Milk of Magnesia always does the trick for me...

    Almost at goal! YES!!!!

    Look at you! Congratulations!
  3. I'm 41 (40 on surgery day), and, trust me, my mama was sitting right next to me the whole time. She would have gone into the OR if they would have let her. (And I wouldn't have had it any other way...)

    Protein Goal too low?

I've never heard of protein goals that low (like 40 low). The NUT at my practice said 80 grams, but I told her a long time ago that I was aiming for 100 grams or more. My team pretty much leaves me alone since I've been so successful. I might get a second opinion on that protein goal. (Or at least ask what their rationale is for making such a low goal amount...)

Liquid Diet 7 months post op

I'm not sure why you would need to put yourself through a liquid diet at this stage of the game. What has caused your stall in weight loss? How many calories are you taking in per day? Carbs? Protein? Water? What do you do for exercise? I would say that figuring out the source of the stall (or gain) and dealing with it is preferable to existing on liquids for an extended period of time.
  6. I was sleeved on September 28, 2016. As of today, I have lost 194 pounds, and I have about 23 pounds to go until goal. I am eating around 1200-1300 calories per day now, 120-130 grams of protein, and less than 20 carbs per day. I am trucking right along, and hope to be at goal by the end of the summer.

    Soft foods ?

The biggies for me at the soft phase were string cheese, well-cooked green beans, and cottage cheese. (And at 7+ months post-op, I still have each of these items every day!)

    STALL! Am I done losing?

If you have that much more to lose, you shouldn't be done. You might want to up your calories a bit, especially if you are exercising a lot. How many carbs are you taking in each day? This also might be a factor in your stall. Good luck!

    Filet mignon!

I had a pretty easy time with the filet cut early on post-op, too. I usually just have steak when I eat out (mostly on work trips these days), but it is nice to have it as an option every now and then.

    Airplane Seat Belt fits !!

Yay! I so remember that day for me. And it also opens up exit rows as a possibility when you don't get upgraded. Definite NSV!

    why no soda??

I was hopelessly addicted to Diet Coke for most of my life. I drank it right up until 3 days before my surgery in September. Even if I could tolerate it (maybe I could, maybe I couldn't; I'm not sure), I won't bring it back because, unlike some people, I do miss it. Trust me, one diet coke today, will bring about three tomorrow, and within a week, I'll be right back where I was. I worked too hard to purge myself of soda to bring it back in any quantity. That's also why I am so strict about carbs. There is no moderation. I just can't do that either.

    2 Days post op

It will get better. The first few days are among the worst of it in my experience.

    2 Days post op

Getting your water and protein in is the most important thing for your recovery right now. Even if it is tough, you have to meet those goals. I suggest sipping constantly throughout the day in order to meet your goals. Working toward those goals is really a full-time job in the first few weeks post-op.

Congratulations!! I am wearing mediums in a lot of things now. It still blows my mind!

    I'm so tired!!!

I took 6 weeks off from work after my surgery. The fatigue was really bad for 8 solid weeks for me. The first 2 weeks that I did go back to work, I struggled. I took a significant nap every single afternoon for the first 6 weeks post-op.
  16. My entire post-op experience has been peppered with stalls. Basically, I'll lose 8-10 pounds in 10 days, and then I'll stall for 10 days, and then the cycle will repeat. Pre-op (I lost 99 pounds during my six month pre-op diet program required by insurance), I lost 3 pounds a week like clock-work, but post-op, the stalls are as prevalent as the losses themselves.

    Night Eating Syndrome

I have always wanted to eat more at night, so I put more space between my meals in the morning so that I open up more eating in the evenings. I eat 8 times per day, starting at 10am. I put 2-2.5 hours between the first few meals, and that becomes about 1.5 hours in the late afternoon/evening. I usually end up eating the last thing around 11pm. Today (as an example), I eat at 11am (I had a late start today due to an appointment this morning), 1pm, 3:30pm, 5pm, 6:30pm, 8pm, 9:30pm, and 11pm. Good luck!
  18. I was just so sick of being so huge (I weighed almost 400 pounds when I started), and so sick of the endless cycle of crap food, that I was ready to get started. So I did. I had to do a six month pre-op diet program as an insurance requirement, so I got started. I embraced a low-carb way of eating, and started at 2000 calories per day, inching my way down to 1200 calories per day for the last 3 months of the 6. I kept my carbs at 20 or less every single day since I started. I lost 99 pounds during those six months (from 397 to 298 by surgery day). I was so disgusted with myself and the whole food thing that I was ready to let it all go. I am glad that I felt that way, because it was time to do something, and there was no reason to wait.

    Not at Goal Weight

My recommendation is to get back to basics. Get your carbs below 25 grams per day, get your calories back to around 1200 or so, and get your protein around 100 grams. Keep your water at 64 oz or more. Track everything you eat and drink to make sure you are hitting these macros. If you are doing that, and getting some exercise each day, there is no reason to think that you won't start losing again. Remember that the sleeve is not a magic wand. You have to change your relationship with food, and embrace this lifestyle of good eating in order to be successful long-term. Good luck!

    Not at Goal Weight

How many calories do you eat per day? Protein? Carbs? How much water do you drink each day? Do you track your food and drink each day? What do you do for exercise?
  21. blizair09

    Watermelon?

It has way too many carbs and sugar for me. I'd say avoid it, but see what your surgeon says.
  22. blizair09

I don't know what do to

How many calories do you take in per day? Protein? Carbs? How much water do you drink each day? Do you track your food and drink? I ask these questions because it is hard to give advice without more information.

    They took out my "heater"!

I am cold all of the time now. And it it quite bizarre considering I have wanted to keep all thermostats on tundra settings for my entire life!!

    Anyone tried a Hydration Station?

Are you talking about hydration therapy for your skin at a spa, or the hydration station that helps you get over a hangover (there's a popular business in Atlanta)? Or are you talking about something else (a definite possibility)?
