When to start logging food?
blizair09 replied to StephanieS0208's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I started logging everything the day I began my six-month pre-op diet in March. And I have continued that post-op. -

Pre Op liquid Diet Failure!

I would tell the surgeon what happened as soon as possible. -
This is getting ridiculous
blizair09 replied to BriLynGan's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Are you still journaling everything you are eating every day? How many carbs are you eating in a day? Is there anything in particular that you are intaking that you feel might be causing the stall (e.g., alcohol, sugar, not enough Protein, etc.)? -
I was terrified, but it was really very simple. Once they gave me the stuff, I was out in 30 seconds, and next thing I knew, I was waking up in recovery. Now, I felt like hell, but the "being under" part wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be.

Anyone else have to concentrate on getting down fluids?
blizair09 replied to show1980's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with @ella37. Sip, sip sip and try different temps and see what works best for you. The first week or two, I drank Powerade Zero rather than Water because it worked better for me. Then I transitioned to mostly water and one 16 oz glass of decaf iced tea (with 1 stevia) each day. I rebounded with that quickly. I'm 46 days post-op today, and I drink semi-normally now. Good luck! -
To be honest, I'm probably going to follow the same daily plan that day that I follow every other day.
-
Stay positive; stay on plan, and continue to meet your Protein and Water goals. You'll start losing again. I had my stall right on schedule during Week 3. It lasted 2 weeks, and I have lost almost 20 pounds in the 3 weeks since. The body will do things in its time. We just have to be patient, follow the plan, and let it work! Best wishes!

Post-op, Time off work
blizair09 replied to beaker27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took off 6 weeks. I was sleeved September 28, and I go back to work tomorrow (November 14). -
Ugh. Not going to lie, today has been a struggle
blizair09 replied to simpsongrad's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just say no! :-) -
What does your plan say? That should answer your question.

Your surgeon and I would get along great. My people spent weeks trying to push carbs on me until I finally got pointed about it said it wasn't going to happen...

Every.single.day! It has gotten better as time has gotten on (I'm 46 days post-op today), but I still struggle with some fatigue each day.

Vacation after surgery?
blizair09 replied to misschrissylynn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There's not a definitive answer to this question since it depends on so many factors that differ from person to person. It would require a great deal of planning, but I think it could be done. It doesn't really matter where you are as long as you are getting the requisite amount of Protein and Water in each day and that you exercise appropriately. -
What does your plan say? On my plan, that would not have been allowed...

Pouch Reset Attempt for 4.5 years post-sleeve

This really is more a mental game than a physical one. Thank you for your post, and I wish you all the best as you move forward. -
Stop when full, or push on to get required protein in - confused

What is your NUT's rationale for asking you to only eat 3 meals per day? I eat 8 different times per day, and I am only eating 2-3 oz at a time. The 3 meals a day mandate seems really bizarre to me... -
What does your plan say? Cream of wheat was on my plan beginning at Day 14. Grits are on the "avoid forever" list since they expand.
-
I admire your courage. Stay the course and you will find the success you are looking for. All my best!
-
Actually, I was/am quite the opposite. I have always been proud that I found the strength, grit, and perseverance to seek out a path, including a gastric sleeve surgery, that would lead me to a healthy weight. I have been open with anyone and everyone all along, and I dare anyone to say one out-of-line to me about it.

I was walking about 5 miles a day pre-op. I was able to begin serious walking (defined as more than just walking up and down the hall in my building) about a week-post. I started at 2 miles, and I have worked my way up to 3 miles over time. I think the exercise pre-op really helped me in the long run.

Cottage cheese (with or without sugar-free preserves mixed in) is a good choice.
-
How many ounces are you eating at a time? Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App I eat 1 egg twice per day. I eat 2 oz of each meat accompanied by 1 oz of green beans each time (3 "meals" total). I eat 1 string cheese twice per day, and 4 oz of cottage cheese twice per day. Are you still drinking protein drinks, or getting your protein just from your food. Also how much can you eat at a time? Sent from my SM-G550T1 using the BariatricPal App I haven't had to have Protein shakes since Week 6.

In terms of solid foods, I was able to add well-cooked green Beans, cottage cheese, and string cheese at Week 4. Week 5 I added scrambled eggs; Week 6, I added salmon, and Week 7, I added chicken, ground beef, and ground turkey. Right now, I eat scrambled eggs once per day, cottage cheese twice per day, string cheese twice per day, and chicken, ground beef, and salmon once per day each. I am getting between 800-900 calories per day, less than 20 carbs per day, and around 90 grams of Protein per day.
