So, I want to start a thread where everyone can just vent about their surgery. Even if you haven't had it yet. I'm sure we've all had our fair share of ups and downs throughout this whole journey. Sometimes, it's nice to talk about your frustrations without judgement. And what better place to talk about what you're going through, than with people who also have had similar situations. So let's start! [emoji4]

I'm a year post op and I've lost over 200 pounds. Also, I'm 22. And I have a lot of excess skin...especially around my stomach, thighs, and arms. But I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. I feel SO much better now.

Constipation does suck. I eventually had to get a prescription to help it. No longer need to take it though thankfully[emoji4] -

My advice is to practice now. Really. I've had countless times where I've ate too fast and ended up eating too much and having everything come right back up. It's not pretty. Lol. But after awhile, you do get into a routine. You can do it! [emoji4] -

Yeah, I've heard that the recovery and complications are very minimal regarding the sleeve. [emoji4] -

Exactly. You name it, I've tried it. And I was skeptical about surgery, but after reading more about it and realizing it was a tool more than an easy way out...I was more motivated than ever. -

I have as well. And I've accepted the fact that I will always be technically "overweight" for my height (5'4) but I feel sooooo much healthier now! -

I know, it seems scary now and I completely get where you're coming from. But, a year or so from now. The transformation will be incredible to have. [emoji4][emoji4] -

The before and after pictures are absolutely inspiring and definitely motivated me. I still haven't done a before and after yet because I still want to lose more...but I'm amazed when I look back at pictures. -

It's exciting so naturally you want to share it! But I agree, before my surgery I didn't tell many people. But now, I'm proud of how far I came and I tell anyone who asks. It definitely is NOT the easy way out like people think. But to answer your question, the hardest part was just the adjusting to being around people eating yummy food and not being able to eat it, or enjoy it. I still struggle to eat slow to this day, and let me tell you...I pay the price every time. You'll learn quickly how much you can eat, and you'll know when you've ate too much. It's just the process of adjusting. It's really all mental. -

I had bypass, only because I had so much excess weight and I'm fairly young (21 at the time of surgery, 22 now) so recovery would be easier. I started at 450 pounds and today I'm at 235. Still have some more to lose, but I'm working on it! -

I'm 13 months post op and I've lost over 200 pounds. But I remember like it was yesterday waiting to get approved. It took me over a year to finally get a date for surgery. I wish you all the best! And if you have any questions, I'm here! [emoji4] -
Hellooo! I'm currently 13 months post op. This past year has been filled with hospital visits and 7 times under anesthesia...it's been rough. But, I've lost over 200 pounds. Yes, that's right! I started at 450...as of today I'm at 243. I still want to lose some more weight, but I know it'll take some hard work. Anyways! Needless to say, I have a LOT of excess skin on my arms, stomach, thighs, and back [emoji17]. As of the last few weeks I've been getting these awful painful rashes on my thighs and under my excess skin on my stomach. It makes it so hard to move. I've been putting on baby powder to try to keep it dry, but I want to know if there's anything else I could use? Also, any idea how far out you have to be in order to get plastic surgery? I know I'm still probably too early but I want to have something to look forward too. (And yes, I'm documenting my rashes with my PCP for insurance purposes) Thank you!

I recently (8/17/16) had Gastric bypass surgery at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. I had the best nurses and doctors anyone could ask for. My surgeon was Dr.David Chengelis. He was absolutely amazing and made sure I was completely aware of everything before surgery. My anesthesiologist team were fantastic and answered my many questions ( I had not been under before). Overall I would recommend Beaumont if you're looking in Michigan! ❤️8/17/16

Unfortunately I cheated on my diet today. I had the cheese off a slice of pizza . I'm 9 days post op and been having a rough time. I think I'm making myself more sick than the food I ate. I feel awful and I most definitely am not going to slip up again. I chose to do this surgery, I waited a year to get approved, I work my ass off. I did not come this far only to fall off the wagon and have it all mean nothing. I guess I'm just looking to vent, lol. Thanks for listening to me. Haha ❤️8/17/16

Thank you so much! @@Djmohr I developed an ulcer because I stupidly took a couple NSAIDs after surgery.../: Congrats on your weight loss and I hope everything goes well with your surgery! ❤️8/17/16 -
So I had bypass on 8/17 Normal surgery, no complications. On 9/23 I was admitted to the hospital and had to go into the OR to check for an ulcer- which they found. Yesterday 9/30 I had to have surgery to have my gallbladder removed. I haven't been able to eat in weeks...and I'm excited to move on. I've put my life on hold for 2 months and I'm ready to get back to life. On the plus side- I've lost 50 pounds in 6 weeks:) ❤️8/17/16

Congratulations! I would try a bunch of different Protein shakes/waters to see what you like. Though, after surgery your taste buds may change, it's a good idea to get an idea of what you like. I wish I would have done that, I'm 5 weeks post op and am still having a hard time finding a Protein Drink lol. ❤️8/17/16

So I had bypass on 8/17 I've had a pretty normal surgery, nothing wrong. Post op I was doing okay, having a little bit of trouble getting fluids in. Fast forward to this past week or so I've been feeling nauseous all the time, every time I eat I feel pain/sick afterwards. I have moderate pain on my right side (near my upper back) that comes and goes a few times a day, vomiting whenever I do eat, pain in my upper abdomen a few times a day, and my stool turned to this very pale almost white color (not to be gross lol) I'm at a loss as to what's going on with me...or is it normal? /: ❤️8/17/16
