This post makes me feel better. I don't know if my mood stabilizer isn't working or if it's hormones or if it's low carbs, but the grouchies feel like they're always about to get the best of me. Phew. It's normal! Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

I had one three days after by pass. Sorry to say it has been worse than by pass recovery. On the other hand, I'm almost three weeks out and other than an occasional burning sensation at incision site. I'm ok. So it won't be long after surgery and it'll be behind you! How long did you stay out of work
limase63 replied to TanishaP's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't have a physically taxing job, so while I had a hernia operation three days after my rny, I was back to work two weeks after my surgery. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App -
Hi all - I am two weeks out from surgery. I felt great after surgery for a couple of days until I developed a hernia from pushing my 70 pound lab off my lap! Regardless, I have absolutely no sense of fullness. Not even any of the "subtle" ones. I have experimented with some mushy foods (chicken, carrots) and those didn't make me feel full despite eating half a cup of them. Also nothing I've eaten makes me sick - although I haven't had too wide a variety. I am super scared I will have to rely solely on my "willpower" to continue losing weight after the first few weeks. I have lost all the Fluid weight I gained in both surgeries (bypass and hernia) and 10 more. If I don't have any full sensation and no dumping syndrome, I'm not sure this will end up working very well for me. Has anyone else had this? Did it resolve? I am very worried about this! Try the unjury unflavored Protein. It is flavorless as far as I can tell. It even mixes well in crystal light so I've been putting in that to get my Fluid and protein. Also check w your dr in case you do have a stricture. Good luck. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

Weight gain one month post op on 700 calories
limase63 replied to Amurillo04's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also wonder if it was worth it on a daily basis. Hopefully things turn around soon for both of us. I have read that the lower your surgery weight the slower the loss after. I hope you get past the stall and get to your goal weight with ease! Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App -
I am having same issues. I am also 18 days out. (Had surgery on August 30th). I have been scared I'm "eating too much" at 700 ish calories a day. I think it's all just part of the process?!? I hope so, bc if not, I'm seriously questioning why I did this to myself. I read that the weight loss is more like stairs than a slope. That makes sense to me. I am 18 days out. I had same experience. I was disappointed and worried as heck bc NOT feeling full was never covered in any of the pre surgical classes, of which there were plenty! Today I felt it at lunch. Finally! I thought I stopped in time, but ended up throwing up right after eating. You'll get there after nerves heal. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

4 days post op and I'm worried
limase63 replied to rhaya sunshine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same here. Two weeks out. No issues w getting everything in - protein, yogurt, soup. Started feeling like surgeon messed up and made my pouch too big! Everyone says liquids go right through and that nerves are healing, so sense of fullness isn't there. I was (am) worried about drinking shakes too fast, so I decided to try to take 45 min to drink it and measure out everything else. I wish they covered these possibilities in pre surgery classes. Thanks. That sounds like me. N feeling hungry either. How was your weight loss during that time? Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

Weight Loss 3 weeks out
limase63 replied to AnnMarie23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sure you had some Fluid from surgery to lose first. I've also heard the heavier you are, the faster you lose weight. I've lost about 10 in addition to the 10 I had to lose of iv fluids. I am worried about the same thing though, especially bc I don't have any full sensation at all. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App -
Hi all. I literally just had surgery. Went in 4 1/2 hours ago. I'm up, walking around, doing that spirometer w no coughing. No problems. Knock wood! I imagine the diladid (sp) helps, but still in all...it's NOT a nightmare. I did lose 25 pounds this summer on my own and exercised a fair amount. I'm sure that also helps. Tmr I could be writhing in pain w complications galore, but for now I feel fine. Don't let the horror stories scare you. Make sure your surgeon and program is a Center of Excellence. Mine is. HW 279. SW 245. Goal weight ????? I honestly don't know. Good luck to all of you. If you're contemplating but scared, as NIKE says...just do it is my recommendation. Hello all, I just had my surgery Tuesday. Until yesterday when u got home, I felt relatively good. Since coming home, my belly has gotten rigid and sore, and I'm nauseated by everything. Is this normal for anyone? I'll call Dr in am, but I'm wondering what everyone else has experienced. Btw. I had laproscopic rny. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

Hi all, Did anyone else gain a lot of weight during their hospital stay. I know it's probably Fluid from iv's but I gained 8 pounds. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

Moral of the story - listen to your body. I felt worse by the hour. Belly got more tender and rigid. Couldn't eat or drink. My friend who came to check on me tried to reach bariatric office or surgeon. No dice. So to the ER we went. A catscan later I was back in OR to fix a hernia. I feel much better again. I'm glad bc I was regretting this choice if that's how I was going to feel! Glad it's not. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

I'm a few days out of surgery and everything makes me sick to my stomach to even think about eating. Sounds like it'll go away. I hope so. I am counting on this for portion control help more than help making good choices. Nausea all day long is not any fun. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

Going for my sleeve surgery next week in Colombia next week!

Good advice. The anti nausea meds work great. Don't hesitate to ask for them. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App -
You will be fine post op then. Don't let the pain get ahead of you. I mean, I'm sure it's different for everyone, but since mine was done via laproscopic method it is really not that bad. Don't be scared! I was so scared for two days I almost called it off. Changing eating habits before surgery helps a lot too. Good luck to you. Lmk how it goes. I'm 24 hours out. My abdomen feels like they did when I was 18 and decided I was going to get in shape by starting with 150 sits ups all at once. That's it. Maybe up to a 4. Mostly 2-3. In fact, the situps probably hurt more. I kayaked a lot this summer and used a cheap rower from Walmart for a couple of weeks before surgery. Plus I amped up my Protein and cut down as much as possible on carbs and fats. Worked well for me. Good luck. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

If you can, get some exercise in between now and then that help your abdomen. Also increase Protein by as much as you can. I truly believe those things helped me. I kayaked a lot this summer and used a cheap rowing machine from Walmart. Also I used unjury Protein and pbfit and torani sugar free syrups. Good luck to you. I don't regret it at all, and I was terrified going in to it. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
