    Pre op diet

I have had no secrets from my team pre-op or post-op. I would have been freaked out to know that the person who was cutting into me made assumptions based on faulty or incomplete information because I wasn't honest with him. But that's me. You'll probably get responses from people saying that it's no big deal, but if it were me, I'd tell them.

    Regular Diet

Week 8 is the last week of food stages on my plan, so the short answer would be Week 9; however, there are several things you can't have until much later on my plan (steak at 6 months for example) and some things that you are to avoid forever (doughy things, dried fruits, Pasta, rice, etc.). I personally am following low carb (even as I go through the food stages), so Week 9 and beyond won't look much different than Weeks 6-8 for me. This is my plan, of course, and it doesn't take long browsing on here to see that everyone's plan is different. I'd reach out to your nutritionist and ask. Good luck!

    Thanksgiving

I'll probably eat 2 oz of turkey and 1 oz of green beans at the actual meal. The rest of the day I'll alternate the things (cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, salmon, string cheese, etc.) that I eat on a normal day.
  4. I took off 6 weeks. I got sleeved on September 28 and I go back on November 14.
  5. So the incision inside my belly button has been oozing since yesterday. I talked to the doctor on call and I now have to go into the office on Monday for them to look at it. I suppose I can't complain too much since my recovery has been pretty seamless, but I hope it is a minor issue...

I hope so, too, and am glad you called. So rare around here.

It's just an infection, I'm sure. Pretty commonplace to have at least one have some infection, or possibly a seroma. A week of antibiotics, probably. Not a huge cause for worry.

    Does the gas ever stop?

Mine has gotten better over time, but it is still there. (I haven't had to eat in the company of anyone but my partner yet. Your post made me think about that...)

    What apps do you use.

I take a similar approach to @ except I use a word document on my computer. I track all the macros and use myfitnesspal (and other online resources) to get the information I need. I also record measurements and weight once per week on Mondays.
  8. I totally get it! Congratulations!!

    Best decision!

That's awesome ! (And a great thing for those newly sleeved to hear...)

    Stall at 2.5 weeks out.

It happens to just about everyone. (As @@hudjess mentioned, there are TONS of threads to check out.) Just keep meeting or exceeding your Water and Protein goals. Your body is catching up with itself, and the weight will begin to come off again soon. My three-week stall lasted about 2 weeks. You probably want to stay off the scale during this time if it is going to upset you. Good luck!

    Feeling shocked

Good job! Keep up the hard work!
  14. Today, Day 32 post-op, I got in all of my Protein with NO PROTEIN SHAKES! I was able to add fish today (salmon specifically), so that did the trick. And I got to 900 calories for the first time. It took me 14 hours of eating and drinking to get everything in and account for the 30 minutes before/after eating "no water" periods. I got in 910 calories, 17 carbs, and 90 grams of protein. I'm sure there will be days when I have to have Protein shakes for one reason or another, but I am going to Celebrate the fact that I am finally in a place where I won't have to rely on them every day! Onward!!

Here it is - my newbie post

I have been taking an eat-8-times-a-day approach. With the exception of the 2 times a day I have cottage cheese, my "meals" are usually no more than 2 oz (the cottage cheese is 1/2 cup which is about 4 oz). I get more full from the 3 - 2oz salmon "meals" every day that I do anything else (scrambled egg with cheese, cottage cheese, string cheese), but not to the point of being uncomfortable. Like the other said, I'd use the Protein shakes to get your protein for now. I was just able to ditch them last Sunday when I was able to add in fish. That made me be able to get it all in from food, but it takes all day (usually 12-14 hours) of working at it to make it all happen. Hang in there. You're doing great. The stall sucks, but it will pass. Mine did, and I know that yours will, too!

    Harder than I thought....

My scale isn't moving either. I'm just silently screaming at it knowing I shouldn't be paying attention to the scale right now. I feel like I am a fairly even-tempered guy, but I was about to throw our scale off of the terrace by the end of the second week of my "three week stall." But, it finally passed, and I have been in a free-fall ever since. I bet that's going to happen for both of you before too long as well! Now, if I can just get to my next milestone before the stall rears its ugly head again!! :-) Hang in there!
  17. I took a bath today. Like soak in the tub bath. That's the first time I have been able to do that in at least 8 years! I wouldn't want to do it every day, but it was a nice change...

    Harder than I thought....

I started to rebound on Day 3 and it got better steadily every day after that. Glad to hear you're improving. Getting out and around (with ample breaks as needed) was a key to me feeling better.
  20. I get about 90 grams per day -- all food. Today is Day 37 post-op for me.
  21. blizair09

    3 week stall?

During the third and fourth weeks post-op, I lost a total of 2 pounds. I've been losing 1-1.5 pounds a day since. It will pick up. Just keep following your plan and meet your Water and Protein goals. The body is a complicated machine and sometimes it needs time to catch up with things.

    Louisiana Coverage, help!

What are the choices available to you during your open enrollment? I'd just call the insurance companies directly and seek out the information. But I bet most of them are going to have a 3-6 month pre-op diet program requirement. (You never know, though.)
  23. So you don't have a nutritionist available to you through your surgeon's practice?
  24. You should follow the plan your surgeon laid out for you. On my plan, scrambled eggs didn't come in until Week 4 post-op, and something like turkey sausage wouldn't be allowed until after Week 8. At Day 8 post-op, I was still on clear liquids.
  25. Glad it worked itself out.
