Mindi and nana I am doing well. Its been 4 months...down 70 pounds. For 98% of the time i am so happy that i did this. For the other 2% of the time i have moments when I just want to eat or drink normally again. I dont worry about anything right now except getting my head right. I get all my Protein in...even if i have to eat tuna 5 days a week. I take my Vitamins and drink 80 oz of Water every day. I walk 3-5 days a week. I want to ramp up my exercise but it is difficult with kids and work. So overall its just my life now. I dont worry about going out to eat or the holidays. I just stick to my plan and keep working on the mental piece as i have a lot to learn about myself!

Mindi, patty and pammy....sounds like you are all doing great!! Keep it up!

Okay...so we all know that our mind is the real beast to tame during this process. I find myself essentially eating the same foods week after week. I do this because right now i am focusing on my mental changes and i can cook new things at any time. I figure we have a"honeymoon period" for a reasona nd I am using it to my fullest capacity. My clothes are getting to big and i had to cut my hair off because it is falling out! I just took a new side by side because i dont see anything when i look in the mirror and that is totally discouraging! Some days i am frustrated that i can only eat 1/2 cup of food and some days i dont care if i eat at all. I have been riding this rollercoaster for more than 30 years and i continue to ride now. I want you all to know that you can do this...you are strong enough...you are worth it! As i say goodbye to 70 pounds at the 4.5 month mark....i say.... Here is to 2017...lets make it great!!!

Pammy and nana you can and will do this. These few weeks from before surgery to about week 4 post op are the hardest. U will battle head hunger but embrace those moments and learn what your triggers are. U will both do great and remember if you need anything just ask!

Welcome Pam! My name is jessica. Had surgery on 8/15/16 with dr. Cahalan in Des Moines. I am so excited for those of you having surgery soon. It is a crazy, difficult journey but at almost 4 months out I can honestly say I would do it again in a minute and wish I would have done it when I was 20 instead of 42. Cheers to your journeys!!!

I food prep for the week but since surgery i am Finding that I make too much for my family and often have to throw food out. Part of the problem is we are not always eating the same thing so I still cook as though I am feeding 5 people in stead of 4. Anyone else find this an issue? And if so were you able to eventually stop over preparing as tome went on? How many you vets still food prep???

Does anyone regret having surgery?

I had the same problem for a while. My surgeon put me on some liquid medicine called Carafate. It is actually used for ulcers....but for me it was a game changer when it came to nausea (i was taking 2 different meds plus an antispasmodic med). Something to discuss with your physician if you want. Are you taking an acid reducer like omeprazole? -
Welcome Mrs Ross!!! We will all be cheering you on as the process continues. Put your mind at ease...i cant imagine why they wouldnt see you. We are all in this together!

Wishing u speedy approval and surgery date!!!

I didnt eat anything that I normally dont eat so my stomach tolerated fine. I have been very strict with no snacking/grazing until today. I was just mindlessly putting food into my mouth...like extra shrimp while making supper...taking a bite out of my youngest Breakfast this am....so stressful sometimes to worry about every bite that goes in...what your going to eat...when u can eat...when you can drink. Its just a lot of work sometimes.

I just have to put this out in the world...I HATE HEAD HUNGER!!!! Today i had it all day...grazed on things that are on plan but still ate little bites between meals....UGH! I am sure it will be fine but is frustrating anyway. Guess i am gonna just try to be better tomorrow. In the last 3 months this has been the hardest day yet. I hope everyone else is doing good...i wouldnt wish this on my worst enemy ????????????????

Oh mindi that is brutal!!! Mine was like luckygrls...only 2 days of liquids. Stock up on all your favorites and steel yourself against the head hunger. I wont lie it will be rough but worth it. One thing that helpes me post op was I made a list of all the things I could do onstead of eat and picked one everytime i was dealing with head hunger. This way u dont habe to think ul something....just pick from the list. Good luck and we are here if you need encouragement!!!Lord i wish there was spell check...looks like my 7 year old wrote this mess!!
