    Thought on buying clothes

I'd get it. Have fun. Dropping sizes and getting new clothes is one of my favorite parts of this journey!!

My First Real Test, 6 Weeks Post-Op

I travel a lot for work. Before I started my six month pre-op diet, plane drinking was one of my favorite pastimes. But, like you, not needing a seatbelt extender, having more space in the seat (even in first class), and a functional tray table is SO much better! Enjoy your trip!

    Back to work

I am finding the daily Protein and Fluid intake to be a full-time job in itself.

It's official! I have been sleeved!

The first few days will suck, but you'll rebound quickly. (I was feeling MUCH better by the third day post-op.) Good luck and have a safe rest of your trip.

    Back to work

My surgery was September 28. I am on medical leave and return to work on November 14. My job is about 60% travel/40% work from home.

    Noodles

How did I miss this thread all day? Wow!!
  10. Put unflavored Protein powder into broth. That works pretty well. Also, I like the Isopure vanilla No-Carb mixed with Water.

    Rave.. that made me laugh

    Cool moment!!
  12. Wow. I can't even have eggs until Day 29 (October 27) and I can't have chicken until like November 10!

    Tired

I have been pretty blessed in that department. I have been getting in 64 oz of Water since Day 2 post-op, (and I have gotten in 80 oz the past few days) and I have been above my Protein goals since the first day home. I must be healing pretty rapidly, but who knows...

    Tired

Yes, but since I won't eat sugar free pudding or yogurt, it is pretty much strained cream of chicken soup with unflavored protein powder, along with water, a protein shake in the morning and some sugar free jello sometimes.

    Tired

September 28. Today is my 16th day post-op. Part of it is that I am still on liquids. The foods that were added in Week 3 (which began yesterday) are all carb-laden (oatmeal, cream of wheat, 1/2 ripe banana, baked sweet potato). I did low carb during my six-month pre-op diet obligation and lost 99 pounds before the surgery, so I won't let my carbs go above 20 grams per day. That is keeping me on liquids for an extra week. Next Thursday, I can add in cottage cheese, cheese sticks, green Beans, and zucchini, so I am hoping that will help me out in the energy department...

    Tired

I get really tired, too. Sometimes I try to do too much and it catches up with me. And yesterday, I had to have some blood work done for the NP at surgeon's office. It wiped me out for pretty much the rest of the day.
  17. We could go on with this metaphor for days. This board could be (and should be) like intervention when initial instruction didn't take (or students weren't ready for that instruction). It shouldn't be the initial instruction itself, and it shouldn't enable people to keep making the same mistakes or having the same misconceptions over and over again. Sigh. Very cool you were a math teacher. I started my career in the high school math classroom. :-)
  18. Resist your head's message :-)
  19. True, but when I was teaching, I didn't want the average grade to be below a C, and I didn't want a large majority of the class to fail. If that happened, then I didn't do my job very well. I don't think the issue is about people asking questions to gain knowledge. The issue is that they are asking ridiculous questions that anyone that was going to pursue this type of procedure and commit to the lifelong changes they have to make wouldn't be asking. To re-link this to the grades metaphor, if the people who have recently asked about eating pizza, tacos, ice cream, pork chops, Pasta, rice, candy, etc. a mere days after surgery or the people who have asked about getting hammered during their pre-op diet or right after surgery were the students, then they more than failed this test and their surgeon and his/her staff should re-teach the unit or consider leaving the classroom.
  20. I love Duffy's! I have family in Stuart, FL, and we have always gone to the one downtown when we visit them.
  21. That is amazing and inspiring. Congratulations and best wishes as you continue your journey!

    Dried fruit?

I looked on my plan and dried fruits are on the "avoid forever" list. I've never been a big fan of dried fruit anyway, so it wasn't really on my radar screen for re-entry like eggs and meat. Interesting.

    Rice?

We bought some of the cauliflower rice at Trader Joe's for my partner to try. We'll see what he thinks of it...

    Insurance

I started the process in February with my PCP. My first surgeon appointment was March 3, and my final surgeon appointment was August 10. I had my medical clearance appointment with my PCP on August 23. It took her about a week to get all the results in and fax a clearance letter to the surgeon. Once that happened, they filed immediately with the insurance. It was approved 2 weeks later, and they then scheduled the surgery for September 28 immediately after approval. All-in-all, it was about a 7 month process.
