  1. Congrats!!! I also started my weight lost journey in January and am a week and a day post op, 55 lbs down since my highest weight of 445. I got to the 300s and I haven't seen that number in almost a year. It's a small goal but I am so happy with it. It just makes me know this surgery wasn't for nothing. Good luck!!! 2. I am a week post op today!! I'm down 14 lbs since surgery and 55 lbs total. I had my post appointment yesterday and got cleared for stage two diet. YUMMY APPLESAUCE. haha. Anyways my doctor wants me to take a stool softener but I wanted to see when everyone else had their first poop after surgery. I don't feel bloated or blocked. Sorry for the TMI. 3. I was lucky enough to have finally gone last night before I took the stool softener. I still took it this morning just to try and regulate everything. And good luck @@Raynbolite I hope everything gets better for you!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. My doctor told me to stay away from soups with any Pasta. Or anything that is hard on the stomach(spicy). But I went and got a black bean and corn soup it has a kick. But it's great! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. I haven't felt hunger yet. But I'm only a week out. I started my baby food stage yesterday and I couldn't get a tablespoon down at each meal. I just feel better off with my Protein shakes rather than forcing it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. I'm really afraid that this will be the rest of my life now, I always had no issues popping and I never even thought about the effect the surgery would have on this part of my life. Haha. I think I would end up in the hospital because I could never give myself or let my family give me an enema. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Confused

Weigh your self once a week on the same day at the same time. You'll have better results if your not constantly stepping on the scale. Especially because your weight fluctuates every day. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. For the last part will you ever enjoy the foods you love, yes but I think part of this whole journey is learning that you eat to live, not live to eat. I mean I've never craved a pizza more in my life right now. But I know this is what I need to be doing right now. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. I was sleeved on 9/20 and I still feel it when the Water enters my stomach, and I normally burp too. But the best thing for the gas is to walk through it. I've been walking every hour for 10 minutes and I go back to lay down and the pain is gone. Also if drinking is that un comfortable try room temperature water and taking smaller sips. It might help. 12. It's funny I was hoping mine would change after surgery cause I couldn't even take any type of shake at all, i was hiding the flavor in Greek yogurt. I really can't wait to be able to have yogurt again. Ha. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. I was doing the same thing preop, doing shots of Protein just to get it down. Now post op it sucks, cause I can't drink a few sips too close together without gas pain. I've been putting the protein in my Jello, and just making some v8 juice with protein. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Liquid diet

I have surgery tomorrow too. My pre op diet caused me to get my period. Probably from some weight loss. I've also been getting some gas pains depending on what I have been eating. But my pre op diet isn't just liquid. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Psych. Eval.

From my understanding the psych evaluation is mainly to make sure that you understand the risks and life style changes involved with surgery, that you have a support system in place, and most importantly (in my opinion) your not using food as a coping mechanism for life issues. From people I have known to get the surgery will end up depressed because they no longer can cope with food. Also I'm pretty sure if you already see a therapist or psychiatrist who regulates your meds it won't be an issue. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. I just called my insurance company (UHC choice plus) and found out I have been approved for the surgery. I also got my pre op testing done today, blood work and chest X-ray. I'm so excited. Only 6 days left. !! Anyone else surgery date on the 20th? Also it took UHC eleven days to approve my claim incase anyone was wondering. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Who did you tell?

I would definitely tell your boss about the surgery and explain you'll need some time off for the recovery and not only that but the preop appt. I let my boss know first and she was super understanding and excited for me, and very professional about the whole thing. There were a few people taking vacation time this summer and all she requested was I don't schedule any appts for those days. I also made all of my appts in advance so I could either schedule multiple appts for one day or tried to make them as early or late as possible to minimize how much time I was missing. Good luck! 21. I've been doing weight training with a personal trainer pre op for about three months now. My surgery is scheduled for September 20th. I haven't lost much weight. But I feel healthier, The swelling in my ankles is better and my shortness of breath has gotten better. I think it's been worth it. My sessions are only $35 and I do an hour once a week.
