    Boo Boo Kitty's PS Journey

That is interesting...I am DONE with liquids this time...mushies or food in the morning...although, I usually do a protein shake for breakfast.....an old habit which works with my schedule... Protein bars are good I just have to watch the carb count...I try and stay under 15 grams a bar or less. (after subtracting the fiber) Well, I am glad you are hanging in there...I think I may have finally gotten some restriction...I'll keep my fingers crossed... How are your scars doing? My port one is VERY ugly and still maroon or purple??

    losing weight means losing boobs?!

Skinny Mike...I know a young man who had zero body fat...he is a professional dancer/performer...almost too skinny... He had man boobs so he had plastics done! It is a very delicate procedure... He told me it is heredity and something like 80% of the male population have the gene for it...It just doesn't always "show up" dpending on BMI etc... So, it bothered him being that as a dancer you may have costumes that require to be shirt less... He is happy with the result... Good Luck!
  3. Did you call to inform your doc? ask them??? I am not trying to be glib...just concerned.
  4. Now that you mentioned it...I have heard that some people feel more restricted several days later... My water always goes down fine. It is funny how different our bodies are...some people only need like 1 fill... I am still on liquids and I do feel a bit of pressure...so,maybe I'll see a difference! Good luck to you Dionna.

EbonyRose you sure have a way with words! My feelings about BBK's sharing too! BBK....I no longer can claim TOM due to being a hystersister! LOL I know I have had many issues going on and the gain is just a bump in the road... So...I just have to look up! My doc puts you on THREE DAYS of clear liquids after a fill so I am sure that the 3 lbs are gone gone gone.....what was your doc's after a fill routine? Just curious??? I am doing fine here on day 2 so, 1 more to go...I'll be cleaned out that is for sure!! Take care of yourself...how are you anyway????
  6. OK...so today I had my third fill... So here is the scoop......I think my tummy was still numb from the surgery because my first fill was a piece of cake. OK....now don't freak...my second fill I had a newer fill nurse practitioner and she had to "poke" me twice...it is not horrible but they do not numb us at our doc's...some do.. Today was my third fill...the first fill nurse parctitioner did it...I DID feel it a bit but it is not like I'd go and cry or anything at all...It is just not a comfortable feeling... I am not trying to freak anyone out...I would definitely still do this again and it is no worse than a shot...so...if this is what it takes to loose weight for good.... I am in! Good Luck!

Well, that is great! Am I the only one who ever went to the doc and gained 3 pounds this month....I think Denise was right when she reminded me that refried beans are a lot of carbs!!! I am sure the chips and salsa didn't help either! LOL! Well, soon I can exercise and I now have had my third fill...I hope three's a charm.... I have 7cc's in a 9cc band! Cheers! Shelley

    Pin up Shoto Shoot??

BBK...I go away for the weekend and what do I find? You looking extra hot but hurting AGAIN!!! I think you are having a summer like me.....I will pray we both heal soon and better than before! You are still an inspiration to me and many other ladies so THANK YOU for sharing your stories. I can not wait to see more pics....make sure to keep tabs on the nose! As for me, fill number 3 tomarrow! I hope this puts me in a more restricted world...my broken foot is almost healed and I hope to begin exercising again next week...it has been since my surgery, other than walking, UNTIL I fell like a graceful gal and broke my foot! I have noticed I was more clutzy this summer...I attribute it to possibly the anestesia meds? Maybe that can be your excuse too? Be well, Shelley
  10. Hi Nancy, unfortunately I did not feel restriction but it did diminish my hunger between meals some.... I suppose for a few weeks I felt a bit of a restriction....I am really hoping this 3rd fill will do it...everyone is different....My band is a 9cc band and I have 6cc's so maybe if they put in 1 - 1.5 more I will be there.....you do not want to be too tight but not too light either...I haven't had anything stuck so that's all good! So good luck on your fill and I'll let you know about mine Tuesday.

    I Can't believe this...

The other thing that was a HUGE LIFESAVER was the doctor gave me a script for a motion sickness patch...scalapia or something like that... The drug is called a "scopolamine patch" (I only know this because I'm a nurse and we use it frequently). It looks like one of those round bandaids and you just put it behind your ear and it's good for 72 hours. Thanks for the info!!! Like I said, it saved me!!! Never will I have surgery without one again!!!
  13. Thanks for the info Denise...maybe 3 will be my charm! tnag86...My doc likes about 3 days of clear liquids...ugh! Anyway, I have done mostly broth and herbal teas.... I did have an isopure drink which had protein but I hate fake fruit flavors so...ugh...the green tea one is ok...I also like to drink this stuff from HiHealth...if you have one...called Coconut Water......it has a tiny bit of fructose so it helps to keep me from the headache I experienced after the first fill.....It also has calcium and potassium which is good...it said to be natures sports drink.... I also have drank Smart Water because it has electrolytes in it...all about staying hydrated.... I must admit, I have had a protein shake about late day 2....I was not swollen so it went down fine....it was not clear.... So, some people can just do 1 day of liquids and then mushies....I try and hold out.... Good Luck!

