    No more shakes!

I have been able to get all of my Protein from food since Halloween (easy day to remember). I was SO THANKFUL to be able to kick the Protein shakes to the curb!

    Meat hurts

I think I would shoot myself if I had trouble with meat!
  3. Ask your surgeon to be sure, but I was cleared for more strenuous exercise at 8 weeks.

    10 Things Successful People Do

    So true! Thanks for posting.

    I've lost over 30 pounds!

Yay! Congratulations and keep up the good work!
  6. It has just been a week since your surgery. Your body has been through a huge trauma, and is trying to recover. Also the fluids and gas they pumped into you during the surgery take time to exit your body; in fact, most people gain a little during the surgery process itself. Just stick to your plan and the scale will start to move soon. I would stay off of the scale for the time being if it is going to upset or discourage you. Good luck!
  7. Practically everyone has a stall in the third week. Your body is just catching up to all of the changes. Just stick to your plan, and the scale will begin to move again soon. Good luck!

    Out of Surgery

For me, the day of surgery and the first two days after were pretty awful. After that, I rebounded very quickly. Hopefully this will be the case for your husband. Best wishes for you both!

    Stall for 3 months

Calories are likely your problem. At your age, height, and weight, you are consuming about the number of calories you would need to maintain if you are more or less sedentary. If I were you, I'd schedule your appointment with your nutritionist and work with him/her to map out a plan for yourself. I'd also get back to journaling everything you eat and drink in a day. Good luck!

    Hiccups

I get them at some point every day, but it is over within a matter of seconds.

    Stall for 3 months

How tall are you? How many calories, carbs, and grams of Protein are you taking in each day? What do you do for exercise?
  13. It's all relative. Just follow your surgeon's directive to the letter. The rest will take care of itself. Good luck!
  14. Like others have said, your life will not be like he is describing. Yes, it will suck for a few short weeks, but that is hardly forever. It is so obvious that he loves you and wants the best for you, but I would put a little distance there until you have the surgery and get past the first few days post-op. As time goes on, he'll see that this was a good decision on your part. (The first few days do suck, so don't give him the opportunity to project this "I told you so" mentality over conditions that are merely temporary.) Good luck tomorrow!
  15. I actually liked my psych eval. The psychologist and I talked about 45 minutes, and then I took that long battery assessment. It took at least an hour if not a little longer. The whole experience was positive. She saw very quickly how committed I was to this journey, and our conversation was very validating.

    Now just waiting

Awesome! It will go by faster than you think. Good luck!

    Information session

My advice is to talk with your team about the mental aspects of the journey. That is where the real struggle lies, and where the battle is won. Good luck!
  18. Best wishes for a great day tomorrow!

    Slow Down!

At 11 weeks post-op, I feel like I eat too fast most of the time. I don't have any issues from it, but all that chew to a paste business has not been the case for me. YMMV.

    Meeting the Surgeon

My appointment with the surgeon (part of my sixth "diet visit") was about 15 minutes or so of him talking about "what he was going to do to me." He didn't talk about anything outside of the surgery itself. I actually found him to be a lot more personable than I thought he would be. (But on surgery day, he didn't speak to me at all, so my overall assessment is that he is very talented, but not particularly caring or an ace with bedside manner...)
  21. My people told me 2 weeks, but you should check with your team. All of these things vary from surgeon to surgeon, and you should do what his people tell to you do.

    Need support/advice?

The day of surgery, and the first couple of days after weren't fun at all, but the pain and discomfort was no where near as bad as I thought they would be. By Day 3 post-op, I was firmly on the rebound and on my way to feeling much, much better. My advice is the same as the others: walk as much as you can in the hospital and at home in the first few days, get back out in the world and walk (even if it is at Walmart or the mall) as soon as possible (I promise this is a very healing thing), and push yourself to meet your Protein and Water goals from the very first day. Good luck! Nothing will completely calm your nerves, but trust me when I tell you that it isn't as bad as you imagine that it will be.

    Snack

Wow. Thank you!!! I really appreciate that. I called my office this am. They were going through hiring process of a new nutritionist over the past 2 months and the group I was in got slightly slided on the group and one on one education side of things. I'm going in @ 230. My Dr is really good and pretty unhappy with what happened. I'm hopeful. Sent from my XT1565 using the BariatricPal App I am so sorry that you didn't get the information and guidance on the front-end that you need and are entitled to; however, I have to admit that I am relieved that this was a glitch in your doctor's system and not business as usual. Please stay on them to give you the tools you need to be successful. I have found in my journey that I have to stay pro-active about everything with my team if I want the service from them that I need and deserve.

@@Heather Leigh, When you speak to the nutritionist, I would insist that he/she give you a written-out plan with food stages and defined Protein goals. You need these things if you want to be successful. Good luck!

You don't have a plan that you are supposed to follow post-op? Really?I do it was one week out but that's it. There are different stages. But I'm not sure where I am on the stages. He didn't say....at the end of the day sound like I was wrong. Won't do it again. Sent from my XT1565 using the BariatricPal App So you're saying that your doctor performed major surgery on you, and sent you home with instructions for only 1 week post-op? That is criminal if I am understanding you correctly. The reason I asked where you were in your food stages is because all plans are different, but no plan is going to have you eating "crunchy" anything at 13 days post-op. You need to concentrate on meeting Protein and Water goals. Did he/she at least give you amounts to aim for (e.g., 80 grams of protein and 64 fl oz of water)?
