  1. Hey ladycrank. I totally understand your situation, as I was absolutely unable to fit into a CT Scan machine early last year when I had a blood clot in my leg, I was pretty bummed out about it. Fast forward a year and a half later and I've worked to lose 120 pounds and finally last week when I went in for the Pre-Op Upper GI scan, I was able to fit into the CT Scan machine just fine. I couldn't dance in it but the doctor said all the pictures came out great. I truly feel blessed. Good luck to you, I know we can all do this! Don't look back, turn the page, and let your next chapter begin! Thank you, I look forward to the day when I can fit in the machines with no problem. My Dr's office submitted to my insurance the end of last week so hoping to get a call soon Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

    Constipation

liquid magnesium citrate should get things moving, to me dulcolax would be too rough but that's just my thought. I would call your surgeon and see what they suggest. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  5. I just went through the almost not fitting into the machine yesterday for my Upper GI. The nurse was really sweet and tried not to make me feel bad. It was very very snug . When the Dr. came in the nurse was explaining to him that some of the lower pics would be fuzzy because the machine was up against me. The dr. gave that look that I have all to often seen....instead of apologizing like I normally do I told him..."I have to have the test so I can have the surgery that will help me fit in the machine to have the test!" with that he started laughing and assured me we would make it work. I told my sister as we were on our way home, I for the first time didn't let it mess with my emotions, I know I am heavy but I also know that I am on the road to changing that. I cannot wait till I see the surgeon again and can get my surgery date!!!!
  6. Reading all your stories is very inspirational. I am in the middle of getting my Pre Reqs out of the way right now, I had my Upper GI yesterday, have a Phych consult on the 20th , then meet with the surgeon again on OCT 4th. I am 424 lbs and my highest weight was 460 . I am currently working on losing more weight and am starting to replace meals with the protein shakes. I cannot wait till I have success stories like all of you here!!!
  7. I have started a list of things I want to do/ will be able to do after losing weight and feeling better...I never thought of carrying it with me for when I need a lift...I will b doing that now. I am still getting my pre reqs done and meet with the surgeon again on OCT 4th. Thank you for sharing your journey!! Cant wait to see how well this works for you!!!

    Who to tell?

I am going my Upper GI tomorrow and have the follow up apt with the surgeon on Oct 4th. Hopefully insurance will approve quickly. This time around ( I have considered WLS twice before ) I have practically shouted it from the rooftops. The prior times I was embarrassed and really worried about what others would say. This time around I really don't care what others have to say ( don't get me wrong my support group , Husband, Children (sister who is doing this with me) and close friends of course matter ) but I am completely at peace with having the surgery as it is a tool to help me achieve what I cant achieve on my own. I am 36yrs old 424 lbs. my highest weight was 460 lbs. and have been heavy by normal standards for 22 years I personally feel when I hit 200 that is when I became heavy and that was 18 years ago. I have tried every diet know to man and it never lasts. So I am for the first time embracing this decision and looking forward to the new quality of life that comes with it. I think for me not being embarrassed and not worrying about what others think about it was a huge step for me personally. I have friends who have had it though and where more private about it, I honestly think it is what you are comfortable with. I cant wait to see your outcome!!! Good Luck!!!
  10. I totally agree with you. It has taken me 15 years to decide my mind was ready to take this step. I've spent the last two years getting my mind ready in preparation for this lifestyle change. This surgery is a tool and as long as we use it wisely we should do great!! I can't wait to hear your success stories! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
