I have never heard this...other than wanting you to loose weight before....my doc has not said no meat....now a few days prior to surgery you will have to go on a "clean" out type diet, I am learning soon about all that. I do not have a lot of meat at all because I use Protein shakes....that is just what I have done to loose weight for many attemps. I can't say I crave meat when I don't eat it because of the protein supplements I have....and believe me I LOVED being on ATKINS diet at one time and lost a bunch....only to gain it back...what I am saying is I loved meat then...I don't seem to miss it... Maybe someone else can comment on the no meat issue (pre-op)

Well. I sure won't mind loosing some...but I will be at my knees I'm sure....I guess this is the road to several other surgeries huh?

I just got mine today...I am excited...and scared....It will be worth it!

From the support groups I've attended and reading here I see that some people can eat meat...it just depends....Also, remember that your taste buds and cravings will change some eventually...so what seem like very important now...may not later...you know the slogan "Nothing tastes as good as slim feels"....it is a sacrafice...but so is living fat and unhealthy....I'm ready...even if I can't eat some foods later because they don't agree with me.....Making me unhealthy is a different kind of not agreeing with me.... Thanks you all!!! I think we all have some waiting to do but...it will be worth it especially if we try and use the behavior modifications until then...LIKE...not drinking with our meals 30 -20 -30 UGH!!! that is so hard for me!!!!

I finally got my Band Day!! Yes...thank you to all who have been crossing their fingers and toes...I got my approval and date TODAY!!! :tongue: May 28th is MY NEW DAY!!!....whew...that took a bit of work...and yes, UHC is covering it!!! :thumbup:

Kimmie K..I feel for you....My plan stipulated that you had to be employed for 5 years to be eligable! So, choose carefully...and look at the policy exclusions...

Good ideas ladies...after my complete abdominal (open) hysterectomy last June they suggested that I put a sturdy chair (like a dining room type) next to my bed...then use the back as the bar to pull up on or hold on too! It worked great...The other GREAT TIP...take a fanny pack and put like carmax or lipbalm, a small mirror, breath strips OK this time GAS X strips etc.... then hang it from the headboard or chair...always within a easy reach etc...I actually brought it to the hospital since I stayed 2 nights and had it hooked to the bed bar! Just a thought...Luckily, I have a great recliner too! ChecK out Goodwill or a consignment store...always have good ones...Big Lots had some too!

Good advice...if you can afford the time off...give it to yourself so that you can be at your best!!! Those with physical lifting jobs, I would think really need to be careful...you don't want to have to go back under to fix any thing :crying:

Wow Ezma...you are doing great! How much did you loose pre op? I have UHC..waiting for approval...How long did it take you to get it? My file is in medical review as of last Monday???? Glad you are doing so great....I 'm glad you liked your doc and all...very important. :cheers2:
