Does it make you CRAZY??
Southern Missy replied to Southern Missy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
WHOO HOO!! :w00t: CRAZY OR NOT -- I'M APPROVED!! I will be getting my date the 1st of this week! -
amsderb, For the apron, I actually use a tube sock. It is the perfect length and you just lay it right in the crease. It stays put until you take it out. Seems silly, I know, but all these other things can get costly over time. I honestly never get a rash unless the sock shifts and I don't know it. I like the sound of the liquid baby powder, though! Good luck!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Southern Missy replied to NicoleW8ing's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, I wasn't sure where to put this post and then thought that GRRrrr... seems to sum it all up! :rolleyes2: No word from the surgeon's office today. I guess it would really be too early to hear anything yet but I am on pins and needles. DH tells me, now if they say no, don't cry because it's not no, it's just not now...and it's not never, it's just when. What a sweet guy! HOWEVER, I am going insane with the wait. Not only that but I started on the preop diet today (like she told me to) and we had no food in the house. DH won't let me go to the grocery store until tomorrow so I scraped by -- although barely. Was a little irritable but not too bad.. didn't have the desire to really cheat. In fact, (patting myself on the back) DD made mashed potatoes with our supper and forgot to leave the butter out of mine so I made a baked potato and used FF dressing on it. Back in the day, I would have said, it's just a little butter.. what could it hurt? But I kept with it. Got in 6 glasses of Water today AND not a single coke. You know when it hit me, though... when I got up to go to work. I work from home and start work at 11 p.m. Hadn't realized until now how hard the little "wake up" snacking was going to be. I am going to have to come up with something for that. Is anyone else that way? Like, everytime I wake up from a nap or sleep (other than 1st thing in the morning) I want something sweet to eat. Probably just a habit more than anything. First time all day, though, that I had momentary panic of not being able to eat. Alright, I guess I'll get to work now. I just wanted to work through this 1st mini-crisis and have you all praying that maybe I'll get the phone call tomorrow. What a TGIF that would be! :tt1: -
Alright... SHRINKO de Mayo -- SO, SO CUTE!! If I get to schedule in May, that is what I'm calling myself! Where were you when we were trying to come up with names!?! :crying:

Does it bother you when people ask"how much weight have you lost"?
Southern Missy replied to ssh's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Just my opinion but I liken it to the question everyone gets when they're pregnant... you know the one(s): 1. When are you due? 2. Girl or boy? OR my personal favorite (NOT): 3. Are you sure you're going to make it that long?? Most of the time, I think it is just a way to make conversation. However, since you don't have the option of it ending after 9 months, I would do like Lanie said and come up with a way to diffuse it. I thought she had a GREAT suggestion! -
Well, now, that's a no brainer, it was definitely Azrael (sp)!

Abby, this is the rants & raves section **Off-Topic Debate Area** so it gives us a chance to discuss something other than the band since that shouldn't be life-encompassing! :tt2:

Tomorrow is my initial surgeon consulation!
Southern Missy replied to BabyNicole's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey BabyNicole.. I feel your excitement! I also have my nutrition appt. tomorrow and after that they are going to submit all my stuff to BCBS. The insurance coordinator told me to go ahead and start my preop diet tomorrow, too, because she felt like it would be approved. I am so scared to get my hopes up but, oops -- TOO LATE! :tt2: Let us know how it goes! Good luck to you! -
Alright, I'm all about the 80s but I have NEVER heard of that show BBK! :confused2: And I also have to ask, what's wrong with BIG hair?? :tt2:

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Southern Missy replied to NicoleW8ing's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know what you mean... about possibly getting put off. I have tried so hard not to get my hopes up that my insurance will approve me on the 1st try but the coordinator seemed so positive on Monday that it's hard not to. Don't feel bad, though, about having been upset about them moving your date... I was just trying to give you that "other perspective" to help you over the hump, not make you feel bad! :blushing: Glad it all turned out okay! -
Maybe when you give out your email you should also give out pointers on email etiquette, such as a piece of paper with your address on it and 1,2,3... I definitely agree with you that a student should not think he is on familiar enough terms with you to be calling you by your 1st name.

Hang in there Nicole! Think of it like this.. there are a ton of people just trying to get approval who would love to be in your shoes! I know it stinks, though! :glare: -
Does it make you CRAZY??
Southern Missy replied to Southern Missy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I decided to go with Dr. Touliatos. I really liked that he doesn't have a set timing for fills, he is pretty conservative on the postop diet, and he is in a good part of town. One of the other physicians that I was considering I liked at least as well but his location was YUCK. -
Thanks B. Brown.... I love the well wishes!!

**NOTE** Turning off not getting my hopes up -- Thanks B.Bee!! I'm beside myself especially since I haven't told anyone but my LBT family! I didn't want to tell the ones in my life who know and then have to go back and untell.. Thank you for sharing in my UTTER EXCITEMENT!! (Be there to catch me on Friday if it falls through, too!) **Okay, turning it back on and going back to not getting my hopes up... (teehee)

Does it make you CRAZY??
Southern Missy replied to Southern Missy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks Diane, I am trying real hard not to get overly excited until I get the final word but it's really hard to do especially when she told me to start the preop diet and I really don't think she would do that if she wasn't feeling confident about it. Where in Alabama are you? You may have said in another post but I can't remember! I'm in Prattville. Thanks for sharing in my EXCITEMENT!! -
ins. won't cover what now??
Southern Missy replied to sandi1972's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sandi, If you notice underneath my screen name, it says "finally it's all about me". There's a reason for that. I am a mother of 4 and a wife. I give, give, give all I have and then I usually dig deep and give some more. This surgery is for me. However, isn't it for them too? Without it, I might not be around as long as we have "planned" and, in that case, can you afford not to do it? Ultimately, the choice is yours but I know this is the right choice for me... and for them. :tongue_smilie: Good luck to you! -
Another really, really good bra to look for is a Jeunique. This is a bra that is not really for "nursing" persay but can be used that way. They have designed it so that the cup lets down just like a nursing bra so that the breasts can be positioned perfectly and this works out "perfectly" for nursing mothers. Plus, the real kicker is that there are no underwires but it provides the BEST support in any bra I have ever worn. Take it from me, a JJ girl (yeah, you read it right), I would know about good support! :tongue_smilie: I found some really great prices for these on Ebay. If you buy them from a store, they cost upwards of $88. I got the last one from Ebay at only $35.

Does it make you CRAZY??
Southern Missy replied to Southern Missy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, I went for my 1st consult visit with the surgeon today and everything went well. Thanks to my extensive LBT history, he ended up answering a few questions that he said he had never been asked before! I showed up with an envelope full of history for the insurance coordinator... at least 5 years worth, a letter from my old PCP, a letter from my GYN, a letter from a plastic surgeon I had consulted in the past, and just about every test/visit I have had in my lifetime (that I could get my hands on) related to my weight. You know what she said??? I think this will do it. What? I'm sorry, I didn't hear you correctly... could you repeat that? Yep, she said it: I THINK this will do it.   WHEN, WHEN, WHEN THEN?? She said all I had to do was attend the nutrition class, the next one being Wednesday AND to start my preop diet that same day. Following the class, that afternoon, she would send it in to BCBS. So, she said I should know something, at the lastest, by FRIDAY!! DH and I left the office in shock. He looks at me and says, "I thought this was supposed to be a lot harder than that?" I said, yeah, me too. So, even though, I know it's pretty obvious that I'm not doing a good job of trying not to get my hopes up, it's pretty hard to think that it's not and that I am on my way to being a MAY FLOWER!!! :frown::sad::sad::tongue_smilie: So maybe being crazy (at least for a little while) has paid off! I sure hope so.... hopefully Friday I will have "the rest of the story" -
I've messed up big time, will I still have surgery
Southern Missy replied to yvonneb3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yvonne, I personally have never been weighed prior to being taken back for surgery. However, you could always start a liquid diet between now and surgery and probably drop the 10 you have gained.. Just a thought! Good luck to you! -
Hi, fellow thirty-somethings =)
Southern Missy replied to 80s_chick's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi 30s... I am a mother of 4 in Alabama. Going for my 1st surgeon visit tomorrow and very excited! I am taking all my records so far and hope that BCBS cooperates! I'm looking forward to getting to know you all better! -
...this whole process of jumping through the hoops?!? I go to bed thinking about it, I wake up thinking about it. During the day, I am trying to think of all the things I might need so that they will approve me. I am so consumed by it that sometimes I don't even call friends like I used to! I go for my initial surgeon consultation on Monday so I am hoping I will get some insight as to "when" I might foresee this happening. I am still holding out hope, too, that I will be a MAY FLOWER!!

I hate it when people post just to post.....
Southern Missy replied to TerriDoodle's topic in The Lounge
LOVE IT!! I am always finding ways to embarrass/annoy my 2 oldest -- This is priceless!! You made me LOL. -
The only problem I've known it to cause is **kidney stones**. When I was pregnant with my 1st child, I had a serious Cereal addiction. DH used to laugh at me because when we first got married I would only allow 1 box of cereal in the house at a time and we had to finish it before I would open another box (yeah, I was a control freak back then, too). Anyway, after I got pregnant, I craved all kinds of cereal and had about 4 or 5 boxes going at one time. I would eat 2 or 3 bowls of cereal a day. About 4 months after the birth of my DD I had serious, horrible pain and had to call the on-call physician. I was thinking it could possibly be a UTI but turns out, I had a kidney stone. On analysis of the stone, they said it was a Calcium stone which translated into drinking too much milk. Other than that, I don't know of any other problems it would cause. Milk in Alabama is about $4 at Wal-Mart and $3.50 at food World -- And Wal-Mart is supposed to be the savings place! LOL Here's a fact, though, that DH loves to remind me of (he saw it on one of his food shows or something): Milk has a large content of pus in it from milking of the cows. EWWW!! And I love milk! I just try not to think about it.

OK...umm..so NO sandwhich for me!!!
Southern Missy replied to destynee990's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
destynee, It is my understanding that the slime is something our body naturally produces when it's going through the whole digestive process and, in this case, to try to help get the food to pass through. However, because your stoma is so small, it just wasn't going through so it all, slime included, came back up. Hope this helps!
