Well, I think someone who used to be large is "attacking" someone who is large now because of a statementthat they didn't feel thin was attractive on themselves. They must have taken this a little personally. If I feel that a rounder butt or a little belly pudge is cute than I am not insulting the fact that you are trim and toned. Nor am I not acknowledging how hard you worked to get there. IT's just not for me. Too be "thin" now and bad mouth "obese" people seems pretty misguided. Chill. I can be happy for you without wanting to be you and feel that we are all on a journey here. I don't think you should call someone unhealthy because they don't want exactly the same thing you do. I think that sometimes hostility directs itself at someone who is "thinner" or closer to goal might be a little bit of defensiveness from jealousy or self esteem issues. Not accusing anyone. Just stating my humble opinion.

Both seem pretty misguided to me.

Do you have words that irritate you?
ReadySteadyGo replied to Gibson's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The words "wipe" (excuse my language-->) "twat" and "blubber" oh and "gurgle" These words are like nails to a chalkboard to my ears. -
Well said. I am going to be healthy...I am not healthy now. If I am healthy at a BMI of 40, then I will be happy. If I am healthy at a BMI of 20 then I will be happy. I believe it is truely individual.

susan that was too funny.

I agree. We do not live in a one-size-fits-all world. The price of a airline ticket is outrageous they should be able to accomodate people. Wether they are big, tall, handicapped, or just feel they have paid enough for a ticket they should have enough room to breathe.

ha! that is all

I just wanted to share this joke I saw somewhere. It might not be appropriate. I hope you don't mind. FoodTV- espn for fat people. I have also seen FoodTV- porn for fatties I only laugh at myself because I love high end food and cooking, and I have a biiiig butt. I do watch FoodTV with a little too much excitement. And it has only gotten more intense since being banded (not that I've been banded long) because now those itty bitty fine cruisine dinners would fill me up, when before the main course looked like an appitizer to me.

I agree with you 100%. I used to just eat bread as a snack. I am addicted to bread. I love it so freaking much. Give me a glass of milk and a loaf a bread and I wouldn't need anything else. Weird, yes, unhealthy, totally. Now I eat grapefruit, or apples for Snacks. Or I have one of those little packs of tuna. Being naughty in a much less naughty way. -

Liquid Diet = Stupid!! Why????
ReadySteadyGo replied to coolcrystal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I didn't think she said Her dr. told her to do that. Maybe he/she did but I didn't catch that. I don't know. I do somethings my dr. tell me that I don't agree with. I wasn't even told to go on a pre-op diet until two days before my surgery, so I guess every Dr. is diffrent. -

your thoughts on stretching our "pouches"
ReadySteadyGo replied to youknowit's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
144 is below my goal weight. To me thats tiny. My dr. told me soda or carbonation in general could stretch your pouch, and it is possible...It was my understanding that is one of the things a fill is for...then again you eat soo little. I hope you figure it out. -
My weight loss is hurting my sister
ReadySteadyGo replied to Shinyhappymommy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just wanted to say that as much as this as her attitude hurts you, it hurts her more. You can't control feelings of jealousy, you can only try to ignore them and I am sure she has. If you are as close as you say she is probabley wishes those negative feelings would go away. Give her time to deal with it. If she hasn't said anything directly negative about you or your weight loss she is probabley doing the best she can to overcome these negative thoughts she doesn't want to have. Talk to her. Remember to be understanding. I hope this helps, but mostly I hope that in the end whatever you do stregthens the bonds of your sisterhood. -
some buffets (like golden corral) besides the buffet has options where you can buy a dinner instead. With the basic, meat, potato, veggie option. Maybe lead your family to a buffet such as this?

The only thing I can think to say is go on this journey togethor. Have your meals togethor and help her explore other outlets to replace repressive/emotional eating. That is something I think most of us are working on. My family, also is a family of overweight, men-oppressed, and abused woman. WE have to learn to love ourselves despite what have been done to us, and to not punish ourselves with overeating. We are worth more than that. And maybe your mother could be involved, not suggesting or knowing if she needs to lose weight, but it could be fun. You could all go to a painting class, or walk togethor. If you include her maybe she would be more willing to encourage better eating habits. Either way, I hope this helps. Its a hard situation and I can only say that you and your family are not alone in this issue.
