How often did/ do you vomit post-surgery?
kimberb replied to MN_Meg770's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have never vomited either. Sent from my SM-G892A using BariatricPal mobile app -
My surgeon and nutritionist was at the Fresno Kaiser N. Cal. I did my classes thru the Modesto Kaiser N. Cal. We were allowed to weigh in at any Kaiser health center. I was not weighed on day of my psych or nutritionist appointment. The surgeons scale was the one that trumped any other scales. I noted the weight difference between his scale and my home scale. So I always had a pretty good idea what my weight was. Fresno Kaiser let us take off our shoes. It was summer so I was always in flip flops. I weighed myself in different clothes to find the lightest outfit I had and I wore that specific outfit thru my whole process. Even on surgery day. I wanted to stay at least 3 lbs under my surgery required weight. I was so afraid that I'd be above surgery weight. So i gave myself a 3 lbs cushion. My required weight was 227 and on day of surgery I weighed 220. I am almost 8 months out. Starting weight 243 Surgery weight 220. Current weight 159.6 Good luck to you all. Muscle weighs more than fat. Could it be that with all your working out you are gaining muscle? Sent from my SM-G892A using BariatricPal mobile app -

kimberb replied to Aginn10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 7 months out. I've tried a sip here and there of soda. Can't stand it anymore. Be very careful for a lot of us carbonated drinks could be a trigger food for us. I'd avoid it. But that's me Sent from my SM-G892A using BariatricPal mobile app -
Call your surgeon and see what he/she says.

Hello everyone. I am almost 7 months post-op. At about 3 months post-op my hairstylist started to see hair loss. The hair loss has only gotten worse. I had thin hair to begin with. My hairstylist suggested some hair extensions for the crown area. Has anyone tried hair extensions?

I didn't think about them causing more damage to my hair. I'll talk to my stylist about it. I dread wearing a wig because I've heard they make your head hot.

Glue in.

Good luck to you all. See you on the loser's bench.

When does the light shine
kimberb replied to QueenTiff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try a stool softner. I struggled with bowel movements. Surgeon had me start taking them 2 weeks post-op. Once i started eating solid food the problem went away. It gets better. -
My surgeon did not let me have caffeine week before surgery. I could drink all the decaf coffee and tea I wanted. 6 weeks post-op I was given the okay to have a caffeine drink. I choose tea. Talk with your nutritionist and surgeon about it.

Congratulations.

What the heck? I know about the weight struggle. I deal with it on a daily bases. Is there anything I said that was incorrect? Is not protein, fluids, vitamins and exercise something we all need for success? All these things are a life time commitment.

I was told that hair loss is due to body being in shock from surgery and rapid weight loss. I am almost 7 months post o.p and am losing lots of hair. It's just part of the process. I was told that most people start noticing new hair growth after a year post o.p. I sure hope so.

Is Post sleeve diet similar to Keto diet?
kimberb replied to nativenm's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Most definitely contact your nutritionist. Everyone's diet plan seems to be so different. Dieting is hopefully behind you. You now need to eat as healthy as you can. Think of an eating plan you can sustain. I know there are a lot of people that are into the Keto plan. Not me. I eat very little of breads and rice. I haven't had any pasta (6 month post-op). For me there is no nutritional value from them and they take up valuable space in my new tummy. My nutritionist doesn't want me to worry about carbs and fat. She wants me to focus on my protein. Good luck on your journey -
PTSD and Surgery
kimberb replied to chamomilelavender's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have depression and anxiety. I had to get clearance from my psychiatrist and therapist before I could get surgery. I had to be in stable condition. No changing of medications for 3 months. I had a few extra hoops to jump thru but wasn't bad. -
Breast Reduction-Help Please Bra Problems
kimberb replied to ssflbelle's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Try Victoria Secrets. I just bought my first new bra from there. Fits perfectly. -
No carbonated drinks ever. That includes sparkling wine. I'm six months out. My surgeon gave me clearance to drink alcohol after 2 months. I drink at least once a week. Wine is my choice. Do remember that you will handle alcohol differently after surgery.

I just made my 6 month post surgery mark. Been averaging about 10#'s loss per month. I've gone from a size 22 pants/shorts to a 12. 1x - 2x to a medium - small in tops. I just bought my first pair of 10 shorts. They are tight. My dilemma is, I'm going on a cruise to Cozumel Mexico end of November and I'm worried about having clothes that fit. I've noticed the selection of shorts and summer tops are getting fewer and limited in sizes. Stores are already starting to put out Fall clothing. I originally thought I'd buy size 10s for the cruise but being that I can already fit into them I'm not sure what to do. Has anyone tried to buy smaller sizes for future and succeeded in wearing them? If so how did you pick the size? I really don't like the elastic waist kind. I HAD to wear those for so long.
-
I have 30#'s to goal. I thought I'd be in a size 10 at goal. Dresses for days at port are not a good option. We are hiking to a Mayan Temple in one port and zip lining and swimming with dolphins in second port.

Wow, where is feeling bitter going to help? If you hadn't of had the surgery where would you be now? Your attitude is a factor in your success or failure. Are you reaching your daily goals for protein and water? Are you taking your vitamins? Are you getting some form of daily exercise? If you answered yes to all of those questions then you are doing all you can. Your body is adjusting.
