  1. I'm wearing the only pants I'll be taking, a pair of very loose, comfy lounge pants that won't irritate my abdomen. I'm taking a camisole, a looser tank top in case the camisole bothers me, a soft sports bra without underwire, and I'm wearing the "slippers" I'll use to walk around the hospital. I'm also taking a notebook in case I decide to journal, one of my mio Water flavoring things, toothbrush/paste, face and body wipes, deodorant, hand lotion, my medications, my phone, and the charger. I have netflix and books on my phone if I get bored while awake. Oh, also a sweatshirt. I usually over pack for everything. I think it's a Latina thing, but I did try to keep it to a minimum. My body temperature fluctuates, so I have to prepare for everything. I believe they will give us compression stocking to wear, so I wasn't planning on bringing socks beyond what I'm wearing in. Good luck! Let me know how it goes tomorrow! Mine is at 7:30, so thankfully I don't have to wait around. See you on the other side! Sent From BariatricPal App
  2. Oh, no! I am so sorry! I hope you get well very soon and don't get too down about the push back. It's still real and happening, don't lose your momentum! You've got this! Sent From BariatricPal App

  4. Me too! I can't believe it's right around the corner! The day after tomorrow. It definitely snuck up on me. How are you feeling? I'm a little anxious, but nothing too bad. I hope your surgery goes well and your recovery is as easy as possible! Sent From BariatricPal App Same as both of you, Nov 22! I'm slightly worried about the liver shrinking enough but it's more like I can't believe this is finally happening. Haha Ready to go! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I think as long as we follow the pre-op diet and don't cheat, we should be okay. That's what I'm telling myself, at least, because that was something I could control. I knew I was doing my part. Whether it actually shrunk from the diet is out of my hands, but at least I know I followed my orders. I worry so much about everything as it is, I try to let go of what I can. Definitely doesn't always work, though lol. I'm spending the day getting things ready and organized, washing bed sheets, and packing my bag. Is yours in the AM? How are you feeling? 6. Thank you all for your support and kind words. I'm taking them all to heart and doing some processing, giving it a day to see if I can shift some of the anxiety. You're all so very kind! ❤ Sent From BariatricPal App

    Hot Sauce

I'm not really into hot sauces, but I do like some spicy stuff. One of the Soups I bought for post-op is a "Thai culinary chicken stock" and it says the heat level is medium. I didn't notice that part until afterward, but it didn't bother me. My question here is...how soon after surgery did you all try spicy stuff again? Good or bad experiences? It never occurred to me to ask my nutritionist, which I will, but I thought first hand accounts would also be good to get. Sent From BariatricPal App
  8. I'm still in disbelief that I'm actually here, at this point. It seemed so far away, and now here I am! 3 premiere Protein shakes a day, one lean and green meal, broth, and sugar-free Jello is what my days will look like. There really are no questions here, haha. I suppose I'm just excited and wanted to share! My poor little mind is trying so hard to wrap itself what is about to go down, and it's just not working. This next chapter in my life, well beyond my two week pre-op diet, is going to be completely bonkers. Wow. Let's do this! Sent From BariatricPal App
  9. Not totally sure if this is the proper subforum, but it's about food so here goes. I'm on day 4 of my pre-op diet and it's going very well so far. I've resisted all cravings and have zero intention of giving in. It's usually not terribly difficult as I really cut out all sweets, most carbs, all alcohol and other icky things months ago. But today, I woke up craving a chocolate caramel turtle. The ones with the pecans. I've always clenched my jaw and carried tension there, so chewing things that are really chewy (caramel, those bit o' honey candies, etc.) always really satisfied this bizarre need to work my jaw. This lead to me binge eating foods like that to the point that I was no longer eating just a bit o' honey anymore when I'd consumed 60 pieces of said candy. I'm not interested in returning to those behaviors or stepping a toe out of line on my pre-op diet because thankfully, I'm the paranoid type. Soooo...I'm at a loss. Eventually the craving will subside -- I know, but right now my jaw is really craving that hard chewing session. Being on primarily liquids (except for one meal a day -- again, thankfully) means I'm able to release that tension less often than I'm used to. My understanding is that chewing gum is frowned upon, though, my nutritionist never said anything specifically about it. I also have trouble not swallowing gum, so I don't know if that's a good idea anyhow. When you are really, really craving something, how do you handle it? What do you do to distract yourself until it passes? Has anyone else had this withdrawal from chewing frustration? My mind tends to ruminate on things, and hearing some suggestions would be very helpful. Thank you!! Sent From BariatricPal App

Only today did I experience wanting to eat things I couldnt. Though, it sort of is back. Just trying to focus on the fact that eventually the feeling will pass. Sent From BariatricPal App

    Resisting cravings/chewing/looking for distractions.

Unfortunately, I can't have popsicles right now. I can have one lean and green meal a day, which helps a little. Other than that, I'm on 3 shakes, Jello, and broth a day. Sent From BariatricPal App I'm still pre-op right now, but I'm trying to unlearn the habit. Sent From BariatricPal App

  14. Perhaps some tomato soup if that is allowed per your doctor recommended diet? Some of those are low in calories, but I don't know about sugar/carbs/fat. Definitely check with your nutritionist. I'm sure they hear that question a lot. Sent From BariatricPal App She and I have the same Dr. It's Protein shakes, h2o, broth, Jello and popsicles. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Okay. Mine is similar, but not exact. I use adobo seasoning with pepper from the my Latin market to add flavor to my broth, which I love. Others have said they made broth with carrots, celery, seasoning, then strained it to add more flavor. I also found a Thai seasoned chicken stock (nutritional information fit guidelines of what I could have) at my local Wegman's. I'd probably be okay with that and Protein Shakes. Maybe have a caramel flavored one (premiere protein is what I use) for "dessert". Sent From BariatricPal App

    Pre-Op Diet Begins Tomorrow Morning!

I'm on day 4, so I'll let you know. I've been getting headaches in the afternoons, even with making sure I'm getting my Protein in. Hopefully today will be easier, but otherwise it actually hasn't been too bad. My date is the 22. I wish it were here already! Sent From BariatricPal App

Right now I'm obsessed with Outlander. Just bought the new season. I really should have waited until my surgery to start it, but I was too excited. Sent From BariatricPal App

    New topic time...

I wish i had a tub that I could soak in. Mine is tiny witha ridiculously low overflow drain. I pretty much can cover my butt cheeks and nothing else. HW 385 SW 359 CW 335 (50lbs down!) Sleeved 10/5/16 My tub is also tiny, which the surgery should help with, but currently it's not super relaxing. I did find a solution to the low overflow thingy, though. I found on amazon a little plastic cover that goes over the overflow thing and it allows you to put more Water in without it getting sucked down the overflow. Additionally, I looked for bath bombs made for the shower on etsy. They fizz and steam and have aromatherapy properties (I bought one for relaxation, one for energizing you when you have a cold, and one for headaches). Definitely worth a look! Pre-Op Diet Begins Tomorrow Morning!

Somehow miraculously managed to not eat my emotions today. That was challenge, but not as big of one as I'd expected. I am hungrier today, but I'm finding it's difficult for me to time out when I eat versus when I have to be out of the house because I have nothing to take for my lean and green meal that's on-the-go and I keep being in situations where I can't eat or only have a few minutes. I really don't have much in the way of actual support at home to help make sure I have what I need, which is very frustrating because the two relatives I live with have had the vsg already and are preparing to have it shortly after I have mine. So, today has been less ideal, but not terrible. Hopefully tomorrow will be better, but considering what I really need is time to cook chicken (which I don't really have), I think tomorrow will be a repeat of me trying to piece together food that's allowed. Right now I'm really wishing I could go buy pre-cooked chicken breasts that aren't disgusting or unhealthy. Blah. I have a hunger headache, so I'm just rambling at this point. Someone stop me before I hurt myself. Sent From BariatricPal App

    Pre-Op Diet Begins Tomorrow Morning!

This definitely seems like a listening to your doctor is best sort of situation. If you're unsure, you could ask them to sit down with you and go over the reasons why you should or should not have one, and they can help you make the choice that's best for you. Personally, I believe having as much info as possible before surgery is what will help it go as smoothly as it possibly can. It is more difficult for medical professionals to prepare for anything out of the ordinary if they don't have warning. If they know ahead of time, it's easier to make sure there are no surprises. Trust your team, but ask questions. Be sure you are infomed. If you forget, ask again. They won't mind, I promise. They want you to succeed and be fully prepared. Best of luck! Pre-Op Diet Begins Tomorrow Morning!

Okay, so for my lean and green meal I had a meatless option. 2 cups of egg beaters was the one I chose. Holy moly, that's a lot of eggs! I don't think I can even eat it all! I thought it would one or two eggs or the egg beaters equivalent to that. Aside from a lack of space in my stomach issue, I don't think my taste buds can tolerate two cups of eggs. I have a whole half a very large plate full of eggs with about a cup of spring mix lettuce, and I think I'm done. Do I have to eat all of that? Next time I'm definitely doing chicken! That's a great idea with the carrots and celery! I might try that! My broth today was really good, actually! Helped that it's cold outside. Pushing the water and finally eating my lean and green! I didn't realize how hungry I was until I took the first bite! It'll be nice once I'm in a rhythm with this as far as timing things out goes. Sent From BariatricPal App
