How soon does weight loss begin?
cklasun replied to katragina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just to update you, I lost 15 lbs as of yesterday morning and today I'm up 4. Still drinking the same my guess is that my body is protecting itself from losing too fast. Annoying but it all evens out. any luck for you today? Hormones play a big role. After my csection in 2013, I was super super swollen for 2.5 weeks, I couldn't even wear flip flops. Dr said it was a reaction to the surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Mine is sore again today too. So crazy I really thought my stomach would be the issue not my damn shoulder!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I was sleeved on 11/4, I'm dying to chew! I hate Water too and chicken broth is gross. I find myself living on vitawater zero (mixed berry!) and I'm supposed to have Protein shakes 2 oz every two hours while awake. I think I'll buy popsicles today and I'm going to re-attempt to Infuse my water to make it more appealing (I saw a thing on Facebook the combos were cool: orange + blueberry, strawberry + basil, and grapefruit + rosemary). I wanted to ask you guys when your dr will let you on full liquid, in just curious. Mine ordered four weeks of clears. Four. Weeks. Omg. I better be looking fly after this!! Honestly the shoulder pain was the worst part of my surgery, it is still sore and I was sleeved 11/4. I'll tell you that meds DO work. I needed narcotics to help relax the shoulder, and combined with heat and walking I finally got relief. I ran out of my liquid pain meds, so I had to call the Dr Sunday night, he gave me the ok to take liquid motrin as long as I was taking my antacid. Please note, this usually is contraindicated bc motrin hard on the stomach and risks one for ulcers. I have to tell you that it was the best relief!!! If you are still hurting, you may want to run this by your dr and see if they'll let you take a couple doses of motrin. It gets better every day, I'm post op day 4 today and my shoulder still sore, and when I take a deep breath I still get a sharp pain in my shoulder (left one). It has to do w/the diaphragm and nerve involvement combined w/the gas. I just hate it, thats what I know.

I just got sleeved last friday. I measured my body week before surgery and I plan to do that monthly, and I planned to weigh myself weekly, but I find myself up on the scale daily.....My husband says he can already see a difference, I'm down 12 lbs since friday....yay!

Hi everyone, I got sleeved on Friday 11/4 and came home from hospital yesterday. As anesthesia wore off I was taking my liquid pain meds and zofran around the clock yesterday and today. I also have the nausea patch behind my ear. When I got home yesterday afternoon I had a low grade fever, and then another today. I know it's normal, but makes me feel crappy. My c-section took a few days for me to be off of narcotics, but this seems a little worse because I can't just swallow a pill to feel better. Most people have said after three days things will be considerably better. My neck and shoulder are killing me too from the c02. I'm glad I had this done, I'm just wondering what others experienced so I can see a light at the end of the tunnel. I'm pretty uncomfortable! Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

What day did you feel better?
cklasun replied to cklasun's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you. It feels so bad like I pulled a muscle and pinched a nerve! Who knew the gas from a lap surgery would be so bad! Ugh. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

When everyone else is drinking
cklasun replied to QueenOfTheTamazons's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sometimes I'd do water w lime in a low ball glass so it looks like vodka soda. I like the cranberry juice idea too, anything pink is assumed to be a cape cod! Honest I don't think it's that people care if you drink alcohol per say, it's as long as you have any drink you're ok....culturally, we feel like bad hostesses if someone doesn't have food or a drink bc we associate it w comfort. We want people around us comfortable especially when hosting a party. I'm likely skipping most parties this hear anyway, as I was just sleeved 11/4, but this is a great topic. -
Tomorrow and Thanksgiving

Hi there! Mine went well, my biggest complaint is the neck and shoulder pain from the laprascopy! Stomach is sore but not too bad, not really nauseous either, it's just this neck/shoulder pain-nothing really relieves it. I've done heat, cold, pain meds, walking and it only relieves it briefly. This too shall pass.... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Sooooo tomorrow is the big day! Nervous and excited. Reading the good the bad and the ugly from this site....I really appreciate everyone who participates because no one in my family understands, and I only know two people who have had it done. Anyway, I plan to track my progress weekly so I don't feel too down over the holidays about my new situation. Anyone planning to get sleeved soon or has been recently sleeved and thinking about the holidays? Normally i'd just work, but i'll be off, so i'm thinking of signing up to volunteer somewhere....maybe the senior center or homeless shelter? Any ideas appreciated and i'd like to hear what others are doing while the family stuffs their faces!

Ok will do!

Sleeved today, hernia repair as well. Here for a standard overnight in hospital, no nausea only when I first woke from surgery but zofran helped. Worst is the shoulder gas pain. Been walking, using my incentive spirometer and asking for pain meds. It's been improving but super slow over the hours. After my nap it improved but then I walked and when I had to take deep Breaths it hurt all over again. The hospital staff and docs have been amazing, I'm happy for my new life. Now to eat liquid for a month.....lol!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Awesome thank you so much for the tip!! I am a bit hungry now/nauseous bc I'm only on ice chips. I'm sure that icky hunger feeling will go away this am when I can drink. My shoulder much better than yesterday but still sore. I asked for zofran bc my swallow study scheduled for 0700 I don't want to get sick. I also got toradol around the clock (like iv Motrin), it's helping now w my sore neck but when I had severe shoulder pain only dilaudid helped. I'll prob go home today, my only fear is being able to keep down pain meds if I need them. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Thank you guys. I was super scared too, it's nothing anyone can't handle, I assure you. I've been asking the nurse for pain meds and staying on top of that Ana nausea meds. Done ice and heat for my shoulder (gas pain from the co2 hurts), and found heat works for me. Have someone stay w you overnight it helps just for moving around and getting ice chips and stuff like that. I'm wearing compression boots and don't want to call the nurse every time I get in bed. They'd happily do it but my husband is right here. It's faster. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
