Conratulations for making the decision to change your life. I was banded on 1-7=08 and have lost 30 lbs. I am going for my first fill end of the week. The liquid stage is tough but hang in there. Concentrate on the positive changes you can make by adding exercise each day. It is like a self-fulfilling prophecy... the more you lose the more things you want to do to continue to lose. It is a win win situation. Welcome.

I think we all feel pretty much the same. I ate everything that was not nailed down prior to my surgery. I did however remain committed to my goal of getting healthy and losing weight. If we could do it without the band we would have. It will be my gatekeeper forever. It will help me lose the weight but more importantly to keep it off. I was banded on 1-7-08 and have not had a fill yet. To date I have lost 30 lbs. I exercise 5 days a week without exception. I log every bite and stay below 1000 cals a day. I am getting my first fill next week and can hardly wait because I am hungry, but will succeed no matter what. When I made the decision to be banded I made the decision to change my life. But until that day came I was like a kid in a candy store. Enjoy the food now but once you are banded remember why you put yourself through this. Good luck.

Keeping it a secret?
Socalbandit replied to Fluffy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
In no way do I feel like I am keeping a dirty little secret. I just know the attitude of so many people is that this is the easy way out.......due to their ignorance. I won't lie if someone asks me outright but I also do not feel the need to tell acquaintances all my private business. I have literally been working my ass off without the help of a fill yet so to each his own. My friend felt different and told everyone. I just do not want to be scrutinized by people who don't have a clue what this procedure is all about. -
Well congrats on that. It won't be much longer for you. I was banded 1-7-8 so am pretty new to all this. I have not had my first fill yet but will next week. I am down 30 lbs. now. I am so glad i made the decision to have this done. I feel so much better just losing 30lbs. I still have about 76 to go but now I know for the first time in my life that I will get there. The surg was a breeze. Best wishes to you.

Keeping it a secret?

I totally agree with you. I had my surgery on 1-7-08. I have not had a fill yet but have totally changed things about myself. If someone asks me I just say I am limiting my calories to 1000 a day and working out 5 days a week which is totally truthful. Anyone that says this is the easy way out is uninformed. This is the hardest thing I have ever done without the help of the band. I figure if I can be satisfied with this small amount of food without a fill, when I do get a fill it should be a piece of cake.(ooh to have a piece of cake) I have lost 30 lbs. in about 8 weeks. We do not know all the private details of everyone else's life so why should we feel obligated to share everything about ourselves. -
I have found the Hostess 100 calorie packs are really tasty with not a lot of sugar. They are small but they satisfy the need for sweet. I do not have one everyday though. I had surgery on 1-7--8 and have lost 27lbs. I have not had a fill yet. I limit myself to 900 cals a day and if I don't have extra calories available I just don't get the dessert. I plan what I am going to eat the day before and that helps me stick to my limits. Keep up the good work, you will get there.
