Congratulations!!! Exciting!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. My doctors advised I should take a PPI (Nexium24) for a minimum of 3 months after my sleeve surgery. Since I am almost 4 months post op I just stopped taking them yesterday. I have been experiencing some pretty severe stomach cramps since then. Did anyone else have that problem when you discontinued your PPI? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  3. I've been diagnosed with Hashimoto but seem to be doing fine with my weight loss. It will be 4 months on December 18 and I'm down almost 45 pounds. It's slow but consistent and I'm happy with my progress. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Wound Care - Help Please!

I would absolutely contact my surgeon and find out if they have any recommendations. I found a Bandade product specifically for wounds that need to breath and stay dry....I think it was a 2"x3" super absorbent pad that actually breaths and won't stick. I taped it lightly with breathable paper tape. In addition I pulled the incisions together with small butterfly closures. It really helped. Good luck :-)

    Popcorn

I had my sleeve on August 18 and still haven't had popcorn. I love it and am glad I'll be able to eat it again at some point. I use the PopSecret Light 97% fat free and don't miss the "movie" popcorn. I take it in my purse and feel completely satisfied.
  6. I'm not sure any of the Protein drinks have science behind them.......and even if they do we all know any "independant study" can be manipulated to look like whatever "they" are trying to prove. What I do know is a tablespoon of unflavored Protein powder is something I can swallow. That's better than no protein since I (and many others) can't seem to get any of the protein drinks/powders/bars down. I just received my GENEPRO and will begin today. If I feel better and my blood work is good I'll continue to use it. If not, I won't. If you're able to ingest the other protein products then congratulations.......I certainly wish I could. We all have to do what works for us as individuals.
  7. If you read all the literature the total Protein is based on the absorption calculations. The absorption is equivalent to 30 grams of protein. If you go to the manufacturer's site: shopmusclegen.com it will explain the science behind the product. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Loving Genepro

So glad to hear the GENEPRO doesn't make you sick............I'm really hoping this is the solution to my Protein problem! You look amazing!!!! You must be so proud and feel so amazing!! Congratulations on your success...........you're beautiful inside and out!!
  10. While my surgeon recommends no coffee for the first 2-3 months I am trying to decide if there's any benefit to eliminating it altogether..... I don't HAVE to drink it but I really enjoy a nonfat latte from time to time. Has anyone had any problems drinking coffee? Do other surgeons allow it? Is there an undesirable side effect from drinking coffee? Thanks for any input ☕️ Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  11. I've done a lot of reading about GENEPRO GEN2 Protein powder and it seems like a terrific way to meet my protein goals each day. The company said it is tasteless and odorless and can be mixed in hot or cold foods. Has anyone used it? Is it actually tasteless? I have a really difficult time getting enough protein each day so this might be an answer. If you have used it what do you typically mix it with? Do you like it? Thanks for any input❗️ Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  12. You've just had major surgery and your body is still adjusting..........give yourself the same compassion and understanding you would give a friend going through the same circumstances. It's a really big hit to our system and we think the results should be instantaneous (at least I did). As you start healing and feeling better I think your attitude will change. Once you begin dropping some weight you'll be very pleased ;--) Hang in there ♥

    Day 9 ...throwing up

I'm using the vitamin patches.......can't take pills for another 2 months...........

    Augh a non answer

I just ordered the GENEPRO GEN2 Protein Powder..............supposedly it's tasteless, odorless and you only need 1 tbls to equal 30 grams of protein. Several members on this forum use it and say it works really well in yogurt, soups, oatmeal. I can't tolerate the shakes either........they literally make me gag. Gonna try this GenePro GEN2 and see if it solves my problem......I'll let you know. I'm a huge Amazon Prime user but according to reviews I won't order GenePro from them. Many complaints that it isn't the same as the GenePro you order from the manufacturer or from GNC. Worth a couple of extra dollars if I can meet my protein requirements.

    30 minutes

If I drink right before or after eating I get sick as well...........I try to wait at least 30 minutes.
  16. Good for you!! Glad you're feeling good

    Sleeved Sept 29th! Help!

I would suggest you contact your surgeon.......that's the safest thing to do. Good luck

    Tomorrow is the day!

I'm 6 weeks post op and feeling terrific. Relax and be good to yourself.....remember everyone's journey is different.......follow your surgeons recommendations and don't be confused by what the rest of us say - we're on our own journey and, hopefully following our surgeons recommendations. Don't compare your weight loss with others.....we all lose at the perfect rate for our individual bodies. Resist the temptation to weigh every day. Our weight fluctuates and it can be disheartening. Be proud of your choice to be in control of your own body and, most importantly, love yourself Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Not feeling to good

My surgeon prescribed a Nexium24 first thing every morning for a minimum of the first 3 months.......it's for heartburn/acid reflux. There are several brands: Nexium24, Prevacid, Prilosec. PPI is acronym for Protein Pump Inhibitor. It basically reduces the acid in your stomach. I'm really surprised your doctor didn't advise you to take one of the aforementioned medications as it seems most of the members on this site are taking them. The acid reflux is a common problem after the sleeve surgery. That being said, it is ALWAYS best to check with your surgeon to make sure there is nothing wrong.
  20. I took my pillow and an extra soft snuggly blanket, phone, iPad and chargers for both plus a headset. Didn't use anything else I took. Found I slept most of the time. Good luch!

    Not "hungry", but hungry..?

Candygyrl is right on! Thin does not equate to healthy so my goal is to get everyone in my home eating healthier by offering healthier choices. I was very overweight as a child and can honestly say it was the most traumatizing time of my life. Kids are especially cruel to little girls about their weight so leading a healthy lifestyle by example sends a very strong and positive message to our children, family members and friends. Way to go Candygyrl!!!! Every time I sign onto this forum I am inspired by the tenacity and motivation of the members. Thank you for helping me to make better choices every day!!
  22. I was on clear liquid for 10 days then to Protein shakes and Jello, etc. Eating any kind of sold food was a minimum of 30 days post surgery so I'm still pretty new. My surgeon recommended 75 grams a protein per day once I started the shakes. The one thing I've learned through this forum is that post op instructions vary significantly from one surgeon to the next. I agree with many of the posts I've read that you should confirm with your surgeon and then follow their instructions. I don't know that you necessarily have to eat solid food just because it's allowed as long as you're meeting the nutritional requirements. I'm 6 weeks post op and still having a few issues with solid food.........I can only eat very small amounts of anything solid at a time.............but everyone is very different. I'm still really glad that I decided to have the sleeve - I'm feeling pretty terrific and have been steadily losing weight. Life is good.

    Taste buds change?

I've noticed a change in my taste buds as soon as I started pureed foods.............not necessarily a bad thing...just different.
