  1. I was feeling "plugged" two weeks post op today. Yesterday I took three generic bus idyl tabs. Six hours later, small firm bm. Have had several small mushy, loose stools since. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Gourmet food

Wow! Didn't mean to cause an upset. My diet per my surgeon was to stay with clear liquid if nausea was an issue. If no nausea, I could advance to thicker liquids then soft mushy foods. Please note I did NOT eat any toast. I have fought with diabetic gastroparesis for over a year and my physicians are well aware of my ability to know my body and what it will and won't tolerate. Yes, I had the same gastric bypass RNY, yes I will lose weight, yes I expect to have different dietary needs. I am two weeks post op and am thrilled with how things are progressing. I haven't had pain meds since discharge from the hospital. I am able to get my Protein shakes and Water requirements most days. After vomiting pretty much everyday for over a year, three bites of cottage cheese seemed like a huge victory. Each of our journeys is unique, both before surgery and after. This board is a great place to Celebrate the small victories and milestones AND to ask for support and encouragement when things are not meeting our expectations. 3. Who knew that low fat cottage cheese was such a delicacy! Five days post op GBRNY plus hiatal hernia repair for good measure. I feel great today. Got cleaned up and went to Breakfast with friends. Was going to try a scrambled egg but cold sounded better than hot. So glad I skipped the bite of toast I was coveting. I'm trying to focus on eating as an event, celebrating the food that I eat Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    New to this.

Thrush is a form of yeast infection in your mouth. You definitely want to have it checked. Someone on this board suggested gas x strips as being helpful Narcotics slow your bowels and may impede passing gas. You may want to try Tylenol and more walking. Feel better soon Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. So I think I'm doing pretty well for now five days postop. The pain is tolerable with Tylenol. I'm up moving around. No potty issues to speaks of. Apparently I'm supposed to have more issues so I stepped on a scorpion! Hurt like crazy most of the night. Now just kinda tingling at the site. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    No luck at all

They're probably the same cultures that see grey hair as a sign of wisdom... I've been grey since my early twenties but can't claim to be particularly wise Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    No luck at all

Benadryl and ice are the standard. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. My recovery had been great I've taken two doses of oxycodone but other than that has been plain old Tylenol. I do have a high pain tolerance so I wasn't too concerned with pain after surgery. I was more focused on not vomiting everything. Thank good ness for zifran
  9. I had GB/RNY Wednesday and feel pretty good this. My blood sugar was 400s post op. They gave me a ton of long acting insulin yesterday and small sliding scale. My sugar today55! I've only taken oxycodone twice, regular Tylenol had been perfectly adequate Mary Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. I had my surgery yesterday. I mentioned that I have over thirty five years as a nurse and was claustrophobic with mask. He came into the preop are. Told he kiss my family and that is all I remember Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. I had my surgery yesterday at 11. I didn't wake up until midnight. Was up in chair and walking at 4am. My only pain medication had been every 4 hours tylenol Forgot to say the surgeon may release me tomorrow. In addition to rNY I apparently had a large hiatal hernia the he repaired. I'm really not that sore today Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  13. I've been lurking on this site for a couple weeks. I'm impressed with all the knowledge and support. My story is a little bit different-I'm having RNY for gastroparesis. It's been a miserable year and a half and I'm ready to start feeling better! The side benefit includes getting rid of 50 extra pounds and hopefully better sugar control. I've been type two DM for 17 years but a year ago May things just went crazy. I got what I thought was a stomach virus. Whatever it was, I'm now insulin dependent and have had crazy complications. Autonomic dysfunction that makes my heart rate high and blood pressure low; lumbar sacral radiculoplexopathy (made me fall a lot); gastroparesis. At one point I was nearly bedridden This has all been incredibly frustrating for someone that has worked all their life and now can barely walk out to check the mail. Wish me luck. I feel a lot more prepared after reading this board. Mary in Az Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
