    Emotional day 2 post op

Sorry to hear...the gas pains are a killer!! Walking, heating pad, Tylenol for gas pain and sugar free halls for your sore throat. I had band to bypass oct 3. Feeling a million times better today :-) The shoulder pain when I got the band was truly unbearable. I totally understand. Hope you're feeling better soon! My story from lap band to gastric bypass

Sorry hit the wrong button. It's a long process but will be totally worth it. I don't regret my band. It helped me when I needed it. I do regret not seeking help sooner. I feel your pain. And know it will get better :-) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My story from lap band to gastric bypass

Hi ShrinkingMeme! Wow your story sounds very similar. I got my band aug 2011. Did very well for the first year. The company I went through, private pay, went bankrupt. Was still doing well the next year. Went from 282 to 210. Meet my husband and put on a couple pounds, lol! Then a year later we we married and then pregnant right away! While pregnant I started to get very bad issues with food being stuck. Just dealt with it for 18 months eating ice cream and whatever I could get done. Back up to 290, my highest weight! Sept last year I had enough and talked to family doctor. He referred me to Ontario bariatric network to have reversion to bypass covered by OHIP. They were able to unfill my band, which can I never had done...no where to go. So finally able to eat again! My surgery is Oct 4 and totally nervous they will only take the band out and then I'll have to wait for bypass. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Pre-Op diet Day 3

I found it really took a week to figure out how to space out the shakes that was going to work for me. My pre-op is 4 shakes a day and basically nothing else. I go to bed early! Keep busy and just do my best. It's really hard, but only temporary. You can do it! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Apps

Hi there, I'm rather new to this site. I'm having surgery October 3. I just wondered what other apps ppl use to help with health and surgery? I use this, my fitness pal and run keeper. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. I'm also having surgery in Toronto. OBN believes RNY is the gold standard in WLS and unless some medical reason comes up they will always do RNY over sleeve. No patient option with OHIP paying. I heard of you have Celiac they will do sleeve. Also, like the other person said. They can't know for sure before they open you up, so you could pay for sleeve and still end up with RNY. RNY really does have better data that supports long term weight lose. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Cheated on Pre Op Diet

Maybe some of us just need to reach out to the others that have the same struggles. Years of bad habits can not be changed with the flip of the switch. Oh and BTW, some pre-op diets, like mine, are not meant for ketosis because they have too many carbs. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Cheated on Pre Op Diet

You're not the only one. I have been cheating more than that Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. I will be honest and tell you I am struggling to make changes too!! It's hard, that's why we're choosing to have WLS. If we could do it ourselves we would have already. Surgery can give you the boost to make the big changes. Just try to make some little changes up until then. More Water, cutting back here and there. And I can speak from experience. I am a band to bypass. My band was successful for two years, then it slipped out of position. The clinic I went through went bankrupt a year after I got it. I've struggled with the band for two years and will be having conversion surgery on Oct 3. I get into these details because I was not good with my pre-op diet the first time around either and still did very well. I still have two weeks of pre-op diet and I vow to make more changes. Just try your best. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Painful Eating

My post-op allows these in the pureed food stage in weeks 3 and 4. But they specifically say: soft poached egg, fish (moist and mashed with a fork). Cottage cheese was allowed in weeks 1 and 2. I'd call your surgeons office and get direction from them. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Ugh

Thank you for posting this!! I'm on day 3 of my 3 week all liquid pre-op diet and also hate the taste of sweeteners; artificial or otherwise! I literally just guzzle the drink and chase it with some tea or Water. Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm probably more struggling with the hunger in the afternoon. Need to spread out my shakes better to stay satisfied. I've only had 1 good day out of 3. Feeling a little bummed about that. But changes take time. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    The cure for sore butt

I went to a physiotherapist for an issue that sounds the same. Had it for a year! She told me my butt was weak. Started doing exercises, they helped a little. But it went away on its own I think. Not sure if that is helpful at all. Maybe your butt needs time to adjust Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Pre op liquid diet

The 'ruke' at my clinic is a week for every 100lbs. I'm 292 so I got 3 weeks. Today is day 2 and I cheated yesterday But I recommitted today and made some changes. Things are better today. I think any lose during this stage is good. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
