  1. My surgeon refused to set a goal and now I understand why. Everyone is different
  2. I am 6 months out and I have the same problem and it is self inflicted. I still have bad habits of eating too much and/or too fast. I am glad it hurts so it reminds me to make better choices

    Puréed foods

I find pureed food disgusting. I tried it a few times and gave up. I went with refried beans, mashed potatoes and some cream soup from the barattic pal store. Filled in the rest with protein drinks.
  5. Well said. I kept it a secret until a week after I got back to work then people started asking questions. I found it liberating to share my story and have gotten much support. I don't know what they say behind my back but I don't care.
  6. I am experiencing the exact same thing. I am going to trust the process and the big picture and not the scale.
  7. I smell strange smells and tastes. Very inconsistent but something triggers them but I have not figured it out. Had the metal taste out if no where yesterday.

    Lightheaded and tingling fingers/arms?

Not sure that I can answer your questions but I also am 10 days out. I also experience light-headedness if I move too fast or get up too quickly. Even just walking my dog can bring it on at the unexpected moment. While I don't know for sure what it is my guess is that we are not getting enough protein in and that we are just having to readjust to our new bodies. I don't have any thoughts on the tingling fingers. It sounds like you and I both need to concentrate on more proteins and fluids. I'm struggling with it also.
  10. I am less than a week out and don't regret it so far. It is going much better than I thought, no problems at all. So I can answer some of your questions. No regrets, I am a little crabby but time will tell. I have been as heavy as 325 and lost 100 pounds about 20 years ago and yes your man hood gets "bigger". It's not that anything gets larger rather the fat at the base of your unit shrinks exposing more of it making it appear larger so you don't bottom out so quickly. I hope I don't get in trouble for saying that.
  11. There is no simple Yes moment. You have the opportunity to get up off the gurney even as you're waiting to go into the surgery. I had those feelings and thoughts but I put my eyes on the end goal and trusted in the Lord. It's all the things that I want to be able to do that I used to be able to that are driving me forward. It's knowing that my body hasn't failed me yet but if I stay the course that I've been on it most certainly will. It's in my brother being hardly able to walk due to his size or my mom who is enormous and has diabetes that helps me drive the decision also. I don't judge them I just don't want to follow that path. I recognize my weakness to control my eating habits and simply want another tool to help me past it. This isn't going to fix it, it's going to help me. I appreciate the love and support of my wife who didn't want me to do this but understood that it was my decision and what my long-term goals were. I didn't want to be a burden to her as we age together.
  12. I just woke up this morning and I did not take any pain medicine or nausea medicine before I went to bed or during the night. So I would say that there's some progress there. I'm not trying to be a hero but just trying to understand my body's needs. I need to also sort out some strange smells that I'm sensing. I'm wondering if my new body is changing in other ways such as a sense of smell. I ate some Jell-O yesterday much too quickly and discovered the awful feeling of putting in too much too fast. The pain lasted about 10 minutes before it passed. It just happened thoughtlessly. I'm going to have to remember that. I've been able to sip about two ounces of broth with no troubles. My doctor prescribed Heparin shots that I have to give myself twice a day as a blood thinner for a week. It's mentally challenging but no big deal once you just go for it and jab the needle in your stomach. I was able to watch a YouTube video of the entire procedure that was posted a few years ago last night. I certainly couldn't do that before the procedure on myself but found it extremely fascinating and helpful being able to watch it after the fact. It certainly puts my mind at ease on how the whole operation is done and the reliability of it. It's probably a guy thing. I hope these posts help anybody else as people who have posted in the past have help me get to this point. I'm happy to share as others have shared for me. Still feeling blessed.

Young sleever , any like minded folks?

I just had my sleeve done on Thursday and I only plan on taking the following week off also. Working at a desk I'm hoping I can pull this off but I will let you know. Now that I'm on the other side of the surgery I think I'm going to be able to. I also had fears when I was laying in the bed before surgery and wanted to get up and walk out but I stuck it out and it was not nearly as bad as I thought. Have a long road ahead of me but the scariest part is behind me. You can do, it just keep your mind on the long-term goal
