Yay congrats! I had surgery on Monday, too! Like everyone said, plans differ but I have tried Greek yogurt, ricotta cheese, pudding, Italian ice..just make sure you have everything low/nonfat and no sugar. It is pretty scary that you go home not knowing what to eat. A nurse and the nutritionist from my program called today to see how I'm doing and what I'm eating/drinking. Pretty excited, but also really nervous. I'm doing a lot of going back and forth in my head. I'm going through with it no matter what, but of course there's a little devil on my shoulder. Today I started the pre-op diet, which is not liquid only. I can't get full, so I keep thinking about food, but I'm sticking to it. I had to stop birth control for the surgery, and I had my period two weeks ago. I got it back again since hormones are out of whack and am bummed I'll have it through surgery. Any post op people have any advice? Everyone keep your fingers crossed it all goes well! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I had surgery Monday and am home resting too. So much nausea and pain from the gas when I woke up from surgery. Also have been sleeping a LOT. Congratulations! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I'm home from surgery. Worst part was waking up and that awful pain on my chest + nausea. Thankful for awesome nurses and that magic button of drugs I could hit. They found a hiatal hernia while in there and fixed it at the same time, so I have two extra incisions and a little more pain than usual. I slept a LOT. And when I got home yesterday, I took a shower and slept from 4 pm until 4 this morning and had a little nap today. Took a lot out of me. Day one I couldn't even feel the incisions, just the nausea and chest pain. Come day 2 and having to get up to use the bathroom was painful and still is. My period was just about to end going in to surgery, but now the blood is extremely red and heavy. I called the surgeon to be sure that's okay but she reminded me my hormones are out of whack and my body just had a serious trauma. I will be fine. These incisions suck though. I can't even bend over to wipe. Sorry for the TMI. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My surgery is Monday. Starting today I had to start the diet we go home on. I just do this today and tomorrow, no liquid diet. Protein shakes, low fat milk, cottage and ricotta cheese, sugar free pudding and Jello.. I honestly wouldn't mind this diet if I felt full. Anxious to feel satisfied because all I can think about is food. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I have surgery one week from today, and I kind of went crazy this weekend..not only because of the holiday, but I just wanted to get in some of my faves before surgery. I know I can drop some lbs before the surgery, but am afraid I won't get down to what they got me at my last weigh in. Anyone go through this? I don't have liquid diet until next weekend, and I'm afraid they would postpone my surgery or something. I feel so stupid, because this means so much to me. Gaining weight pre-op?
sarajeano replied to sarajeano's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you Janushka. I am hoping I can get these added lbs off before next week, which I think I can..just disappointed in myself for doing this. I would hope my program that I am going through wouldn't postpone it (not the hospital). Thank you for your kind words. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Spin Off thread: do people comment often?
sarajeano replied to finding_onederland's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sometimes even close family or friends that you think will support you will say you're taking the easy way out. My doctor told me if anyone says that to me, I should say "yes I did". If someone broke their arm and needed a cast, would you think they took the easy way out? Sure, because there was a problem with a solution and you took it. Surgery Date set..... but still not sure
sarajeano replied to 67GTONUT's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My doctor told me that I don't have to justify this surgery to anyone. That it is not a weakness..he said if anyone tells me I took the easy way out, I should tell them "yes I did." He said if someone breaks their arm and they put a cast on, would you say they took the easy way out? Yes, because there was a solution to the problem and you took it.
