I'm with the Toronto Western hospital Had my surgery appointment (they didn't have dates to give out that day). So just preparing myself for post. My nutrition class was so long ago, and I'm refreshing going though the book, and preparing my self to buy vitamins, was at Wal-mart yesterday and I'm actually having trouble finding what they are asking for in that book. The calcium i found 1 chewable candy (not sure if thats gonna be okay post op) but i cant find a "decent: Vitamin/Mineral with 1000 daily and iron/copper requirement What did everyone else use? 1. Vitamin/mineral with 1000 daily recommended intake and 18mg iron and 1mg coper Take 2 tablets/ chew-able 2. Calcium 500mg – 600mg 1tablet or chewable

Hey guys, I'm super early in the entire process (just saw my Dr. last week for a referral), but I'm curious about some realistic waiting periods I'm getting referred to one of the Toronto Clinics so now I'm not-so-patiently waiting to hear from them. Can anyone share some info as to how long their process took from here on out until actual surgery? I'm wanting the sleeve. I was quoted $13,000 to pay out of pocket in Montreal I'm wondering if its better to go the Pay route. Thanks!

Gastric bypass- Toronto Ontario - they wont do a sleeve?
stefanie0804 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm a little confused, I went to my family doctor recently to talk about gastric sleeve. She agreed that she liked the research i had put in to it and refereed me to the Ontario Baratric network. After some ups and downs i finally got an orientation date Nov 30th. I got my info package in the mail today and it says "thank you for contacting us about gastric bypass sugrey" Someone else on this website said they just dont do sleeves in Toronto. Now i really much rather not have to pay for sleeve operation, but all my research has been there. for some reason bypass scares me even more then a sleeve. has anyone else gone though this? has anyone convinced them to do a sleeve anyways? Kinda sad and confused... -

I love carbs, i could just sit and eat chips or a french stick (dont even need the butter)... I do enjoy sweets too...so maybe this will be more likely to help! back to the research board i guess! -

Diet after Sleeve (fear of my own sabotage)
stefanie0804 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As I'm sure many of you have all done before being sleeved i've watched every video, read every forum and talked to as many people as possible. I finally have an orientation day Nov 30th, 2016 though the Ontario Netwrok which means i will hopefully be approved and not have to pay, along with having a support network. Anyways I ask about diet because i was watching a you-tuber last night and she was talking about how she fell off the wagon, and has gotten back on using weight watchers. Now I know that the sleeve isn't any miracle, but I've failed at weight watchers, Dr. Bernstein, low carb and may diets before. I'm trying to change my eating habits, but i still make wrong choices, and sometimes I feel so hungry I binge. Tell me how i wont sabotage this? -
Diet after Sleeve (fear of my own sabotage)

. I can tell you that I was completely on board and committed to every attempt to loose weight before. But I got HUNGRY. How is the sleeve different? I am not inappropriately hungry anymore and loosing the fat so because body fat is hormonally active I will not have all of that influencing my choices. One last thought. If I am not successful I am going to go down fighting. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Agree 100%. I have tried every diet in the book. I failed every time, the best I ever did was losing 40 pounds on Weight Watchers, but I didn't reach my goal, quit, and gained it all back and more. @@stefanie0804 when you have dieted in the past were you hungry? I wasn't a fat kid but I was always a big eater, I could never miss a meal, and it took way too much to fill me up. I can't wait to have my sleeve, I can't wait to feel satisfied with a small to normal amount of food. Yes I've always been hungry, and i find that i look for comfort foods, i dont feel "full" for example till ived had a carb a salad needed somthing more then just salad to make me feel full... maybe because i grew up in an Italian family u ate everything on ur plate and it was all carbs! -

You need to learn more at orientation. It's not a diet - both surgeries require a lifestyle change. You can fail or succeed at either. If it were the same as any other diet - insurance wouldn't be paying thousands to have it done. That's a joke, my insurance paid nothing for my sleeve. I paid out of pocket. Almost 12k. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App eek! Mine would be paid for though this program, although someone else on here just informed me they often dont do Sleeves but RYN....which im unsure about. Ill continue my research! -

They talk about the sleeve on the website, i wonder why they dont do it. Whats the differences?they do it if you need to take NSAIDs or any other reasons, if they go to do an rny and that cannot be performed they wil do a sleeve. in Ontario the gold standard (that's what they say lol) is RNY Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App thats kind of alarming, i guess i learn more at the orientation. all my research has been on the sleeve.
