind your going somewhere else. He should be awaire that his staff is costing him business and reflecting negatively on his reputation.

    Can't give up COFFEE!

My doctor says coffee is absolutely fine. I have one or two small cups each day. I would perish without it!!!
  25. I have told everyone that would listen!!!! I am very excited and proud that I have done something that will make me healthier and happier. I havn't had any bad responses except for one person who made a comment about spending so much money on myself. But who the heck cares what she thinks. I'm the one who has to carry around the weight. And my friends and famiily are all behind me. Hopefully soon there will be less of a behind to be behind :frown:
