    Alcohol after WLS

I've never been a drinker. If I never had a drink again I wouldn't think twice. I am curious how much of a lightweight one becomes as a result of the surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  4. I had a fairly easy recovery....until now. Something in my stomach is clawing me from the inside out. Every second of the day I have this horrible, gnawing pain in my stomach. I can't keep any food down and Water is becoming a chore. I've maybe had 8 oz of water today and the food I have attempted to eat has just come back up. My head is pounding. I know this is an ulcer. I had one a couple years ago - not nearly this bad. I called my surgeon's office first thing this morning and a nurse was going to call me right back, but never did. Is there anything I can do tonight for relief? I'm trying to eat yogurt, thinking maybe it will coat my stomach a bit, but it's just coming right back up. 1 month post op.....MISERABLE!

So you still take your Prilosec?I was told that I might not need mine afterwards, because most of the acid that comes from acid reflux would be cut out in the past of the stomach that was removed. So I haven't taken mine. I don't like taking pills at all. They hurt me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I just got switched to double dose of Omeprazol. It seems to be working, along with the liquid Carafate. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    DEEP, DEEP HUNGER

I'm 4.5 weeks out and was experiencing this deep, constant, gnawing hunger type pain in my stomach. I would have thought it was hunger, except I recognized it as the same type of pain I had when I had an ulcer a couple years ago. I'm on my 3rd day of meds for the ulcer and am already feeling better and that hunger type pain is fading. I have no idea if that's what you're experiencing, but thought I would share just in case... Post OP day 2, lots of pressure

Walk, walk, walk, walk. I'm 4.5 weeks out and I can remember thinking to myself that walking did more to relieve pain then the prescription pain narcotics. Walking will do wonders for you. Hang in there...it gets so much better with each day. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

It absolutely makes NO freaking sense to me... **MY RANT**

I'm 4.5 weeks post op and I cook for my family and watch them eat and it doesn't really bother me. The only thing I wish I could have is a big bowl of salty, buttery popcorn. I'm in Clear Liquids until tomorrow (again), thanks to an ulcer that crept up on me this past week. I'm looking forward to a Protein shake tomorrow! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    1 month post op.....MISERABLE!

Tomorrow I will start on full liquids. I'm already starting to feel a little bit better. I still have that gnawing hunger type pain in my stomach, but it's manageable...unlike a few days ago when I was doubled over in pain. Sloooooow and steady for me. Is my bypass working?

Yes, your bypass is working, but YOU aren't working your bypass. Stick to your doctor's plan. Don't move on to the next phase until you are supposed to. The consequences aren't worth it. You've worked too hard and come too far to let a day or two of food boredom ruin your progress. Stay strong. You got this. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    3wks out tacos?

My plan allows light mayo and Refried beans Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Mine does too. Ground meat is also allowed starting the 3rd week. Add those two together with a bit of shredded cheese on top and I'd call that a taco (without the shell).
  13. Tabatha, I am so sorry you are going through this. I wish I had magic words to make you feel better. I will be thinking of you. Rest up and please update us when you can.

Meh...my motto is "you do you and I'll do me". It's too much energy to get worked up over someone in the Internet getting worked up. I'm just here to talk. That's all this is...a discussion. Easy enough to move on. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Sore, burning pain

I was sleeved in August 23rd and have had mild to moderate pain and soreness. Then yesterday it started to REALLY hurt again. In fact, I even took a Percocet this morning that I had leftover from the surgery. I'm a bit surprised by this, but I was just with my surgeon yesterday (for a surprise ulcer...grr) and she said soreness and some pain is still expected at this point. Messed up

My surgeon told me a story how she had a patient stop and eat chicken nuggets on her way home ONE DAY after surgery. She said it messed this lady up so bad it was 3 months before she could attempt solid foods again. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    1 month post op.....MISERABLE!

I called my surgeon's office first thing this morning. Apparently they tried to call numerous times yesterday, but couldn't get through. They had be come right in today. I did a swallow test and she said she did not see a leak, but those tests can sometimes produce false negatives. She feels confident that it's an ulcer, based on my symptoms and the fact that I've had one before. She wants me to start over on the post op diet and go through it all again. So Clear liquids for the next 3 days, full liquids after that until Day 15, then soft food until Day 28. I'm fine with that. Food hurts too much right now anyway. She also doubled my Omeprazol, put me on liquid Carafate, An anti-nauseous med, and one other thing that I can't remember at the moment. Hopefully I'll get some relief and get back to normal. Cheated on Pre Op Diet

My pre-op diet was 10 days, 800 or less calories. They gave me a recommended diet consisting for 3-4 Protein shakes and a Lean Cuisine meal for dinner. They said they normally never recommend frozen dinners, or anything with a label for that matter, but for this diet they did, just because it was a bit more foolproof on the calorie counting. Cheated on Pre Op Diet

Don't beat yourself up. It's not easy to just flip a switch and change years of bad habits. I don't agree at all that this might mean you aren't ready for the surgery. Tomorrow is another day. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Smmoookkkiiinnnn!

Fishing and guns? This is the BEST thread. Maybe a bit off topic... I'm 27 days post op. I conceal carry everywhere I go, but haven't since my sleeve. With the incisions, I haven't felt that I could safely, and swiftly draw my firearm from my holster (in the bra), until I'm more healed. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Is it true what I hear ?

I'm cleared to be on a full diet, but I'm still mostly in soft food. The most solid I've been is some chicken salad mix and I definitely got the full feeling once I hit about a quarter cup. ...and then it came back up. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
