I crave ice cream, which my nutritionist said NO...but I am cheating. So I buy the slimmer bear klondike bars. They are small the chocolate melts down to nothing and they are 100 calories. chocolate and icecream are my downfalls but these let me have my fix without feeling like a bad horrible person. -

oh yeah and I only take my protein about 1/3 the times I am supposed too. Which is why I started eating egg and cheese early. I just couldn't force that protein down. -

Lets see. I was banded on Feb.27. 1. no preop diet (but no last meal either I at least didn't do that) 2. started eating runny mashed potatoes 5 days later very slowly 3. have not excercised yet- what I am most dissapointed about 4. had a cheese omelette two days ago. Not all at once but I am not supposed to have eggs for another week I think 5. put REAL sourcream in my mashed potatoes two days ago. And a lot of it. These might not sound dramatic but they feel dramatic for me. -

Pre-Op Depression???

also, now that I think about it. We are almost changing our identity. That is a scary and emotional thing to do too. -
Pre-Op Depression???
ReadySteadyGo replied to Jeen423's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did. I think, especially for people who have been large their whole life, that we have tried so long to love ourselves despite our weight and the way society treats "fat" people. We have struggled with showing people our worth despite our weight. Now, we have to accept that their is truely something wrong. Something emotional that attaches itself to the physical. I think that is a hard thing to do. Plus you are being forced to look at yourself as obese, morbidly obese, severely obese, super obese. Whatever the case I think that can be very depressing. We are also breaking off a dear friendship. We have celebrating, cried, intoxicated ourselves with food. At least for me, food has been one of my most loyal friends, and it's like it's moving across the country. Your relationship with food will never be the same. I think depression is normal, in fact I think every emotion you have pre surgery and post surgery is its on "normal". Just express everything to your doctor. -
I had my lap band done by Dr. Merriman on feb.27th. I was self pay. I have lost 13lbs so far. I just got to mushy foods this week. I had my first omeletter ever and I thought it was the best thing I ever ate. haha. I live in shreveport.:sneaky:

I quit with the patch also about a week before my surgery. I was scared that with not being able to eat when I was stressed I wouldn't be able to stay quit with the smoking, but I have. I think I am too happy and feel to good to allow myself to fall back right now. congratulation on your success breaking such a loong term habit.:sneaky:

Getting Banded 2/27/08
ReadySteadyGo replied to laramey77's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The not drinking part is really difficult for me, but it will all be worth it. We should keep in touch since our surgeries are just 3 hrs away from each other. -
Thank you all for your prayers and positive thoughts. Also do you know where to go to look at before and after pictures? That seems to calm my jitters.

I am being banded tomorrow. 2/27/08. I am all nerves. I know I am doing the right thing for myself. I know. Yet, I have all these lingering fears. I have always expressed to everyone, especially woman, to love themselves, to embrace their individual size, to not buy in to society's image of beauty...and I still feel this way. I am being banded for my health not my looks, but I still can't help but feel guilt. Dr. Merriman in Louisiana is my surgeon and I have confidence in him and his staff, but I fear complications because they drill the possibility in your head. I am scared, nervous, excited, guilty, anxious, happy, fearfull, stressed, and somewhat overwhelmed all at the same time. I weigh 330. I am 5'2" I need a change and I am so proud of myself for making it...it just seems so drastic. Yet neccesary. I'm mixed up obviously. Wish me luck. Wish me health. Im a bundle of nerves.

Oh! Those waivers. I signed those today. Ahhh! I got the chills reading them, but I know that you have to sign those in any surgery.

That is the best advice. Thank you. New clothes. I can't even imagine buying clothes from a store that sells regular sizes. Going with friends and not just sitting down and waiting for them to finish shopping because the only thing in the store that would fit me would be...socks? That would be just an amazing experience. I have been in plus sizes for as long as I have had a fashion sense.
