Congrats to those of you that just got your dates!! Yes, we may not outwardly seem stressed but I am sure snappy too! I know we will all be fine...I had surgery last summer and did great but it does feel like I have been talking about this as if it would be someone else and someday.... NOW IT IS ALMOST HERE!!!! YIKES!!! It is so funny how emotional this is...the other night I was telling a coworker of my DH's that I was having the band and I almost started tearing up!!! Like - I feel so grateful that the decision has been made and it is going to happen...and that there is a light at the end of the tunnel .... so it is relief and anxiety at the same time!! I tend to analyze everything so that doesn't help right now...LOL TTFN Shelley

I am so excited for everyone... Bandfan1 I sure have enjoyed our conversations...it really helps to know what is ahead... May is such a horrible month for me with end of school and I am in charge of 3 different "food" events!!! UGH!! I am doing great on my "plan" but boy...I sure could be stress eating...which brings me to my next point... Did all of you banded..... and those of you May flowers in waiting...are you getting "bit##y" with stress maybe? Even though I am excited, I am sooooo uneven right now...must be the stress of all AND the upcoming surgery...and not eating for comfort??? Anyone know what I mean? I just sorta tell it like it is lately.... I am actually shocking some people with my bluntness! Oh well...maybe I'm on the road to be one of those, pardon the expression..."Skinny Bi###es"! Please tell me I'm not alone because I am usually not like this... Well, TTFN

:biggrin:Hi friends!!! Just popped in to say "Hello" to you all! I am getting so excited to just as Nike says, "JUST DO IT!" I do not have a preop diet other than back in February...I scheduled for when school gets out for surgery......to loose 10% of my excess body weight by my pre-op appt. which is May 20th. I am happy  to report that I have done that but now would like to come in as much lower as possible!!! This month is so hard with all the end of school parties etc... So, I am trying to be healthy, and only have 1 real meal but use protein shakes at other times...I have been doing that for awhile...except I mainly substitiued 1 meal and had 2 small meals w/ 2 protein snacks... Anyway, I had an abdominal ultrasound 2 weeks ago and everything (gall bladder, liver, spleen) looked good. My PCP said I had a "mild" amount of fat on my liver :confused2: and it was a bit larger than it should be...but considering my morbid obestiy it was good! So, my point is...I bet I have shrunk it since my diet started in December...so if I can shrink it more...the better. Ta Ta For Now! Good Luck everyone!

Congrats to all you shoppers!! I think I will be shopping in my own closet first...then I can clean it out...I have like sizes 16 on UP UP UP...granted they are so old they are back in style!!! The elastic is probably brittle too but...I will see if any of my old favs will fit eventually.... Then...I'l just shop a little...Yea Right!!! I'll do alot...anyway, I'm just joking around but I do have a million things in like 3 closets and now I can finally use it..watch it get too big then Loose it!! Cheers! -
Hi everyone! I have been following a eating regimine that includes at least 1 protein shake for breakfast...I like to make my own in the blender..then lean and green the other times I eat...I also have a cuple of servings of fresh fruit a day.. Another good rule..especially if you are diabetic like I am... Balance a carb with protein... so, an apple and a slice of lowfat cheese or a tsp of peanut butter...or a glass of skim milk..in other words do not eat a carb alone! Good Luck everyone!!

Second thoughts about Lap Band.
amsderb replied to celticdreamer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just saw a friend who had gastric about 4 years ago..she has now gained back 30 lbs. She said that you are "supposed to catch it at 15"...and she was embarrased to say that she obviously didn't do too well at that. Granted she has lost, still at least 60 lbs...but she is struggling. Another person I know said her daughter gained all 100 lbs back after bypass! Another bypass friend said she has gained at least 50 back...lastly, a woman I exercise with has gained back 120 pounds after bypass... See the trend? Now, I am not banded yet but this is my thought process: OMG!!! How can it happen so easily for these people?? Could it be they did NOT CHANGE THEIR LIFESTYLE?? WAS IT SO EASY TO LOOSE DUE TO THE MALABSORPTION THAT THEY NEVER REALLY MONITORED AND ATE MORE HEALTHY? So, Why the Band? Because to loose the weight YOU HAVE TO CHANGE YOUR LIFESTYLE...OTHERWISE YOU WILL NOT LOOSE VERY MUCH!!! So, it may be slower because we will absorb every single calorie we ingest...But...along the way we will train ourselves to eat a whole new way.....The whole "TOOL" idea... In summary...maybe some people gain back after bypass because it was too easy and they never really changed once they got where they were going.... Anyone can eat around the band or bypass...you have to CHANGE!!!! -
Yea BandFan1 You know I am proud of you...thanks for sharing all the scoop and poop as they say!
