    Spicy foods!

Hey everybody! I LOVED spicy foods before the surgery. I still love the taste, but spicy foods upset my stomach REALLY badly!!! I'm 2 months out of surgery now. How long after the surgery was it that you were able to comfortably stomach spicy foods? I know some have said they weren't every able to stomach spicy foods again. Spicy foods!

Oh dang!!! I guess it'll just take more time for me. I've even tried mildly spicy things but it still bothers my stomach. I made sure to rule out other factors like acidity, high fat, and high sugar so I know it isn't those things. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. I was sleeved 3 weeks ago. I started off 200lbs and am down to 180 The progress does slow down, but when it does that's when you start walking and putting a bit more physical effort into it. That makes the weight continue to drop. Also, don't forget about all the health benefits! Preventing heart disease, reversing weight gain, leaving and avoiding obesity, I could go on and on! I know it doesn't seem like 5-10lbs is much, but the closer you get to your goal, the better you'll feel. Believe me! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Pulled muscle has me worried

Hey, things like this happen to everyone! Don't beat yourself up! Just set your mind to recovering that muscle and get right back to where you were. As for your family, they should support you no matter what! The journey will be accompanied by obstacles, and unfortunately this is one that you have to overcome. Don't let it discourage you. You got this!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Tea Drinkers!

Do you mean the looseleaf teas? I use looseleaf all the time, they have no calories, sugar, fat, sodium, anything. ONLY downside is that some of the darker teas or black teas (earl gray, english Breakfast, etc.) may have some caffeine content. Personally, my doctor told me that caffeine is a no no, but if your doctor approves of it, have at it! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Sleeping position

It may be more comfortable to be in a recliner or something of the like. Something that can elevate your torso like the hospital beds do so as to relieve pressure from your stomach and back Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Post Op w/surgery 8/17.

I had my surgery 8/8 and also had a large hiatal hernia repaired. I would say the gurgling is probably from the gasses used in surgery to enlarge your stomach for the operation. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. I am a 21-yr-old female who is 2 weeks post op. I didn't think of anything like the sleeve until my mom brought it to my attention. My mom works in recovery at a weight loss surgical center, which was where I had my surgery. She had seen countless patients come out of this procedure and recover. She met surgeons and doctors and patients and nurses who all saw, operated on, recovered from, and cared for those of us who had gastric surgeries. I have struggled with my weight for years. Constantly gaining, rarely losing, and consistently working, fighting, and trying for weight loss that I could never achieve. My mom sat me down and told me that she knows how hard I have tried and worked to change my weight. She gave recognition to my efforts, and also to my struggles, acknowledging that I was frustrated and had lost hope of losing weight or getting it under control. Then she told me about her experiences and what she saw and what she knows. Then she asked me if I'd like to look into that and see what it would be like (to which I replied yes). After that she told me that she would be there to support me through my entire journey. Doctor appointments, pre op dieting, the surgery, initial recovery, post op dieting, exercise, everything. And she has followed through and kept her word to a T. I can say from personal experience, bringing it about to your daughter in the same way my mom brought it to mine, if you feel the need to bring it to her attention, could help you. But I can definitely say that encouragement, acknowledgement of her struggles and efforts, and support regardless of her decision are definitely important to maintaining a stable relationship and successfully communicating to her that you'd only be mentioning the suggestion out of concern, love, and longing for your daughter's healthy life and future. Almost 1 week post op!

I'm at my 2 week mark tomorrow and my dr. Told me to walk but keep it easy. I'm not sure about others, but I lose energy pretty quickly and can't walk for too long yet. I'd say if your dr. clears it and you're comfortable with it, go for it. Just take it slow so you can figure out how your body will react Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
