BariatricPal Policy Reminders – Everyone Please Read!
simpsongrad replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Rants & Raves
I think it is bullshit that when people ask to have their accounts deleted, you don't do it. This site is worthless and I have asked numerous times to have mine removed, this one and another one that I accidentally set up with my facebook log in and can't even get a response. If I swear enough in this response, would you please do as I ask? Who in the hell do you think you are to not allow people to get off this site? Trust me, you are not helping yourself and it is just false advertising. We should all get together and create a class action lawsuit against your ass!! There was never anything written about not being to delete an account when you sign up. Absolute crap to run a site like this. Hope you are proud of yourself. Trust me when I say I won't have anything nice to say about it, ever. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Weight loss frustrations
simpsongrad replied to __chasinglife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is so interesting to hear everyone's journey. I was sleeved on October 25th and have been feeling the same way. I have lost 32 pounds since surgery but also feel like I am starting my second stall and it has upset me. I work out a lot and feel for all the work I am putting in, I should be doing so much better. We will get through this! My husband keeps reminding me that this is a journey and not a race. And we certainly didn't gain our weight overnight so we won't lose that quickly either. I am hoping I can practice what I am preaching right now because it is hard!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Question for lifters: How are you increasing your caloric intake?
simpsongrad replied to BigViffer's topic in The Guys’ Room
I just bought the gold standard Protein powder myself. it is the regular type not for muscle building per se. i am only a few months out but train really hard doing cross fit and then coming home to jump on my elliptical for another 40 minutes every morning. I feel like I am not losing as fast as i should be and i think part of it is because I am working out so hard and not being able to fuel my workouts appropriately. Will be interested to see what other say. Good Luck! -

Vacation planning after surgery
simpsongrad posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So - maybe this is a dumb question but would like some feedback. My husband and I have a trip planned for next month to Kauai for 10 days. It is the first time I will have an extensive trip since my surgery and I am worried about eating away from home for so long. I am looking into packing some Protein bars and some Protein Drink powders. Thought? How have you guys found a good balance when traveling post op? -

When did you guys go back to work?
simpsongrad replied to cnewbodyreno's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Seriously. I was sleeved on a Tuesday, released from hospital on the Thursday, worked from home on Friday and back at the office on Monday. Granted I have a desk job but I was perfectly fine. I am in and out of meetings all day and thought this was a good way to keep my mind occupied. I didn't take any pain meds or nausea once I left the hospital and didn't need them. Awful Taste in Mouth/Bad Breath
simpsongrad replied to Laughkc11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had that too (bad breath and white film). So gross! I actually brushed my mouth with peppermint essential oil and toothpaste. I did this several times and it helped a lot even though it did burn at the time! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
2-6 Months Post Op.. How do you get your protein in?
simpsongrad replied to cuteNATL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a firm believer in fairlife milk. I drink skim but one glass has 13 grams of protein. My surgeon doesn't believe in shakes and this milk has been my life saver on protein. I will even mix in no sugar added instant breakfast packet if I need more protein at the end of the day. My plan calls for 59-98 gram per day. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

simpsongrad replied to PhillyAj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you have peppermint essential oils or peppermint extract? Even smelling peppermint will help with nausea. I had terrible nausea and that got me through. Good luck and hope it gets better soon. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Hit my first milestone in weight loss journey today!
simpsongrad posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I set certain milestones that I wanted to hit for the next year. Some were pretty aggressive but proud to announce I hit my first one a week and 2 days faster than planned. I am down 27 pounds from my surgery weight and 52 pounds overall today. More impressive is that I hit it while making Christmas goodies all day yesterday and didn't cheat once! Holiday baking is one of the few Christmas traditions that I keep alive for my mom's memory. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I had my surgery on a Tuesday, was in the hospital for two days, worked from home that Friday and was back at work that Monday. Had no issues either. I am a project manager so have meetings all day but basically a desk job. The first two days were bad due to nausea (which is why I had an extra day in the hospital) but once I realized it was the pain meds, I stopped taking them and didn't have any other issues. Getting more nervous everyday
simpsongrad replied to simpsongrad's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@teedsg Thanks so much for thinking of me! Yes - I am doing very well. I have lost over 25 pounds and almost 2 sizes since surgery and have had no trouble getting my fluids and Protein in. I feel like this was the best decision I have ever made for myself too. Hard to believe tomorrow will be six weeks since the big day too. How about you? -
How do you deal with the emotional/food triggers?
simpsongrad replied to The New Kel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good question and it is hard! I, too, find myself looking for ways to divert from past triggers and since i love to cook and bake, it is especially hard. My mom was a wonderful cook/baker and making the things she used to make, like christmas candy and Cookies, makes me want to do that as well. Mom has been gone for five years this December 31st so I always associate this time with her. I wish I had the answers on how to combat it but I don't. Just know you are not alone feeling the way you do. I am right there with you. -
So I know there are a hundreds of posts on stalls. I am curious to know what variables do people use to determine if they are in fact in a stall. According to the definition of a stall: stop or cause to stop making progress. "his career had stalled, hers taken off" synonyms: obstruct, impede, interfere with, hinder, hamper, block, interrupt, hold up, hold back, thwart, balk, sabotage, delay, stonewall, check, stop, halt, derail, put a brake on; informalstymie "the government has stalled the project" stop, fizzle, flatline, die, reach an impasse, hit a roadblock "the project has stalled" I would say the time frame is the key. I know from past experience, that I typically will lose 4-6 pounds then stay steady for a few weeks and then drop again. As I shrink in size, the length of time between drops expands as it takes longer for my body to adjust to the new weight. It seems like on here, if someone doesn't drop weight per day or per week, they think stall. I am just not certain that would qualify as an actual "stall" but I know that is up for interpretation. What do you all think?
