    Anthem BCBS NC

So I have Anthem BCBS and I have SEVERE anxiety about this pre op 6 month diet because I was denied 2 years ago. So far I've been 2 times (the initial appt and a follow up) and I've maintained but not lost anything. I'm going to be honest, I started back at school and wasn't really trying. Now my anxiety has really set in. I'm walking now and monitoring calories. My fear is that they will still deny no matter what I do. How much weight do I have to lose? How much did you lose? Help please! I'm walking 3X a week for 30 mins and taking in about 1700 calories. (MyFitnessPal) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Vitamins are killing my carb limit!

Get bariatric vitamins. If they are bariatric vitamins then I just wouldn't count that with your carbs cus you'll have to take them anyways Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Food Aversions

I can't do eggs either. I also wouldn't drink the diet ginger ale, even if it's flat. It's still soda. Get honest kids juice pouches. They are a lifesaver! Expensive because they are organic but I love them! Low in cals and sugar Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Hormel 60 second meal

So long as the fat and carbs are okay then yes! Absolutely! You're going to get sick of cooking for 5-6 meals a day! Trust me! My NUT has no problem with stuff like that or frozen dinners as long as they are high in protein and low in fat, sugars, and carbs. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. Honestly, consider yourself lucky. I'm 5 weeks out and basically the first 3 weeks post op I ate nothing. In the beginning I was able to do yogurt but things started going down hill and I was dehydrated and developed a kidney infection. I was in the ER 3 times in the first 3 weeks. Every single time it was for nausea. SEVERE nausea. Theyd get it under control and send me home then it'd come back worse than before. FINALLY on day 23, I believe it was, they sent a nurse to my house and gave me steroids and vitamins via IV and it literally saved me. I haven't had to take any nausea meds since then! At one ER visit I needed a potassium infusion because I was throwing up so much it threw off my electrolytes. Let me forewarn you... potassium infusions BURN. they burn a lot. Everyone's recovery is different. Be glad your only battle is head hunger. I went through so much misery those first few weeks that the thought of eating something that could make me sick again is so repulsive that my family could eat whatever they want in front of me and it doesn't bother me in the slightest. It'll get better it just takes time Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Has anyone been tubed?

See if steroids help... I needed them to decrease swelling so I could eat. Before that I had SEVERE nausea so I couldn't eat Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. So I'm 16 days post op and I'm having so many issues with food and liquids. I'm only averaging about 30 oz of fluids a day and 200-300 calories if I'm lucky. I'm barely getting in any Protein. Less than 10 g a day. I don't know what to do... so much seems to make me nauseous and I can't even stand the thought of food. I've already been to the hospital for nausea and dehydration. My mom is convinced that when I see the surgeons pa tomorrow that they are going to send me to the hospital to force me to eat. She thinks I'm deliberately starving myself for attention or that I'm depressed. I am upset about how things are playing out but I'm not depressed. I know this will pass eventually. When I can eat it's only about 1.5-2oz. I need calories from somewhere but I seriously CANT have any protein shakes. I've always had issues with them but since surgery... well those of you who've had surgery know what I mean. Help please! I don't know what to do! I've tried yogurts, Soups, Jello, scrambled eggs, ricotta cheese, mashed potatoes, cream of wheat... I really don't know what to do anymore. Even the unflavored Protein Powder is just ? help please! Feelin' sorry for myself

Your insurance company should have info about home health care that you can have for those 2 days. My insurance specifically asked if I'd need it or not and I just got approved. No surgery date yet Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. So I am approved for RNY and I get my date on the 16th! I am about 240 right now so I want to lose another 100-115ish pounds to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 140-125ish depending on how I feel. Does insurance cover skin surgery/body lift to reduce sagging skin if I were to need it? If not, those who've had it... what was your out of pocket cost total?? Pre op diet and weight gain

Sorry I'm going to warn you ahead of time, this will probably be a long post. So I was denied for surgery 2 years ago. I wasn't quite heavy enough to qualify. Fast forward 2 years and now I'm about 20-30 lbs heavier and I meet the weight requirement. BUT now insurance requires a 6 month physician supervised weight loss. I go next week and that will be my 5th visit. So far I've lost 8 lbs BUT due to hurricane Matthew we lost power so, not being able to cook, I fell off the wagon and gained back like 5-6 lbs. I have another weight recheck on the 21st and I'm paranoid! The dr doesn't have any record of me gaining the weight per say because I am in between appointments but what if I can't lose the excess weight that I gained back before my next appointment?! What's everyone's experience with this pre op weight loss stuff? I just have such anxiety about it because I was denied last time. Help :/ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Pre op diet and weight gain

My insurance requires a bmi of 35-39 with a comorbid condition or just a bmi of 40+. My bmi is like 43ish. With either scenario you have to do a 6 month pre op diet but I'm just so paranoid because I was denied 2 years ago. My bmi was 37ish and they didn't consider my pre diabetes or pcos a comorbid condition Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Fruit after bypass

I would try not to because they have little to no Protein. They are just added sugar and carbs. Once you get to a year + out you can add that stiff Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
