Good advice. I also have had a little harsh response to one of my posts. Please don't let a few hurtful responses turn you off to this. There is an extremely amount of experience and tips here. I have gained so much info. I believe that the people who are the furthest out from surgery tend to forget how they felt when they were starting out. Don't engage with negative comments. That's the best way to handle it. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

I also have to lose 15#'s to get my surgery. I don't have a time limit. But I'm hoping to get the green light for a surgery date on Nov 17th, so I really want to be at surgery goal weight then.. I stay between 1000 to 1200 calories a day and I drink at least 64 Oz of Water. No caffeine. I'm allowing myself one night of eating out weekly. I still watch what I'm eating. Don't drink calories if you don't have any to spare for that. I exercise in the gym 90 min twice weekly (50 min. Weights 40 min cardio). I started at 30 min weights and 20 min cardio. I also walk at least 30 min. a day. (Not all at once) Every other day I have only a shake for Breakfast then 2 meals. I try not to have any Snacks. I lost 5lbs before surgeon gave me goal weight. Since seeing the surgeon 10/1 I have lost another 5lbs. We can do this. I've also started attending a nutrition class and a weight loss group. Both are very helpful. We are going on a 4 day trip to Reno next week. I'm a little...no very nervous about this. Luckily for me we are going in our motorhome. So I plan on doing shakes for breakfast, lite lunch (around 300 calories) and then eat out for dinner. I'm going to limit my alcohol drinking to one drink a day. Lots of walking. I really really don't want to gain! I'll also be weighing myself daily. BariatricPal is a great place to gather helpful info. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Some answers can be harsh (have experienced that) but for the most part people relate to exactly what you are going through. Good luck with your journey. I'm closer to surgery, but further from being easy with this decision! Help.

You have plenty of time to educate yourself about weight loss surgery and decide if it's for you. I haven't had my surgery yet. I wasn't sure I wanted it. I've spent a lot of time on here and have done a lot of research. I've decided this is for me. Good luck with your journey. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T337A using the BariatricPal App -
Walk, walk , walk. My surgeon told me to walk as much as possible. Build up to at least 30 minutes a day. I can return to my gym and training sessions after 3 weeks. Ask your bariatric team. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T337A using the BariatricPal App

I have 10 ponds to lose and complete 6 weekly classes of Mindful Eating to get my surgery date. This last week was the first one that I started tracking food and calories. I have lost 2#'s. I love to eat out. My hubby and mom love to eat out. Mom is within her healthy bmi. Hubby is not. Hubby has always been able to lose weight when he sets his mind to it. Last night hubby and I had date night. We went to a nice restaurant where I had NY steak, black Beans and about 2 tablespoons of citrus flavored rice. I also had 2 glasses of wine. We went to see a movie. I took a bottle of Water. I also took one square of sea salt dark chocolate. I ate very light during the day cause I wanted to save my calories for dinner. I did go over my 1200 calorie intake. But I was OK with that. It wasn't by very much. We always go out for Breakfast on Sundays with my mom. This Sunday I already knew I wasn't going because I'd splurged last night. Hubby and mom went out. I was OK with it at first. By the time they got back I was a mess. I felt so left out. Hubby said you could of gone out and just ate some eggs. He swears that once I have my surgery he will be on board to change his diet and start losing weight. He thinks after surgery is the time I will be forced to make changes. I've explained to him that I've already started to change my eating habits and mentally preparing for my life change. Only ate out once this last wk (last night) have gotten all fluids every day. Still working on the protien thing. How did everybody deal with the lifestyle changes pre-op? I can't expect my mom and hubby to stop eating out because I'm not. I really want to lose the 10 pounds by Nov 16th. That is the day I have my last class. On the 17th I speak with bariatric psychologist and hopefully I will be cleared for surgery. Between us, I'm really resentful that they went out for breakfast. Hubby could of stayed home with me and had breakfast. This feels so petty. But it is how I feel Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T337A using the BariatricPal App

