    TOMORROW IS THE BIG DAY!

My surgery goal weight is 227. My scale reads 224.2. I had to track my food and exercise. Have done that since Sept 1. Thursday 11/4 I have a phone call consult with the NUT. She needs to clear me for surgery. Fingers crossed. I have a phone consult with psychologist on 11/17. She asked me to attend a Mindful Eating class for 5 weeks and no change to my depression or anxiety meds. My last class is the 16th. No change in meds. So I'm really hoping to be cleared for surgery on the 17th. My surgeon said surgery is usually 1-2 weeks after clearance. If all goes according to plan (knock on wood) I should have surgery around 12/1. Which is not really all that much time from starting to surgery. 3 months. Hope you are doing well. Too much protein shake?

Hi, I also deal with migraines (hereditary). Have you just recently stopped caffeine or smoking? That could cause a migraine. I have a medication my PCP gave me years ago that has been working really. When I was in my tweens, twenties and early thirties I had them bad boys frequently. Mid thirties to my late forties (with meficatin) I might have one a month. For the medication to work at its best you need to take it at the onset of a migraine. Just a few months ago I was out and about when one hit. By the time I got home my migraine was in full swing. I suffered for a week. I went to my PCP and he gave me this shot and my migraine was gone, all gone in 15 min. I was so shocked that it worked the way doc said it would. I thought to myself "yeah right". I'm worried about having migraines the closer I get to surgery (stress is a trigger for me) & after when my body is going through the trauma from surgery. I plan to talk to my surgeon about being able to take my migraine pills in hospital? Just in case. If they persist I'd talk to you primary doc. Hope you feel better soon Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T337A using the BariatricPal App

  4. Hello everyone, I started my ProCare Bariatric Chewable dietary supplement this morning. It's once daily. I have been taking 3 huge capsules daily. My NUT suggested I try the chewable. My taste bugs gave their opinion, disgusting. Thankfully I only have a months supply. I can't imagine trying to get one of these things down my throat after surgery. What are you using? Have you tried the zucchini noodles? Do you like them? Is purchasing one of the gadgets worth it? I have a really small kitchen that is already full. Lol OK guys you may want to end here. Next is bras I don't remember seeing the topic about how quickly your bra size changed? I'm a 42 C. I purchase good quality bras. I get sticker shock every year when I buy replacements. I'm just wondering what you experienced? I was a 32 B back in the day. Bob's got bigger as I got bigger. Oh and I weighed in this morning at 226 I have a nutritionist and psychologist phone appointments in November. If I get the clearance from them I'll have my surgery early December. Surgery goal weight required is 227. I'm getting closer Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T337A using the BariatricPal App
  5. I totally agree with you. I have been going to the gym at least twice a week and working out with a trainer. At first I felt a little self concious. I would look around to see if anyone was watching me, they weren't. People at the gym for the most part are concerned with themselves. The more I sweat the more proud of myself I am. I picture those calories burning out of my body. I do one session working on upper body and the nextOne on working lower body. Both with weights. When I first started I couldn't even lift just the bar for leg presses. I felt humiliated. My trainer told me, soon I'd be able to press that bar up using legs (he had to help me) then one day I got on that freaking press and lifted the bar by myself. Hot damn was so excited I screeched loudly I DID IT! Mind you for the most part I'm in a room with mostly men, young and hunks. Lol Lots of them chuckled and yelled congratulations. I'm now up to pressing bar and 10#'s You got to start somewhere. Put your ear buds in and rock out. The more you go the easier it gets. Oh and awesome for doing 2 miles on treadmill Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T337A using the BariatricPal App
  6. Maybe try to not weigh yourself every day or every week? Haven't had my surgery yet but I read on here that someone had her hubby keep the scale in his truck for the first 3 weeks. I thought that was a fantastic tip. Planning to have my hubby keep our scale in his car. I'm a person that has weighed every day since committing to having the surgery on September 1. I also have tracked every thing I put in my mouth since then. Keep in mind that the non surgical way to lose weight healthy is 1# per week on average. Surgery helps us succeed that and then some. When you are feeling like you're not losing fast enough calculate your weight loss for weekly and not daily. If you are over 1# then you are excelling. Try to remember that to keep track of inches. My surgeon said during most weight stalls the body is adjusting to rapid weight loss and that is the time to track inches lost. I truly hope that post-op I don't get discourage from only losing X amount of pounds. I want to remember that X amount of pounds is more than I would of lost without surgery. Good luck. Exercise & Fitbit