    Permanent Makeup

HI glamour girls!! I have had my brows and eye lids done for 4 years! I had the brows retouched last year...I need the eyes done again... I LOVED it but was sad to see how fast it faded on me??? I am great about wearing sunscrean/ dark glasses outside etc,,, my body chemistry likes to absorb it...so, I will do my lider again some day soon! but I LOVE it!
  15. I too had a painful situation after my first fill and 3 days of clear liquids....it was so bad I tore and am now having to see a rectal surgeon for a periannal fissure! So, drink penty of fluids, I use benfiber now everyday, I also eat prunes, and take a stool softener most days....I buy a generic colace at costco.... I am just terrified of being what I NOW know was impacted bowel constipation...UGH!!! I have a fill next week so I am going to be sure I have "moved" before so things do not get slowed down and compacted... Such fun we have here...LOL

    I Can't believe this...

hOw exciting for you...I waited it seems like forever but it was a semester before I had surgery...school teacher here... Anyway, a heating pad for tummy / port area....and be prepared to WALK....I tell everyone this! I did not have any major pain or gas issues because as soon as I could I was up walking or sitting in the recliner....I was on a 23 hour hospital stay and I only slept like 4 hours that night...I was up walking....lapped that nurses station like crazy.. The other thing that was a HUGE LIFESAVER was the doctor gave me a script for a motion sickness patch...scalapia or something like that... I put it on behind my ear the night BEFORE surgery...she said they found it helps to get it into the system before the nausea (ok I spelled that wrong!) gets started...I usually have a terrible throw up reaction to the meds they give to put you out... So, you may want to call the dr. in the morning and ask about getting one called in???? GOOD LUCK!!!
  17. I just read the end of this thread and want to put my 2 cents in .... My port is below my scar because the scar is where they origionally had an instrument for the banding then they use that access to attach the port on the muscle fascia.....so During a fill the needle is put at the port site not the scar site...The port is for injecting not the tubing....it is made of a material that will accept the needle and not leak out....hopefully!

Glad to hear you are feeling better. As for head hunger...I have come to the conclusion that THAT is why we eat 90% of the time.... Otherwise, why would smell be so important to our appetite? The nose has it's own part of the brain..which then must be a direct volt to our hunger brain.... Enough musing...Keep up the faith and healing! I am getting a fill next week and I am soooooo ready to find restriction...remind me of this if I am too tight!!! Take Care Brandy, Shelley

How are you doing today BBK? It was funny you said about your stomache rumbling...and hunger....mine still makes those sounds if I go about 5 or so hours! I just try not to let it get that long! Hope you are resting well...I hear you on the lack of a bath...it took my port site FOREVER to heal and I was just able to go back to a nice soak about 2 weeks ago! I live in AZ and I couldn't get into the pool all summer long! I plan on doing water arobics soon...I'll get sick of the water then...LOL.... Take care, Shelley

    Hungry

Good for you ANWA! I know I am better than before my first fill...I also know that when I am hungry, and gobble, it feels weird...I have not got stuck yet....Thank goodness.....I think before restriction is practice because if I was more restricted I would have gotten stuck and "paid" the price! My nutritionist went over "mindful" eating which is SO true....like at work, it is hard because if you are sitting and gabbing then #1 you are not paying attention to what or how you are eating...#2...depending on how much time you have, you may keep eating because everyone else is (I am supposed to limit to eating only for 20 minutes and THAT is IT!) and #3....you don't realize you just ate your whole lunch... so you do not get the psychological feeling of fullness... SO...by writing this I am reminding MYSELF of these things and I hope I've helped someone else.... it is so hard in our society where food is so social... and if you sit and eat bread or chips and salsa before dinner....then you just spent your 20 minutes etc.... Make every meal MINDFULL and then you may truely feel fuller! OK...Hang in there....I need to practice this too! Shelley
  21. Good Luck! Hang in there....there are most likely more options....

    Hungry

Well, I do not think you ate anything that will "hurt" you...if it all went down fine....they told us that we were not on starches at first to get us to not "crave" them...you know...concentrate on Protein, fruit and veggies...so...... I think you should call the doc...but also try and limit high caloric foods like mashed potatoes and ice cream...not that we all don't want to eat it but to loose weight....less carbs and less sugar is best....This of course, is from my plan and I am NOT a dr. but.... Bottom line, I doubt you have hurt your band...you are still healing, so take care and remember...the time between banding and a fill is called "bandster hell" because it is not easy! I am actually still there! Oh, to be restricted....soon I hope! Good Luck....protein and healthy carbs! Shelley

    Hungry

I can tell you both that until I had my fill...and about 8 days post op...I was hungry....the swelling goes down and then it is like nothing ever happend...I ate food like I was told to do starting about day 5...so...what is it that you ate??? I was not allowed raw veggies, caffine, and basic starches the first 6 weeks...then I got a fill and it helped with the hunger...portion control was still hard at times...after 2nd fill, even better but I still think the restriction is lite and am waiting for my third fill in Sept.....I do not think I get that hungry between meals and I do eat smaller portions but....more than I want too.... Good Luck...

OMG...I haven't been on the board in a few days and what do I read???? Sorry Brandy...BBK....I hope you are resting some now! I am sure that it will all work out because you HAVE to be positive....and we are all praying for you! It is so odd because....we all worked so hard to get bands....well, most of us...then YOU did the really hard work in loosing your weight....going through PS and now a port revision caused this???? It makes me a bit scared about what I have done to my body to find health.... Then I remember that nothing in life that is worth it is easy...I do not know why but....so, now when you look in the mirror..better yet, when you realize the YEARS you have added to your life and the fact that you even like how you look....this will all be worth it.....was it necessary? Of course not...but it will add value to your journey and NEVER let anyone tell you it was so easy for you because...well, you know.... So, now that I sound like the self-help guru.....please take care...visualize yourself on the beach in that polka-dot bathingsuit pin up girl!!! And GET WELL SOON!