You're really really close now. Stay the course. You got this. Can you have sugar free Jello? If so put your candle in that. Happy Birthday and congrats on all the hard work you've already done. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

Wow congrats to you for resisting that pizza. I don't think I could do that. Wishing all of you on pre-op diet for time to fly by. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

This is the first time this has occurred to me. I thought I was prepared for it. I do/did realize I was being petty. The feelings really did take me by surprise. If I hadn't of gone out the night before I would of gone out this morning. My hubby does support my decision to have WLS. He also has about 100 #'s to lose. It is his decision to lose weight not mine. No one else experienced something like this? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

Hi, I met with my surgeon on Monday and he told me I would probably lose weight slower because of my thyroid. I was wondering if others with underactive thyroid have had any problems losing weight after their surgery? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T337A using the BariatricPal App

Met with the bariatric psychologist. Found out that since the dosage of one of my depression meds had been changed recently, I have to be stable for 3 months. Frustrating. The second week of November is 3 months. Also my regular psychologist and therapist put in my chart that I needed to return to group theraphy. I went for 8 months. Been there done that. Explained to the Bariatric psychologist the reasons I stopped and that I am continuing my personal therapy sessions. She decided to require that I attend 6 classes that are once a week. Happy. Met with the sugeon. I am having the sleeve. I have to lose 10#'s. Happy. Met with the nutritionist I am on 1200 calorie diet. My two week pre-op diet consists of lean Proteins and Clear liquids. Happy The surgeon told me that from the time I finish all the above requirements that surgery would be scheduled one to two weeks later. Oh My Gosh. This is really going to happen. Freaking out. It wasn't to long ago that I was in your exact spot. I asked for opinions. Should I gain the 7 lbs to reach bmi of 40? I got the same exact answers. Has your height been checked? If not you might want to try not locking your knees when they measure you. An inch shorter can get you to the required bmi.. I thought I was 5"4 but I turned out to be 5"3. I also ate a huge meal before being weighed in. Rolls of quarters stashed on your body is good advice. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T337A using the BariatricPal App

Hit send accidentally. LolShe said that there may be a little tweaking of the dosage but there should be no reason why I can't continue my meds. We tweak my meds every now and then anyways. I also have been going to therapy for 4 years. I highly recommend that you start some form of group or one on one therapy. It really helps. I also think that you are probably going through withdrawal. On top of everything else. I'd definitely talk to your bariatric team. Tell them your struggles. You have to get back on track. This is the window you have to lose the most weight. Yes you're challenged. Don't use it as a way to rationalize why you are not on plan. Use it as an extra boost to get THIS DONE. I'm struggling with losing weight to get surgery. I have a whole list of reasons why. Some legit and some excuses. Talking with my therapist she pointed this out to me. I've been working on my mental part of this journey. Identify the excuses, realize I am in control. Figure how to overcome my legit problems. Example. I have asthma the air quality where I live sucks right now because of the harvesting of almonds. I can't get outside much. But I can take my rescue inhailer and get my butt to the gym. Please get back on plan and don't let this chance slip by. As someone who has depression, anxiety and bipolar II I'm wondering why on earth they'd take you off meds like that. I'm assuming you're in a withdrawal state - there are a lot of newer antidepressants that aren't bad with the weight gain. As stated above, a good therapist really helps. I see one every week. But, I'm not surprised you're having a hard time if they took you off meda like that cold turkey. I'd definitely see a psychiatrist and a therapist for help. Hi everyone, I went thru the second step required by my Kaiser today. The surgeon, nutritionist and our case manager each spoke and explained the surgery, diet and requirements to achieve surgery. We got our binder ( WLS bible) I'm very lucky. I don't have to do any sleep apnea or endoscopic procedure. I will have 3 appointments. One with Nutritionist, Psychology evaluation and a meeting with surgeon to discuss what procedure is best for me and my surgery goal weight. Once I have reached weight goal I will do all blood work and if everything is good I will have my WLS I hope I can go through all the hoops and have surgery sometime in December. Only time will tell. I'm so excited and nervous.
