I think you would want to use the one your doc is more comfortable using becasue there is a different protocal for pre surgery with realize...things we would not even be aware of...and the way the port is attached is with a tool not sewn in...so I would want to know how many Realize bands he had used and what the training was? If you go on their website you can see if he is on the approved list? This would be a criteria for me??? Good Luck

Hi MO...my doc uses both...I reuested Realize. Just got banded Wednesday! My doc told me that they are both wonderful products that it boils down to a few things: web support (she said if you use it as another tool you will be successful); the port can be moves easily if you have plastics down the line; Johnson and Johnson is the company behind it...some people like the idea of a bigger company. The Realize band is 9 cc 's interms of fill level.....she said she tries to get the smalles band n a person and that this one fit me perfect! That's all I know except whart they say on their web site. Good Luck

I had a patch for naseau too! They gave it to me for the night before surgery...then I got a new one 3 days later..I just took it off. I was only nauseated sp? once...as the first patch wore off... I peed ok but it was a strain at first...no problems now...day 4 and just a bit sore at the port...Kinda like a burning feeling if I move wrong. I started soft foods today! I did Clear liquids until then...I thought it was weird how soon but I followed drs. orders and ate! Good Luck

Leslie please do not feel like a failure! I was not on a liquid diet prior to surgery...they just wanted you to eat sensibly and not snack between meals...cut out the sugars and white carbs.... SO you are not a failure! I realize each doc has their own way, so try and follow it but you did not screw it up yet...OK?

So sorry to hear that you are in such misery.. :confused2:.it really does depend on the individual. I promise it will get better each day as I am seeing. To get out of bed I put a strudy chair by the side and I swing mylegs over the edge...blant my feet and grab the ladder back of the chair to hoist myself up.:biggrin: I learned that after my hysterectomy last year. When you get off the toilet put your hands on your thighs and push forward then lift up..:laugh:.It really helps....Good Luck to you! Wow your starting weight is like a major goal for me! Ddem....I am glad you are feeling better...and am sorry you were so naseated sp?.... HOnestly, I tend to get really gaggy after any time I had been put to sleep but THANK GOD...people have been praying for me.... This time I did not! They gave me a motion sickness patch for behind my ear (RX...the one you get befor a cruise). I put it on the night before...On the day after surgery, while still in the hospital, I got really tired about 1 pm. I stood up to take a walk when I felt a retch coming on...just 1...so I walked to my nurses station...looking green...and declared that I was not feeling so good! So, they gave me phinergan in my iv...I had also requested a new patch since I figured the current one was shot...they last about 3 days and this was day 3. So, I got that and everything was great. I left abut 3 from the hospital and was fine then I had a few visitors, and then I felt horrible again..like the flu...took my temp it was 99.9 which prior was below normal... So, I took a percoset...and it knocked me out. When I woke up the fever was better and I felt better. I continued on the percoset through the night...3 pills total...and have not used anything else...oh I did take 3 Jr. Tylenols yesterday...the meltaway kinds...they taste like bubblegum and were yummy! Pretty sad that I got excited over that! I was on clear liquids until this morning and so I've now had some yogurt, cottage cheese, hummus and applesauce! I just got up from a nap and am trying to ignore that I want real food! My blood sugars have been great so I have not taken any meds! Both yesterday and today I have gone on shopping trips - 3 different ones- to get out of the house and walk! It is too hot to walk here and besides it is fun to look at stuff at the store! Thanks Becky! Hello band week friends! I have done well today...much better than yesterday so it should be even better on Saturday. I actually get to try some food tomarrow! Kinda scared about that...I think it is funny that I don't have more restrictions on the type of food. They are not even calling it mushy stage! I am going to start with like applesauce and yogurt....maybe I'll make a smoothie? I was so used to Protein shakes that that is what I want! We shall see. Hope you all are resting comfortably!

I am glad you are down in weight...I went up 11 pounds but they said that was normal...gass and iv fluids... I ave lost about 6 of the eleven now but am still higher than I was pre-op! I walked a ton today...went to the store window shopping...I am just feeling tired and a bit sore...but better than yesterday. I can't believe it is over!!! I know the real work is yet to come..... As for poo...haven't had any! I am only on clear liquids until tomarrow I can start mushies etc... I am not hungry but I get waht they say about head hunger....I feel I should eat something...but I won't.... My daughter made cookies and dinner today and I could totally smell it all...Torture! I had a sf popsicle to take my mind off the food! LOL

Hi you all! This is day 3 well Wed. was band day...anyway, I slept better last night and I just got home from TJMAX store...we went for about 1 and half hours for me to walk around! Now it is nap time!

Globally yours...I hope you can rest up a bunch too! My husbands sounds like he has a cold too! I told him to sleep on the sofa! I don't want to get sick too! Stay well!

I am back and banded! Got home around 3 today....feel mostly good...just had one bad patch of a time..... Good Luck to all...if I can do it so can you!

:thumbup: Hi all! I am banded! It all went really well....I got home today around 3:30. I was up and walking like 3 hrs. post surgery. The nurses said I was the star student! :tt2: I had terrific care at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea! How am I feeling? Well, I had about 5 hours today that I was not as good as I had been. I dry heaved once! Then they gave me meds and it all calmed down..... I am very tired and the RX they sent me home with was percocet! Boy, that knocks me out! I feel much better now but definitely have tenderness on left side mostly. So, back to walking and bed for me!:biggrin2: Hope you all are feeling great! In my opinion....his behavior is not one a friend would behave like...Unfortunately, our society has made light of the subject of obesity...I think when people are insensitive then it is really their way of covering up their own fear of something..as in gaining weight. So, let it slide...and if it keeps up get a new friend!

I know it sounds early but I have to be there at 10:30 and it is at 12:30....It will be a long morning since I will most likely wke up at 6...my usual time! bama belle....It will be here soon I promise! I am still doing great because my mind is sooo much on the interview...I read and practiced answers all weekend..now I am just ready to get it over with and THEN I will be on to the next crisis...my Band day! I am trying not to focus on it because I don't want any nerves during this interview....I just tried on my outfit and took a picture so I could see how it looked..... I just wished it was next year when I will have lost more! Of course, everyone says it looks great....I just hate seeing myself...I am sure many of you can relate! To make matters worse the interview is video taped!!! Oh well, I'll do my best! Here I go.....

Sorry about your pain....I'm sure I will KNOW how you feel soon enough...as in next weekend! I think it is normal based on the posts I've read and what the doc told me...gas tying to get out....Try a heating pad!
