    Depression and Anxiety Meds

I'm with Kaiser. My surgeon told me that any pill that is smaller than a pencil eraser does not have to be crushed. I'm on wellbutrin XL and he said I don't have to crush them. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T337A using the BariatricPal App

    Just Scheduled.

Congratulations. Be as informed as you can. Ask lots of questions. Know what is expected of you, weight loss, food restrictions, diet, how many pounds to lose are just a few. When you think of a question write it down so you'll remember it when you have your next appointment. Read this forum. I've learned so much since joining. Final weigh-in

Didn't your surgeon tell you? I had to lose 15#'s and keep it off until my surgery. Which I I don't have a date for yet. I'm with Kaiser and at the very first meeting they give you a binder that tells you exactly what you should be doing and when. Each surgeon has their own rules and regulations. People can only tell you what they had to lose. Not what you have to lose. I'd call your bariatric team and ask them what their plan is for you so you know exactly what to do and not have to be guessing. This is a very stressful and intense journey with the knowledge of what you are required to do. Don't make it harder on yourself by no knowing. Gallbladder

The only thing I've found that my body did not like after having gallbladder removed was blood Mary's and lemonade. I haven't been sleeved yet. I'd continue with your sleeve diet Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T337A using the BariatricPal App

    Help

Recommit to yourself. No mindless eating or cheating. You are only cheating yourself of all the hard work you have already done. Track what you are eating and calories. No matter what it is. You know what to do. You've been successful, you can do it. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

    Pre-surgery weight loss

Caffeine slows down the healing process. My doc wants no caffeine for at least 3 months post-op. 1/2 decaf will help you ease into no caffiene. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

    Losing Motivation

I'm kinda in the same boat as you. I was super diligent about keeping track of everything I ate and drank for 3 months till I reached my surgery goal weight. Since the week of Thanksgiving I haven't tracked anything. I do weigh myself daily to be sure I am still 2 pounds below surgery goal weight. Wanted a cushion. I don't put anything into my body that I haven't consciously decided to eat. No mindless eating. I know I will lose more weight on pre-op diet. I'm okay with that. Please don't try to compare your journey with your friends. You have successfully lost 12 #'s. That's great. You have 5 months to lose more weight. Some days/weeks will be better than other's. Just aim for a lot more better eating days. Pat yourself on the back for losing the 12#'s and not gaining them back. Good luck on your journey. 13. You might want to ask your surgical team about what your weight was on day of surgery if you really want to know. I'm pretty sure they had to weigh you for anesthesia reasons. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App
  14. My insurance uses my starting weight and bmi. I specifically asked because I was at 42 bmi with no health issues. Doc asked me to lose 15#'s that put me at 40 bmi. But I was also told if I weighed more than my surgery goal weight on day of surgery that the surgery will be cancelled. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

    Pre-surgery weight loss

I use my premiere protien shakes as cream for my coffee. My coffee is decaf. Have you considered trying the half decaf and half caffeine coffee for awhile? I had only been having a diet carbonated drink at dinner for about a half of year before I decided to start on this weight loss journey. Carbs are my downfall. I have 2 more classes left then I hope to be approved for surgery. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

    Weight Watchers

I also was on WW. I lost 60#'s. Had gained 40 of it back. Since Sept. I have been counting calories. No caffeine, little booze high Protein, at least 64 oz of Water and have lost 20#'s. I use myfitnesspal and I stay between 1000 and 1200 calories a day. It was hard at first to think about calories instead of points. We'll have to always keep track of calories and protien after surgery. My suggestion would be to start doing that now. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

    Confused about the pains!

I expect to be in a lot of pain. I will take my medication as prescribed and walk then walk some more. I had my gallbladder removed 2 years ago. It was a very painful experience for me. But even knowing this I am looking forward to getting WLS. I know the pain will only last for awhile and that it will be worth it. If I luck out and don't experience a lot of pain that will be awesome. But I'm not letting the fear of being in pain stop me. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T337A using the BariatricPal App

    My pizza alternative

I haven't tried this yet. I think it's from pintrest. Using cupcake pan, place 2 slices Canadian bacon around the inside cup. Put whatever sauce you like inside. Top with your choice of toppings and bake. It's a crust less pizza Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

    What a joke

I had my anxiety meds adjusted in Aug. I've had to wait 3 months to be sure I was stable at new dosage. Tomorrow I have a phone consult with psychologist and am hoping to be cleared for surgery. I know how anxious you are to get your surgery . I was/am too. But you want to be in a stable mental place. The changes after surgery are going to be a rollercoaster ride, emotionally and psycally. Your PCP is looking out for what is best for you. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

    Thyroid levels off

I am experiencing the exact thing. I have an underactive thyroid. 9/1 my TSH was 4.04. Kaiser wants you to be around 4. I had my thyroid checked 9/1 and it is now up to 5.96. My PCP felt fine with me having surgery at this level. Surgeon wants it around 4.0 so my PCP has upped my thyroid medication. I've reached and passed my surgery goal weight of 227 (as of today 222.7) got clearance from Nutritionist and am hoping psychologist clears me on the 17th. I was told that it takes 3 months for thyroid medication to work. I sure hope I don't have to wait that long to get my surgery. I plan on contacting surgeon after I talk to psychologist on the 17th. I hope your thyroid doesn't slow the process down for you. Good luck Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T337A using the BariatricPal App
