I topped out at 425, pre-surgical diet got me to 385. Had my DS on 8/25/16, and today I am at 294. My goal is 195. There are rough days, but it has definitely been worth it. I hear that there is a 5-month plateau to watch out for, but I will just work the plan...I'm in this for the long haul. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

Anti-Anxiety/Depression Medacation
Vombatidae replied to VictoriaCa's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
I was on Wellbutrin before DS. They switched me from XL to SR because of the malabsorption. However, a little over three months out, I am off it entirely. Not suggesting that should happen for everyone, but letting you know it CAN happen. Still adapting, still working the plan, but DS has changed more than my weight. -
Surgery today. 2 p.m. Dr. Bruce at Wake Med, Cary NC I'm going to try to update this thread daily until I return to work on 9/12, if things go as planned. Pre-op weight: 381.2 Max rec. weight: 425, 8/2015 At start of liver diet: 405, 7/24 Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

Not much changing except I am very tired of Protein shakes and the like. They were ok when I could chug them down, but sipping on them for hours is really wearing on me. Only a few more days to soft foods, so I'll deal with it. Weigh-in was 369 for a net loss of 56 lbs. It is encouraging to see that middle digit change. Skipped a day, because nothing new happened on Thursday. Today had a couple of milestones: the drain was removed, which was an unusual experience. Also hit 50 total pounds lost, which is 25% of my primary goal. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

Swelling is down, drain has nearly stopped. Took advantage of feeling better to get a solid nap. Also did better with intake today. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

Today was my first post-op weight check. I gained two pounds. I was braced for that: edema, Fluid retention, etc. but I am looking forward to making progress again. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

Home today, it's been busy. No pain meds at all today, there are twinges but nothing too serious. Been dealing with drain management and Lovenox injections. Not a big deal, but a nuisance I wasn't expecting. Kids did actually did some work around the house, so that's a bonus. Finding it tough to get enough Water and Protein in, but doing my best. Lots of walking yesterday and today.About 300 yds, x8. Had some minor issues w/cramping, so keeping me another night. Did have a runny BM; that helped. I was dreading that, glad to have it behind me, as it were. (TMI? too bad, you are in the wrong thread.) Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

Radiology did the barium leak test about an hour ago, things looked fine. They insisted I drink more Fluid than my new stomach capacity. Major cramping. This is when the nurse decides to distract me by talking about Italian food. Sigh. But I am now allowed to sip tiny cups of Water. After 37 hours of not being allowed to even rinse and spit, this is wonderfull. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

I'm not the support group type really, but four days out from DS, it would be helpful to hear about post-op recovery from folks who have been through it. Thanks.
