10 months out. Hit Goal and still want more.
gustavio posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I hit my goal last month and I decided I still wanna lose 10-20 more lbs. I started at 250. I am now 140. Everyone says I'll look bad if I lose any more weight. I still see a fat girl in the mirror. Is this just my past insecurities? Idk. Luckily my skin has bounced into place without skin surgery. At 38 years old, I consider myself a lucky duck. My doctor also says I shouldn't lose anymore because I may not be happy with the result and response from my skin. Advice anyone? Anyway, here are some before and after. -

Only piece I can offer is go back to the basics. Don't let yourself get lax with your diet. -

I stuck to the plan 100%. I kept carbs under 50g and ate mainly protein and veggies. Stayed away from drinks with any calories and sugar is and was a big no no. On holidays, I allowed myself to eat and enjoy the day. I didn't however allow myself sugar bc I didnt want to crave sugar and that is the hardest thing to kick when reintroduced from what I hear. I am ashamed to say that I have not exercised. I have a very hectic schedule. I have a desk job so I rarely get any exercise. Perhaps if I introduced exercise I could have lost a bit more. Thanks for all the compliments! They help with the confidence level. -

Also, sweet toothers. I buy the Russell stover sugar free pecan delights. They are chocolatey, caramely goodness with just a little crisp. (Like turtles). I limit myself to 2 of them but let me tell you, they are so good and you would never know they are sugar free. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

We are almost surgery date twinsies. I havnt tried a burger but I bet I could eat that much if I did. I am 6 months out and it seems I can eat quite a bit more the past month or so. Key is, stop when you feel the slightest resistance. I usually portion and measure but you can't really do that on the road. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I just broke down...

Once in a great while when I have an uncontrollable sweet tooth I eat sugar free russel stouffers turtles. They are delicious. You cannot tell the are sugar free at all. Again, it's only every once in a while because they have a few carbs. But they take away the sweet tooth! Also, HALO protein icecream is a life saver! They have like 17 flavors. I suggest everyone try the birthday cake one and the s'mores one. Oh and mint chocolate chip is to die for also! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

When I'm feeling unsuccessful or discouraged during a stall I ALWAYS refer back to this chart. This is average weightloss per time period and for your weight. Often, people compare their success with the success of someone 100 lbs heavier than them and feel like they are failing! It's going to different for all Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

This chart is specific to sleeve patients I've heard the same in regards to bypass and sleeve patients. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I was very hesitant. I was NOT excited when I was approved and NOT excited when I got my surgery date. I am a worry wart and was convinced it wasn't the right thing to do. After much thought and research I felt it was my only option. I had to save my life for the sake of my children. I have never looked back. I have never regretted it not even for a split second. I feel so very blessed to have been able to do this. Nothing good ever just happens to me. I am a pessimist by nature. aside from my husband and children, this is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Nobody can say "do it" and you listen. You have to find that within. At your starting weight, it is going to be difficult to get to a healthy weight. Why not use a tool given to us by these brilliant surgeons. If you still have reservations, talk to your doc about his experience and success stories. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I wish you luck. I think that we all think we are smaller than we are. Until we get small and then we think we are bigger than we are! Ha ha. I told my family I still think of myself as fat and would like to lose another 25-30 lbs. in unison all said "FROM WHERE!?" My defining moment was when my husband accidentally snapped a pic of my backside (pre surgery) at my daughters bday party. I didn't believe it was me but knew that it was because of the clothing. (You can see said photo in a few of my posts). I was absolutely DISGUSTED with myself. I knew something had to change. I can't wait to follow your journey. I returned to my desk job a week post op. Wished I had taken longer. I was very weak and tired. Pain wasn't the issue any longer but exhaustion from having little to no nutrition, was brutal. I got through it but it was rough. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Weight Loss Rate/Patterns

BUT were you able to keep it off after weightwatchers?? This is a life time tool and if you treat it right, will regulate you for the rest of your life. Throw that damn scale out. When you aren't losing pounds, you are losing inches. Trust that Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
