    Food Logs

I love both MFP and Baritastic. Baritastic has a ton of features, and doesn't make you pay to see what macros you've eaten like MFP app. That said, I use MFP still bc it has a bigger food library. Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

    Problems with SF drinks

Have you tried just soaking fruit in your Water? With a piece of fresh ginger for nausea? Like a gallon pitcher, filled with water, then chilled with sliced strawberries and oranges and a 2in piece of peeled fresh ginger sliced? Ginger is a natural nausea remedy, and maybe you need flavor without the sugary taste. Hint Water also has this taste Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App
  3. Off topic, but they bring you that glass of water to show that you are being taken care of and served. I understand it may be irritating, but in a restaurant with a great staff, you'd probably get asked 45 times by 45 people (exaggeration) before your meal came if you had been served and if you would like anything. It also keeps your server from getting their rear chewed out for letting a guest sit for a long time unserved. It's a silent marker in the industry. Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

    Employer

I would tell your boss immediately. There should be no issues. Tell them what you want- the truth, hernia, gallbladder, lobotomy, whatever... but tell them. Also, if you're worried about issues, that tells me that you may have the type of employer that has a high turn over rate. Hand them a doctor's note with your surgery date ASAP. closer to surgery, hand them the time off excuse with your physical limitations. If you sit at a desk all day, it doesn't matter... make sure they write your lifting restrictions and that you must consume liquids constantly (if you aren't allowed that sort of thing). I was a restaurant manager and restaurants love to nitpick. Even the most awesome coworkers and bosses. Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App
  6. I have a high anxiety, nut allergic son, and a diva of a toddler. Nobody gets them like I do. I stay at home. I homeschool. I am NEVER first. Period. So it's like this: I can keep going knowing that no matter how much I lose, I will never keep it off, and it will eventually kill me and leave these kids without the one person that gets them, the one person that knows their quirks inside and out, the one unconditional love person they'll ever have... or I can be selfish for what amounts to a very small moment in time and have surgery. They will be okay eating junk for a few weeks. They will be okay if we miss a homeschool event, or boy scouts. Putting off a couple of doctors appointments won't screw everything up. My husband will survive picking up the slack that I would normally take as my burden. He will survive eating frozen pizza. Everyone might have an issue here and there, but they will all survive. Better they learn this way than after having to bury you, or worse, have you become their permanent burden. You'll be of no use to anybody then. Taking care of yourself isn't selfish. I KNOW it feels that way when there are Halloween costumes to be bought, doctor's appointments for the little, and dinner to be made... but you can't do those things if you aren't here. 7. This is something to discuss with your surgeon and pcp. If your pain is chronic enough to be prescribed Celebrex, I'm sure your doctors will help you to manage it with a safe medication if Celebrex isn't okay. You're going to get 50 different answers from 50 different patients/cases and their surgeons here. Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

    Caffeine

My NUT said it was a temporary measure to help combat dehydration post op. She said once we can get in at least 64oz of decaf fluids, that 65th Oz on can be coffee or any other sugar free, non carbonated, caffienated drink. It takes most people a while to be able to get all their fluids in. They have us quit it Pre-op as not to do too many things to the body at once (imagine smoking and drinking caffiene up until surgery, and when you come out on the other side in pain, mentally hungry, exhausted, hormone dumping, etc... and with withdrawals from nicotine and caffiene. It wouldn't be cute.) Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App
  9. I feel like this is me! Between old meal prep habits from when I was losing "naturally," being a mom, and having a son with food allergies... I'll be snack packed to the max post op ???? Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App
  10. The psych eval was easy breezy. She asked questions that would show signs of eating disorders, asked about stress and my home life, made sure I had enough intelligence to understand the decision I was making, and asked about my psych history. I was extremely worried about the last part as I had/have PTSD, a string of psych misdiagnoses to go with it, and anxiety. I passed, bc I don't have any active/uncontrolled issues that would impair my judgement. Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

    Hernia?

I have a hernia and my doctor was very nonchalant about it. He said it was no big and would repair it during surgery. Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

    Beginner....

As a former everything in a restaurant up to manager person lol... I can only imagine the struggle. Your very first step needs to be explaining (with a doctor's note if necessary, my restaurant was super strict) that you are dealing with some medical issues that require you to snack small or drink a shake every 2-3 hours. You don't have to tell them what, it's not their business. They can't legally deny you bringing in and consuming your own snacks/beverages/whatever if you have a doctor's note. Buy a cute lunch box or cooler, stock it and bring it to work every day. You can live without your restaurant's food. We all get tired of it. It's just hard to avoid it when you get (possibly gourmet) food at a discount. If you have your own Snacks and prep, you'll make it so easy on yourself. Drink only Water. Grab a sip or cone cup of water every time you go to the kitchen or server area, keep a bottle with you if you're BOH. It can totally be done! Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

    Birth Control

On that note, both my obgyn and surgeon said my Depo shot was fine. I know. It's an icky form of BC for a lot of people, and I have gained weight. It may slow my weight loss... but I have two kids while on the pill with pcos. I'm fertile Myrtle, man. I can't go without it. Period. Anyway, hopefully next year I'll be getting my tubes tied. All I'm saying is that it may be worth it in the short term to look into it as birth control. Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App
  15. Yeahhhh mid October is a toss up. We are supposed to get a front, but it was like 80 for Christmas in Houston last year, so I wouldn't count on the cool down being permanent. That said, don't push yourself too much. You need to move, but you also need to heal. He sounds like he needs a reality check. Show him real videos of the procedure and show him potential complications. Make sure he understands how serious dehydration can be. Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App
