I haven't been able to eat more than 2 or 3 bites of food. I'm almost 6 months out and have lost 71 lbs. I'm just concerned about why it's like this. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G925A using the BariatricPal App

I would definitely talk to your surgeon if you're almost 6 months out. Perhaps he/she will have you do a barium swallow or endoscopy to make sure your anatomy is ok. Nah I don't think it's tht severe of an issue, but thanks! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G925A using the BariatricPal App

Three and a half months out..61 lbs gone!
shelleys goal posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Hey peeps! I'm 3.5 months out and I've lost 61 pounds! What I was wondering is how many carbs should I have per day. Also I've been shooting for 60-80 grams of Protein a day but it's very difficult. I emailed my dietician these same questions but I wanted to ask you guys. Also, I lost weight quicker when I avoided carbs altogether but my PCP said I was malnourished and to eat some carbs. Thanks for any advice!! -

Can't get my protein in..
shelleys goal replied to nannare's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really like low fat buttermilk. 2 cups has exactly the same amount as most of the Protein shakes..Do almonds and low fat string cheese or deli sliced turkey. YOU CAN DO IT!!! -
I had my bypass surgery July 13. Ive already lost 47 lbs!! I am following the plan super faithfully. So I bought a cool cookbook for post-wls people. The author has a great first chapter that really summarizes well what to expect, how it all works, etc. She has been a bariatric dietician for years. She mentions the "honeymoon" period in her book stating that it lasts anywhere from 8 months to 2-3 years. She also states that one lady she knew has never stopped her honeymoon phase and she's in year 5. My question is "Is the honeymoon phase truly something to be concerned with if you're following the plan and losing weight like you're supposed to?"

Cheated on Pre Op Diet
shelleys goal replied to mrstkgreene's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OP- you are not the only one who has cheated and so while not trying to beat you up- you rightfully should be concerned that you may not ready. This isn't to say that perfection is required but it is to say that there are countless people who have this surgery without being equipped with the tools to handle challenges. If a week or two pre-op diet can't be adhered to, what about a lifelong requirement to measure your food, eat Protein first, etc. You may or may not be ready but if you have doubts, then please resolve them before doing something irreversible.Well the thing is, now I am starving. After surgery it will be different. Also, after surgery I was told to have a "treat" every few weeks. For instance, Pasta, etc. things will be different after surgery than they are now. Right now I have a huge stomach and I am use to eating a lot.Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Sigh. They just reduce the size of your stomach. It doesn't reduce your desire to eat crap still. It isn't magic. You still have to actually use a little will power to make it work. You have to exercise and change the way you eat forever. Not just eat, but change the way you even FEEL about eating in general. Yes, there will be times you're even hungry. If you use food comfort now and can't delay gratification, will you have the tools to deal with that post op? Please take all that into consideration and don't just assume surgery will magically change all your bad habits with food. People figure out ways to eat around these surgeries. Otherwise we wouldn't have a 42% rate of regain. As long as you completely understand that, you'll be fine. Okay. I am aware of what the surgery does, as I have been planning this surgery for a year. I will do what is right for me. I am willing to change and I want to change.... but I mean, you can't just stop wanting something because the doctor says so. If you were addicted to drugs and were told to just stop, could you? No.... it takes time, it takes support and I'm aware of this... but your "sighing" and pretty much telling me that since I cheated and ate chicken fingers and fries for dinner one night that I am not mentally capable of having a surgery is not why I am here. I am here for support. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I had a huge burger 4 days before surgery and a steak 2 days before it. You're exactly right that the surgery will help..you will finally feel full!! Don't listen to these naysayers. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G925A using the BariatricPal App -

Has anyone experienced an increase in urination? I am a 5th grade teacher and I have a history of overactive bladder but really had it under control before surgery. (without meds) But since surgery I've had to go so much but mainly it's the sense of urgency. I can't keep leaving students alone for this.

shelleys goal replied to jenrae1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I watched a YouTube video by a surgeon at a new Jersey clinic give post surgery eating advice..he said caffeine and coffee are fine bc coffee isn't carbonated. He did say to limit coffee intake.
