To scale or not to scale

I have read before that using for an obese person having had weight lose surgery is like a diabetic having to check their blood sugar. I really liked the comparison because we do need the scale to check in on how we're doing with our condition. I do understand how hard it it though. I struggle like you are. If I find it's getting bad I put the scale away for a little bit (like in the closet of another room). Not sure if this helps at all, good luck to you.

    LOOKING FOR ONTARIO PALS

    Same here :-)
  4. I will be getting a loan and trying to get some covered through insurance.
  5. Ohip will cover a panniculectomy (hanging belly skin removal) if you have documented skin rashes and other issues associated with it. Not sure about other types of surgery being covered. But I'd certainly try!!

    Depo shot

Hi there, I don't know exactly, but I'm on depo and had surgery in Oct (RNY), I've lost 85lbs since surgery. Things have slowed down the last 6 weeks, but still moving and body changing. I don't exercise very much as I have a two year old to run around after and generally just keep busy. I eat about 1300 cals a day. My only advise is maybe you're not eating enough as you said you "hardly eat much" and exercise 3 times a week. You could always go off the depo and see what happens. I've been off and on it a couple times and never really noticed a difference. But I'm sure it effects everyone differently. Good luck

    The long wait.....

From my experience, 'healthy' people understand the concept of eating regularly to support their bodily functions, approximately 3-5 times a day. Maybe you should google the notion of 'metabolism'? Also, I'd be including all those protein bars/drinks as a meal anyway. But your going to be better off replacing those protein supplements with actual food.

Looking for a Gastric Bypass Mentor / Buddy

Hi there, I had RNY Oct 3, 2016 and doing great. It is had at first. Salad wasn't on my allowed list till 3-4 months out as the greens and raw veg can be hard to suggest I think. I know the foods are boring right now, but give yourself a pat on the back for getting this far. I struggled with nausea in the evening the first 4-5 months and still have some trouble feeling tires from time to time. My dietitian said 3 months of feeling tired is totally normal and to not push it. Any questions let me know :-)
  14. Ditto to this. Plus must of us are currently fitting a 'tight' ____ size and probably the next size up would fit better. So when we lose that first size, it's almost 2. And like this person said. Plus sizes are much different than lower sizes. Keep up the good work! You're doing great!

    The long wait.....

Hi there, just a quick tip, but one meal a day is not good for your metabolism. You should be eating at least 3 meals a day to keep your body fuelled up. Good luck to you.

    Inner thigh lift

OMG...this literally made me LOL!! That is good news, cause I swear my thighs look like a have a second vagina Not that you can see the first one anyway cause my panni hangs down so far. Really can't wait to get this off of me too. But another 30 to goal!!
  17. Thank you for this!! Exactly what I needed. Xoxo. And you look awesome!
  18. It's been 6 months since my Band to Bypass surgery and I feel amazing!! Down 72lbs and a new hair cut! This is me in the summer 2 months before surgery and yesterday while trying on a bridesmaid dress for a friend's wedding in sept. I ordered it 2 sizes smaller [emoji51] Hope that's not too aggressive, but the same dress was VERY tight just a month ago.

how do you know if your band has slipped????

This mine nothing happened, like the flu, just started having symptoms like your. Good would get stock after only 1-2 bits. I'd be in so much pain and then up it would come and the pain would be gone. Sometimes the vomiting was very violent and painful. I could vomit 3-4 times just to get through a meal. Or I would have to eat so incredibly slow (like 45-60 mins a meal). I just knew it had slipped and after an endoscope that is what they found. Good luck!

    Bridesmaid dress...

I am currently in this situation. I had surgery in Oct last year. Bride wanted to order dresses in Jan for wedding in sept (I'm surprised they can wait till July to order, but I'm in Canada and maybe that is why it takes 3 months for them to come in). Anyway they ordered everyone else's and held mine till the last minute (ok because we are in alternating colours). In Jan I tried on a dress I thought I would like, but couldn't tell because I couldn't get the sample on!! In March it fit tight! In April it was loose! I've been losing 7-10lbs a month (total lose 75lbs). The dress lady suggested to order in 3 sizes smaller as we are still 6 months away and should easily lose another 30-45lbs. Hoping it will fit in sept! But they can alter 3 sizes up or down, so I'm told.

    Not a patient

My dietitian said that even at 3 MONTHS post op I should be taking it easy. Walking yes, when energy is good (which was not till 2 months post op) and then the gym once a week. Weights not till 8-12 weeks I believe. Maybe you should do some research?? Just a thought. As someone else said, maybe just play some cards, listen, watch tv with her...keep her company. Oh and by the way, I also googled recipes while I was sitting on my butt resting as I was told to do!
  22. Coming up to the 70lb loss mark and considering cutting my hair. Not just a trim but taking it all off. Anyone else cut their hair dramatically after weight loss? If you have pictures would love to see them. This is just a fun chat about what you did to your hair after weight loss. Maybe you died it dramatically or totally change your style. Would love to hear from you.
  23. So I did it...cut it off and now looking for a new job too!!
  24. Hi there, 6 months here. I eat about 3oz of meat and then some veggies and 1/4 -1/2 cup of rice/pasta. Sometimes no carbs and more veg, depends on how I feel. I've lost 73 now. But I would suggest weighing the food to be sure of the amount.