I got my fitbit a week ago. I did some research about it before buying. In several studies the fitbit had an almost perfect score in calculating your steps. Best score for heartbeat accuracy. Best place to wear it is 1 to 2 fingers width ABOVE your WRIST bone. Not to tightly or will hinder accuracy. For me it took some getting use to wearing it higher up on my arm. I also have to check if the fitbit has slid down to my wrist and is loosely turning. I started wearing a bracelet under fitbit and am now comfortably wearing fitbit above wrist bone. Overall the Fitbit Charge 2 (which is the model I have) scored the highest out of all other wrist trackers. I wear a 7 1/4 bracelet. I was going to get the small band but got the large one because of placement above wrist. I got the plum color and love it. Goes with everything. The sales person at best buy suggested I try Amazon to buy additional bands. For a "fitbit" brand name costs around a $100 . (Fitbit hasn't come out with additional band colors for the charge 2 yet) On amazon you can by bands that will work with fitbit products. For charge 2 you can get 10 colors for 39.99 Merry Christmas to me. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T337A using the BariatricPal App

    Weight Loss

The lower your bmi the slower the weight will come off. If you are losing on average one pound a week that is the normal weight loss for non-surgery patients. really try not to compare your weight loss journey to others. We are all different. I have yet to have my surgery. The doc wanted me to lose 15#'s, which will put me right at 40 bmi. I'm hoping to have my surgery 1st part of December. 17. At Fresno Kaiser they went back 12 months. Your highest weight recorded (Doc visits usually weigh) will be the one you start from. I'd highly suggest you go to your Kaiser. You can go to the Health center to be weighed. Be sure they enter your weight on your record. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

Hiking & Camping VSG Food Ideas

How about pocket recipes? This is food wrapped in tin foil (use heavy tin foil) You can pre-make them. Your choice of meat and veggies. You can cook them on a grill or put in hot coals. I use to do a lot of tent camping back in the day. This was my go to way to cook. Google it or try pintrest. We now live full time in a 36 ft motorhome and are seeing the U.S.A. Glamping is what it's called. Lol Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T337A using the BariatricPal App

    Noodles

I haven't had my surgery yet. That being said. I am trying to eat like I will post op (for the most part) I love love Pasta. I make an awesome spaghetti. So I'm going to make my meat sauce and set some aside for me and then mix the rest with pasta. For pizza I'm going to only eat the toppings and no crust. Everyone has to decide how they are going to travel their own weight loss journey. I was told by my surgeon the first 12 to 18 months are the most critical for staying on plan. That is the window for your most weight loss. I plan on doing that. Research shows eating carbs during this window slows down and can stop your overall weight-loss. It throws your body out of this mode of losing. I really believe people are trying to get you to realize that carbs at this stage in your journey is a bad idea. 24. Lol. What a great idea. I think I will have my hubby keep our scale in his car until 3 weeks out. My surgeon told our group that you are healed 3 weeks out. I too hope I don't do hubby any bodily harm. Lol Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

    Hypothyroidism? Losing weight?!

The only way to stabilize your thyroid is with meds. I was told by my surgeon that if I had come in for surgery 4 months ago he would not of operated on me because my thyroid was to out of wack. It was 6.4 in June. On September 1st it was 4.3 (4.0 is were Kaiser likes it). My PCP had upped my thyroid med in June. I have dealt with underactive thyroid for about 15 years. Not only does it mess with your weight but it can cause serious complications to your overall health status. If you can't get your PCP to treat you, leave them and go to one that will.
